I personally prefer concave (and hence I have Stance 5ive rims) I think the photos above are "unfair" as a lowered car with big wide rims & extremely stretched tires, really set off concave rims. But again, that's just a personal view again. If your not planning on dragging your exhaust all around town (ie not planning on lowering it), I think you should really be looking at examples that match your plans. From my personal experience (ie mistake), you should pay close attention to the rim offsets; if you want to avoid adding spacers. One thing which may sway you if your on the fence, is brake dust. I previously had (a small) polished dish, and after a short drive, the rims were covered in brake dust. My new (slightly) concave rims (with a black dish behind the spokes) really "hide" or not collect the brake dust.

Air Conditioning Issues
vee35 replied to V(35)Powarh!'s topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
About 10+ years back I had a car with air-con but without climate control. When I got the air-con re-gassed, the shop would test it with the windows closed and on re-circulate, and the temp coming out of the vents would drop to 4 deg. Things have definitely changed over the years... -
V35 Mechanics/servicing
vee35 replied to Hunter_in_a_V35_250GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
If you find one, let me know. I get my car worked on (so far only Z-tube and Plenum chamber) at Bondi Junction, the guy that owns the shop, owns a GTR. -
Air Conditioning Issues
vee35 replied to V(35)Powarh!'s topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I would of thought the climate control would stop the air from dropping below 18deg? -
not much beyond the car running is necessary. We are in a thread all discussing what is unnecessary.

Low Car + Driveway = Fail. Help?!
vee35 replied to SMOKEYV35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
apple have an issue with flash, and youtube uses flash video -
And now your starting to get a smidge of an understanding. One other thing I am hoping to get out of a reflash, is an adjustment of my throttle map. I find the first 2cm of throttle is way too much of the full power. When others have driven my car, this has been the first thing they have commented on; and now that they mentioned it, its bothering me. Having multiple maps at the flick of a switch would mean I would not need to make a commitment to something extremely soft/relaxed. And now I am up to 4 maps... In the post above by ECC regarding getting our ECU flashed remotely, you also have to buy a cable. I do not understand that (and sent a email to confirm), if they are the ones flashing it. So, it would appear if you do it remotely, we will have to get/pay for a cable.

V35 Tyre Question, My Speedo Is Out
vee35 replied to Murry33's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I am running 285/35/19's on the rear. The concreting just outside my garage is such that as I turn to point the car down the driveway, the rear wheels are pushed up hard into my guards. I had my guards "half" rolled (ie 45deg angle to horizontal, not 90 - directly up). Even if I had no roll on the guards, they would not rub, but come close. My wheels could definitely do with more poke. I was worried if I got my car lowered it would exagerate the look that my guards were empty, even though I have big tyres; but it looks ok (better if it had more poke). Find yourself a gutter or uneven piece of ground, and see how you go. I think I paid about $50 a guard to get them rolled (got the guys name from this board). He came round to my place, and did it in less than an hour or two from memory. I got them done as I had no idea what would happen on a hard corner at high speed with a dip in an emergency situation; the least opportune time for a blowout or something. -
not everyone has a laptop or wants to own one. As for switching between maps, from memory, there are 5 when you enable it. Imagine there are only 3. 1 for your every day where you use your foot to control the show. Now, you could have 1 for when you are not that sure how much fuel is left or when the next petrol station (with 98) is coming up. The last map (of the 3) is for when you want a little more... of everything. Our cars also have a "power" setting for the transmission. I personally do not drive with it on all the time either. There are people who do bungee jumping, I don't "get it", but I can understand that "they" want to. Each to their own, and Everest because its there. As for reflashing, the switch (if you could understand why) would not require pulling over or carrying around a charged laptop. Plus every reflash does include a risk that something could go wrong (eg laptop crash in the middle of a flash).

