  3. Drifting Finds a Home Nationally in Australia Initial Drift Australia, Inc. founded to support, foster and promote the community and motorsport of drift in Australia. SYDNEY, Australia - 2003-12-17 Initial Drift Australia, Inc. (IDA) is a non-profit organisation formed to help support, foster and promote the motorsport of drift in Australia as well as the communities that surround it through the organisation of events, activities and competition throughout Australia. In 2004, IDA plans to offer a wide range of activities for it's members including, but not limited to, driver training, skid pan sessions, social activities as well as charity, competition and demonstration events plus much more. A full calendar of events will be made available shortly. The sport of drift is about complete car control. To drift is to control a vehicle off-axis to the intended direction of travel. This is achieved by promoting oversteer, whereby the angle does not exceed the drivers ability to maintain full control of the vehicle.
