I was going to say something smart to skylinefreak_33, but I can't be stuffed.... no I haven't had a close call, and probably neither have you I take it... it'll be a different story when you're off your training wheels with that attitude (oops, there was a smart*** comment  ) -
Get something tamer. I was in the same position as you when I got my first car, always thinking I would be sensible on the road. But when I got my license I changed, I liked going faster than everybody else, overtaking people and just "getting there first". It was a stupid attitude to have, and I still have it occasionally until I see what some people do to their cars (people know who I'm talking about). Save the money and get something tame like a commodore or something FWD until you get experience. Read this if you haven't already http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=32289, then reconsider if you want a GTS-T. I suggest maybe a R33 N/A?

Maybe that's the problem, there's more of these damn cars for his parents to buy him. I'm glad you're not hurt mate, but damn, use your head, and I don't mean for an airbag. Get yourself a tamer car and spend some money on driver training. I'm with what Merli, Rezz, Justinfox and the rest of us say, stay out of the GTR until you learn your lesson. This is the second time you've totalled your car (GTR?). It worries me that there's guys like you driving around like this at 2am in Melbourne when I go out regularly to clubs and usually dropping mates off at 2-3am when I'm on my way home. Learn your lesson quick mate, or else you'll fail your next test and wind up looking like your car. 70kph around a corner... christ that's just foolish, I don't care if you're driving a ferarri or a bloody rex, learn your lesson now or you'll learn it behind bars when you kill somebody. Sorry to be harsh, but I'm sick of stupidity. We can beat ignorance out of you, but stupidity is not easily cured. But I thankyou for the wakeup call for when I get my next car, I'm taking a look at doing a course at Driver Dynamics and maybe one run by my local Lyons Club for young drivers. -
okay, I'm adding to this list coz I wanna get to know a few of you guys before I get my 'line later this year. Primary: New Gisborne Secondary: Braemar College Tertiary: Melbourne Uni New Gis and Braemar are all kinda country schools, so dun worry about not knowing them

How much for an R33 GTS
Villainous_J replied to PHaT MR30's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I thought a midlife crisis needed a porchse or a convertible? lol I suppose a GTR would do the job though  -
Questions about buying a 33 GTS-t
Villainous_J replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I know you said it's a one time only thing, but maybe save yourself some money and buy a cheaper car now. I know I had a crappy little magna when I was 17, but I'm 21 now and a rating 2 and can afford the insurance on a 33 GTS-T. If I were you, I'd tell my parents to hold off on the money, invest it for 3 years for my 21st. By then you can get a 34 GT-T (assuming prices will trend that way that quickly) It's your choice though, just sharing my experience, just make sure you enjoy the car you get -
How much for an R33 GTS
Villainous_J replied to PHaT MR30's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
yeah a decent NA for 14-15K, probably import for a couple of grand less (better double check that) dunno about the others specs, probably just the GTS and GTS4 versions with AWD although if it's a midlife crisis, he can afford the insurance on a GTS-T  -
I'm thinking the imola yellow they use on the audi s4. It's a nice matte colour, no pearl or metallic look
-
cool work on the paintjob craved, I've always wanted an imola yellow car, but I want to get a white r33 first, then maybe after a year or two I'll get it resprayed. But looking at your ride, I'm starting to change my mind, blue 'lines look the bomb!

ex-TRIAL Race Queen is my friend...
Villainous_J replied to Rezz's topic in General Automotive Discussion
well done Rezz, I'm now officially jealous!!! the closest I came to an experience like that was when I had an F1 gridgirl in one of my lectures at uni lol damn, somebody book me a flight to japan and get me japanese lessons on CD!!! -
I'm with quickr33melb, nothing wrong with an S15, but a Skyline has a bigger presence. Dunno what's going on about "33's are common". I can count the number of times I've seen a skyline on my fingers (no I ain't a mutant with 50 fingers!) I dunno, maybe it's coz I'm out in the sticks and hardly see one around, I'm gonna have fun cruising up here amongst the holdens and fords

On the topic of car alarms (sorry to hijack the thread) but are they really worth installing? I've got an imobiliser in my car and I think that's enough. A car alarm's just gonna make noise if somebody tries to steal the car, but nobody's gonna check on it. I see car alarms going off all the time in the city and nobody checks the damn things.

Can someone gimmie a ride in a skyline?
Villainous_J replied to Christhenite's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Are talking smokey and the bandit style? lol "Godzilla Vs The Cops: Riding a 'line from Cairns to Coolangatta... the long way" Kinda reminds you of that underground movie of the Ferrari going through Paris (anybody remember the name of that?) Maybe we could get Nissan to fund this like they did "The Run" with the new Z??? lol -
Yeah, but you know, TodayTonight, A Current Affair, all that crap, it's all shock reporting for ratings. But the story does go to show it's a minority that make young drivers with nice cars look like hoons. I hope that story haunts the fools for years to come. I just wish they'd include some responsible young drivers who could actually do that slalom run.

Villainous_J replied to Christhenite's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
LMAO, WHY??????? Just take one look at the US and then Australia... I'll give you a good example why it's better to be an Aussie... WE GOTS DA SKYLINES!!!! They might have the bomb, but hell, we still got the 'Lines. I seriously think we should get onto this ride day idea, it'd be a good day out. Invite some charities, rent a track or somewhere, people who bring GTRs get in free (coz they'll be playing chauffer all day), charge admission and a free ride in a GTR and BBQ, and give any profits to the charities. If anything, it makes the day of a few little kids who need some cheering up. -

Speeding teen kills- (in a skyline)
Villainous_J replied to dale's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
True, but education goes beyond spending days at the track and skid pans. It's about driver awareness and teching better driving techniques, not necessarily advanced techniques, my interpretation anyways -

Villainous_J replied to dale's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah I'm weird, normality's overrated But in all seriousness, you can't deny that in the first 12-18 months of driving on your P's, you're in a far better situation and have better capabilities than when you started out. Maybe it's a good idea, maybe it'll just encourage people to take other's fast cars out for a spin and get into even more trouble. And with education, we're not talking about road-rules here, it's driving skill and sensible, safe driving. You don't need to know road rules to know that 115kph in a 60 zone is a dumb thing. -
1989/1990 R32 GTR Advice
Villainous_J replied to paulr33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Try www.justcarinsurance.com.au and put a quote through, that'll give you a good idea of what you'll be paying. I wouldn't know the insurance on a 32 GTR off the top of my head, sorry Edit: damn URL.... -
Speeding teen kills- (in a skyline)
Villainous_J replied to dale's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Just to facilitate the discussion here; okay, so the problem's not the car, or power and such, but the drivers. So education is the solution here. But how do we weed out the reckless drivers, or furthermore, educate everybody and get these tendancies out of people. Doing 115kph in a 60 zone is just ****ing dumb, I know that, everybody does. Is this kind of stupidity beyond the problems that better driving training and education can solve? In that case, do we accept that these things will happen, or do we impose a power-weight restriction that will hopefully prevent things like this? -

Villainous_J replied to dale's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'd have to agree with you in part with this one. I know I was bit of a nut when I got my P's and thanks to having a not-so-powerful car and a bit of luck, I haven't had any problems (touch wood). I'd support restrictions, but only for the first 12-18 months of being on Ps. By this time most people have experience and the wisdom to drive safely, I know I did. Any thoughts on this? -
Villainous_J i can teach ya manual but i wont happen in my car lol! Only lucky people drive that. But my method of driving is slightly different to what the RACV driving school teach you :aroused: As long as you teach me heel-toe shifting
