The Import Industry
C-Red replied to Mr Eps's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Rowan, The name rings a bell but I can't place you. I've been keeping my head below the parapet. Whilst I retain my interest in importing and import cars in general years of the beforementioned lowballing, whining and bullshit in the industry made C-Red as an importing business a PITA. The workshop is still going strong and I'm still building stuff personally, just landed an FD this week from Kristian. Basically no-one here is going to do a single turbo Soarer, having said that there is quite a few here already. You may just have to bite the bullet and get the compliance done in the east. Everyone in this thread has made extremely valid points. I dont know what it is about imports but they seem to attract the lowest , snakiest and frankly the most dimwitted of douchebags. And I'm talking about the people that import and comply them - present company excluded of course. These f***tards have no thought about the longeivity of the industry or anything other than what is happening right this instant. If it wasnt for guys like Kristian and I pushing the SEVS envelope then all these greasy haired fat bastards who would be better suited to selling mobile phones would still be selling ECR33s. I mean f**k, some of them still are. Personal vendettas seem to be more important for so many people in this game rather than doing something worthwhile, or even making a good dollar. My recent experience with purchasing a C34 Stagea for myself made it abundantly clear that so many of these c***s are belting 100k off cars and rolling them out onto their lots - shit like that does no-one any favours and ruins it for us all. The Import Industry

Thats a really thoughtful post Mr Eps. If I was being flippant I'd say the reason no-one has done late Soarers is they only made 4 of them, and 3 are already here. The "can't you do it cheaper" mentality of a lot of import punters has soured the industry as a business for me. If I'm providing a service or a product at a reasonable cost then I dont expect to be lowballed or be whined at by the client, its just not cricket. There is an awful lot to owning and running a RAWS workshop as anyone involved will tell you, audits, cubic amounts of paperwork etc etc. I think the service provided in compliance for a RAWS car is extremely good value for what is done these days. Importing Skylines

Dude. Try buying a f***ing full stop. How on earth do you expect anyone with a clue to buy from you when you don't even have a basic concept like punctuation down? Jash -
I wouldnt have said it was spam. I mean really who in here is going to dump 6 large on an attache case. I baulked at paying 200 bucks for a t-shirt when I was there in October. 200 bucks for a lappie I can see the value in, not a t shirt. Jash

I still fail to see what "DOTARS Insider" has brought to the table apart from some half formed, ill conceived snippets of information that anyone with half an ear to the ground would know of anyway. If he wants to garner some respect or credibility he needs to ask his supposed insider mates for something juicy. Even then he's still that far behind the 8 ball that its barely worth the effort. Its not school holidays in the East already is it? Jash

I call shenanigans. DOTARS insider my arse. You've been shown to be a fraud. Give it up. Jash

Amusing Thread. But the point is being missed in a couple of areas. The loopholes in the law under which the S15, Evo 6 are available existed only because the manufacturers didnt place the application to import the vehicles in full volume the instant they became available in Japan. Ever wonder why you cant import a Z33, Evo IX or any model WRX under SEVS? Because they've woken up to the way the law works. The R35 GT-R will NEVER be available as a SEVS import because you can guarantee Nissan have applied for full volume - already. Regardless of when delivery actually occurs. As for the crap about the consumer being worse off. Put down the crack pipe. Nissan didnt build a car that effectively annihilates a 911 Turbo, in all circumstances, to sell a million of them. They are a handcrafted hero car. The top of the tree, much as the R32 GT-R was in 1991 - when they cost 110k - new from Nissan. They dont give a rats about anyone with anything other than a brand new car. Hug it out bitches they aren't doing it for the love. Its Business. Jash

Pass judgement once you've sat in one. Its a real nice place to be. Yes there are buttons and dials everywhere, but thats how high end cars are these days. I sat in one in Ginza on Saturday Night and then again on Sunday - It was gorgeous. Jash

It'll be in the pits as soon as I get it... As for pics I havent got any method of scanning them unfortunately. Jash

I honestly cant see the problem with the gearbox. Talk about Luddites. A well driven DSG will eat a manual car. Not to mention the joy you derive from going in extremely deep, braking hard with your left foot while holding some trail throttle, loading up the 4 wheel drive then coming out of the corner in a beautifully weighted four wheel drift. I think its going to be brilliant. I've picked up a mag over here which has the first undisguised pics I've seen. The front is very clean with some very tasteful carbon detailing on the front sides and rear. It actually reminds me a little of the Carbon Burnout Kit I had on my CPV35.

Press Pass on the 24th too Rezz...Staying at the Ibis in the Pong. Where are you hiding these days during the week? Jash
-
Its not a bad thing. I'm quicker everywhere with an manually changed tip auto, and the best part of a DSG is if you cant be bothered with changing you just snick it into D for Drift and away you go. My OTP read 140 plus on roads - thats well over 150... Jash

Its more than likely going to be the wrong side of 150... Jash

I'd say there would have been mules in the country for quite some time. They'd have had to remap the ECU for 98 rather than 100 RON and I'd imagine they'd have revalved the shocks too. As for security they come with some fairly hefty stuff standard and I imagine a back to base Satellite tracking system would be virtually a given for something like that. I think Silver is the best option. My CPV35 in Silver is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever owned. If the GT-R hadnt have happened in Oz I was going to build my own version - converting a V35 to AWD is actually pretty easy with the right gear. Jash

What I've heard through my sources in Nissan Aus is that we will get an initial allocation of under a hundred cars. They will be subject to the "void warranty if sold within 12 months" clause that they are putting on them in the US. Once the initial allocation is sold then there will be a substantial wait for any further supply. They are currently in production already in Japan in an effort to get some stock before the rush. Australia is only going to get the one spec of car, but with most - if not all the options. Apparently there is no manual option - all cars will have a paddle shifted DSG type sequential box. Not that it worries me. I love belting my GT-8. In a dream world I'd like a black one with black leather with the red stitching, but I know how hard a black car is to keep clean. I think I'll go for a silver one. Jash

Dodgy, Tokes, Osaka/Hyogo, Kokora, FISCO, Back to Tokes for the Motor Show down to Gifu - then fly out on the 29th... Jash
-
Keep it clean guys. You'd be silly to pay outright for a car like that And no there is no money in owning a workshop - the only way to make a small fortune is start with a large one... Jash
-
Who is kicking around in J at the moment. Will be there till the 29th. Would love to see any of you that are there. Will you be around Rezz? Jash
-
Will be at the Tokyo Motor Show to watch the covers come off in 16 days, 23 hours, 46 minutes. Not that I'm counting or anything. Jash

I signed the offer to purchase for my GT-R on Friday. So its an official order now. Apparently only the top Nissan Brass in Australia have been briefed on the spec of the car that we are going to get. They've all had to sign confidentiality agreements until the official J release. Jash
