Power Window Motor Replacement/clean
vee35 replied to 180 wanabe's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I know I am living on the edge, but a few weeks ago, mine jammed in the down position and it was a long cold drive from where I was to home. I searched the internet for some clues, and found it was a common problem. I found one post where someone just whacked their door, and it worked, so I gave it a go. It worked. The window went up, and kept working for a few weeks, before it happened again. And another whack, and it was back in action. This is no permanent fix in my eyes, but if you get caught out, give it a go to get home. And we are not talking too hard, and it was on the outside of the door, I did it from sitting in the drivers seat, with my arm out the door. -
[diy] Put A/v Input For 350gt W/o Reverse Camera
vee35 replied to Frank350GT's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
It all depends where the video is coming from? I do not use the built in TV, as it only tunes to JP channels, however, I always reverse without the handbrake on, and if they wanted to, the passenger could watch videos while the car is moving. From memory, all I did was ground "Cont1" -
Strange Traction Control Behaviour On V35?
vee35 replied to vee35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I must mean the VDC. I didn't know we had both, and it was definitely the wheels locking up; I think mostly or just the fronts usually. I have been meaning to get my ODB2 up and running, does this mean I will have access to an accelerometer for G forces??? I'll put it on my list, but when something works.... OK, so its normal, and its nothing loose.'Thanks guys. -
Strange Traction Control Behaviour On V35?
vee35 replied to vee35's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Nope, no tyre changes or anything else was done, only the stuff listed above. So I would guess, you car (mine is also a 5AT) always acted as mine is now acting? My front tyres are old, but not bald (they just passed rego). They came with my car from Japan, but look old and very very slightly cracked, but still well within safety. I'll get my mechanics to check my control arm bushes next time its in. Any other symptoms with that? The other strange thing (which I have hesitated to post as its hard and weird to describe), is that when I brake hard (even from 40km/hr), the front makes a strange sound like a spring or metal stick vibrating (kinda a metallic "boing") -
When I first got my V35 I was quite surprised about how "sensitive" and "aggressive" the traction control appeared to be. By sensitive, I mean it would kick in waaaaay before I would of expected. I do not drive like a hoon, but at low speeds, going around a round-about above "standard" speed, it would kick-in. Doing the speed limit around a sweeping corner, if there was a slight dip in the road or bump on one wheel, it would kick-in. By "aggressive" I mean, when it kicked in, it would appear to lock the wheels for about 0.5 seconds (which is quite long, and it appeared to be the fronts). It worked safely and all, but it was like my grandmother had tuned the thing... Is this what others have experienced? Anyway, I just recently had some work done on the car, and even though I haven't driven it that much, the whole behaviour appears to have changed big time. Now, it appears to allow the car to go "closer to the edge" before it kicks in; well within safety limits and still there. AND it feels a thousand times less aggressive, in that instead of holding the brakes on for 0.5 seconds, it holds it for about 0.1 seconds; but still very effective (it actually feels safer because you get control back sooner, and there is considerably less forced skidding). Now the changes that were made, that I don't think would of had any effect are (just for completeness): 1. New Apexi Air filter 2. Z-Tube 3. 5/16" plenum Spacer Now, the one change that could of had an effect was, a 6 cable Grounding Kit (since the traction control is electronic) Anyone experience the same? or any ideas? Was this "normal behaviour" in its prior state? or Now? I could be wrong about all this, as I haven't driven it all that much since the change, but its a definite noticeable change.

does it still turn off if you put the climate control down to the lowest (ie 18)?

Having Fuel Capacity Sensor Problems
vee35 replied to itsRICHARD's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
yep got the problem, and its next on the list to be fixed. And by fixed I mean the q-tip cleaning -
You will need the rims, and glasses with a special filter (as used on the camera or photoshop) for everyone that looks at your car to get the full effect.

Self Intro, Any Help Would Be Much Appreciated
vee35 replied to JustinVu's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I think the thing that makes this car look great is the fact that it has been lowered (and the wheels have a good offset filling the guards).I have just got new rims. One thing I found was that the rims I bought, I liked a lot (Stance 5ive in sliver and black), but they ONLY came in a set offset; they were also more expensive (450-550 each rim in 19"s). On the other hand, I could of gone for cheaper rims (around 250-350 per rim) that would of had a custom offset. I also learnt that 19" rims are a bit of a orphan size as compared to 18's or 20's, so you are more limited in choice and I would guess in tyre choice as well. One thing I am really happy about with my choice is how great they are in regards to break dust. I previously had chrome wheels with a dish, and it was a constant battle with brake dust. Just for reference, Tempe tyres do 245 35 19' for a little over $200 http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products.php?Falken%20FK452 I personally have an issue with my fuel guage readings (quite common I have read), so I think my readings are a little bit random. Around the city, I get about 14-15l/100km but on the highway I can get that down to 9 or even in the 8s. -
I got new rims. I think they look good, but was very suprised how well they fit within my guards. The fronts are 8.5x19 with 245, and the rears are 9.5x19 with 285's on them. Plenty of space in the guards for wider. The rims are Stance 5ive. The thing I probably love the most about these new rims, is how well they resist brake dust build up.