98 Vs 95 Octane With The Factory Ecu
vee35 replied to 180 wanabe's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
from my understanding, the logic for running 98 is that the fuel in Japan is higher octane than 95, dont know what it is, and its confusing on the net as they talk of different scales / measurements. I think most people are actually concerned that the ECU can't stop the pre-detonation. These engines have pretty high compression. -
V35 Coupe Install Standard 350Z Springs Questions
vee35 replied to vee35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Sheldon2369 had the 350Z springs, and his car looks like it dropped more than 0.5 of an inch, but he also has a body kit which may help give that impression. Maybe the track version is lower, and it gives 1". I found it also confusing as you have to be careful to check if your reading about a coupe or a sedan. Hopefully someone will know for sure. I took this from one of his posts, as his "before" photo: and from his carsales add, looking at his rear wheel, I think it looks at least an inch: As for DIY, its a tool, location and time thing. If its left for me to do, it wont happen. -
Hi, I tried searching the forum, but just ended up with more questions (or multiple different answers to mine), hoping someone can help me. And it all relates to a 2003 Coupe. 1. Does anyone have detailed before and after photos of a coupe converting to 350z springs 2. Are all 350z springs the same, or are there different rates and lengths etc 3. My V is a 2003 model, what range of year models should I be looking at in 350z's 4. I'm lazy, so anyone got a rough ballpark idea of how much I should expect to pay a garage to fit them? 5. from my understanding, I should expect a 1" drop. But have have read posta saying to only expect 0.5 and others say 1.1". Is it a known quantity, if so what? 6. Anyone got some for sale (I'm in Sydney) Thanks in advance.

Tony, it was Tunehouse. Maybe we should talk. Providing two cars in one go (with others interested) may be the push they need to make the commitment to getting UpRev enabled / experienced or whatever. Their price did worry me, but it did include a new ECU piggyback unit. I liked them for it as I want the dyno tune and the drive-in-drive-out service they would provide.\ On a side note, my garage in Bondi Junction provides a Dyno tune service, whereby they send the cars to marrickville for the tune (no piggyback ECU, just a tune), and they said it would cost around $1200 and said the guy was really good. I think it would be sent to Tunehouse.

Cant help you with the Michelin, however I recently (3 weeks ago) replaced my two front tyres from BF Goodrich (came from Japan on the car and the same models are not available in Aus) to Yokahama Advan Sports (245x19 35). Since changing, it appears the front have WAY more grip. The Traction control kicks in much later; it is now more me that holds back on corners than reaching the point that the traction control kicks in. I have noticed if I do try to push it to find the grip break point, the rears (Falken FK452 285x19 35) will break first. Not a fan of over-steer but at least I know the fronts are grippy. I am expecting pretty low KM's from these, but I could be wrong. Only had experience with a little rain thus far, but so far, pretty happy. They are not cheap. I think retail is over 400 each.

I don't know WHEN i'll get around to it due to working M-F, but the cruise control (Chris's version), and an UIpRev reflash are definitely on the list. Also finding a Sydney place offering UpRev is not as easy as it is for those further North. If I found an easy solution to the second problem, it would make the first a little more of a priority, and maybe the tune house could talk directly with UpRev US to determine its compatibility. I contacted a Marrickville dyno tune place I thought might have it, but they do not, and they offered me a piggy-back ECU and tune for 1.7K including the dyno tune.
-
It Sounds like you were almost done. Are you by any chance near Sydney and be willing to give someone else a go with their car?
-
On the web, you read that the Uprev reflash can have up to 5 stored tunes which can be accessed via the cruise control. Any options for our cars without cruise control? Does Chris's mod to add cruise control work with the uprev reflash mod to chose a tune?
-
Not my car, just an image I grabbed from internet. My car is silver, and still has the OEM grille.
-
When I first read this, I thought you said "Gummy Bear".Harsh, but fair... Although I also like the black grille, its a little too subtle for me.

Hi, Has anyone dealt with this eBay seller? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350691872264#ht_9303wt_910 Or if you know of a better option locally (Sydney city) that would be even better.

Best Tyre/wheel Sizes For Handling
vee35 replied to rs88's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Slightly off topic, but does anyone have a ballpark figure on powder-coating a set of 4 rims? and also, another strange question, do they / can they powder-coat the inside (ie where the tyre covers) as well? -
What's Your Average Km To A Tank?
vee35 replied to Seano350GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I fill up at 400km. Never got 80 L back into the tank, but my gauge is broken, so I dare not risk it. -
From images I have seen online, the motor seems well closed off, so I would say all the "generated gunk" you see is basically bits that were once part of the motor itself... this of course is coming from someone who appears to have "solved" their window problems with a mild bang on the outside of the door with his hand. twice...

What Have You Done To Your V-Series Today?
vee35 replied to SMOKEYV35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I pumped up my front left Tyre! Well, not to amazing, however I only knew the front ,left was low because a few weeks ago i "installed" a tyredog remote pressure sensors. I bought it on eBay, and wish I had had it a few months earlier. I lost pressure in my front right, and didn't realise till a few KM's later. Enough to put a big dent in the rim, basically forcing me to get new rims (expensive). If anyone was hesitating about getting this, I would say go-ahead. Its a simple "install", you simply put on these special valve caps put a battery in and your away. It was interesting to see that the Tyredog was showing 27psi and the digital pump at the station also said 27psi.