Hi, I have searched and searched, and as usual with the internet, I have found conflicting responses. I have a 2003 V35 Coupe, and have decided to get a Plenum spacer, and am interested in the Skunk2 5/8" plenum spacer. The problem is, that while investigating this option, I have found numerous posts on various websites, that say there is an issue with Bonnet clearance and the standard engine cover on the coupe, when installing the 5/8" spacer. Has anyone here specifically installed this spacer?

Not sure how much of it actually applies only to the G35, and how much also applies to our Nissan V35's, but this web site appears to have a lot of interesting info. http://www.nicoclub.com/infiniti-technical-articles

Newbie Advice Please 350Gt
vee35 replied to reverseworm's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
By chance, the other day I was running about just under half and then the next time I looked at the guage, the fuel had dropped to almost empty after a few Klm's! I wasn't going to risk it, so I pulled into a gas station and checked how much fuel it took to fill the tank up, and it only could take 30 liters the guage / sensor is clearly somehow playing up. And I noticed yesterday, it appeared to be falling faster than I expected. When I last filled it up, I thought the same thing with the trip meter. After I filled it up and drove home (on the freeway), the trip meter was at 90km and the economy screen on the cars screen was showing an estimate over 510km from memory. However, the fuel guage is now at about 60% after only 150km. My car idles well, and is smooth revving all the way up to 6000, no issues. One of the reasons I chose my car over others in the lot, was because it felt it had more "get up and go"; which I realised could of been caused by a ECU reboot triggered by a flat battery in the lot. But I guess it couldn't hurt. My last car simply required disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, its the same on these cars I would guess? -
The car looks nice, but I am not in the market to buy as I already have mine, so feel free to ignore my questions. How do you know that your mileage is genuine? I bought mine from a dealer with very low mileage, but I am sure it was wrong (due to the wear in the driver side carpet under the accelerator pedal). I am sure I have read someone mention a way to check?

Newbie Advice Please 350Gt
vee35 replied to reverseworm's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Now I know something is wrong! On highway cycle, my screen can show numbers below 9L/100km, however, no matter how gentle I drive around in the city and suburbs, that can go up to 24L/100km; and I normally do drive trying to see if I can stave off the economy figure. I think over 20L/100km is the norm for most driving. -
Just a quick play with 3D. You will need the coloured glasses on these. The Green Magenta are the best of the batch. If you dont have glasses, youll have to squint really hard 1st one you will need Green-Magenta glasses, 2nd One will need Red-Blue (the most common I think) 3rd Requires Cyan-Red glasses. It was done using a standard (phone) camera and a trick, so its not the best.

Ha! know its not real, but check this video at 00:16s Good to know we got included under "Supercars" as well.

I went with a CarPC, and left the dead CD staker where it was. I can also switch over to the inbuilt nissan computer for fuel economy and service intervals etc I have my CarPC plugged into this screen using a cable from Chris, and also a reverse camera which switches over automatically when you put it in reverse. So the factory screen is very useful. My center console looks completely stock, and it all tucks away as original.

I have the exact same tyre and rim sizes, with a different tyre brand on my V35 Coupe, with standard ride height, and unknown (to me) offset, but the width simply appears to be "eaten up". They do not look that wide, and people are in disbelief when I point out just how wide the rear tyres are.I found some uneven ground which pushed one of the rear tyres high up into the guard, and I could fit a finger width between the guard and the side of the tyre. I got the guards half rolled just to be safe under load and cornering.

My car is the oh so rare silver , which has a clear coat on it. Does the black v also have a clear coat? What "minor paint corrections" does Mr Detail do?

http://www.ebay.com....E:X:RTQ:AU:1123 I just cant believe it, but its so hard to resist at this price (which is what they are counting on...) But even if it adds no performance, and simply increases my fuel economy around town, it would be appreciated (even the wording says "average", meaning some could be none to negative). But the thinking part of me is jumping up and down yelling SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! Has anybody tried these? or even know a "friend of a friend"....

And now some "fun" stuff. Although my Blazt cable does not curr4ently work, this is a photo of the software running a demo file: Also, on my phone, I have a G-Force r4ecorder / plotter. Howsever, since it is freeware, it does not work in landscape, and hence it does not fill the entire screen. It actually has all three dimentions, with the Red line basically being the forward and back plane (ie accel and breaking) and one of the others is left and right (ie cornering) and the last is up and down (ie bumps). In the photo, I did a small acceleration run (red line above middle axis) followed by6 a hard brake to pull over and take a photo. Its pretty sensitive, and from the red line graph I can see I started out on fairly flat ground, and stoped o an incline. If the red line had hit the top, it would be telling me I hit about 1G. I can also record these results, and load them up into stuff like excel.
