CELEBRATING THE FORCE INDIA WAY
The engineering team at Force India say they're really looking forward to the staff Christmas party this year after they secured 6th place in the constructors' table. As yet they don't know when the party will be but Vijay Malya has promised to give them a date by January.BRUNDLE ON THE OCHE
Martin Brundle has announced he will be moving to head up the new Sky F1 coverage in 2012. Commenting on the fact that the BBC would only have been showing 10 races 'live' Brundle said that "commentating on only 10 'live' races, doesn't give me the adrenalin fix I need." Observers in the pitlane have noted that it probably didn't give him the kind of 'salary fix' he needs either. Brundle's move will be along with the BBC's David Croft, who apart from providing F1 commentary for Radio 5 Live, is a darts commentator. As Brundle is known as 'The Bobby George of the Pitlane' (both love their man jewellery) it looks to be a marriage made in heaven. Sky have yet to break it to Martin that he'll be covering World Darts from Frimley Green. "Are you ready? Lets. Play. Darts!"
THE JOY OF SIX
Kimi Raikkonen's much anticipated return to F1 in 2012 has brought divided opinion in the paddock. While many think that having six World Champions on the grid is great news for the sport, others point to Raikkonen's lack of effort and commitment in his final races for Ferrari. A spokesman for Kimi said the Finn was back in training and highly motivated for his grand prix return. He'd gone down to the shops himself to buy the Codemasters F1 2011 game and put his name on the waiting list for a local gym.
FOTA LOSE THREE
It's been a bad week for FOTA with three teams leaving the organisation for a variety of reasons. Ferrari have left because they can't get their way over three-car teams, Red Bull have left because they can't stand the snidey remarks about breaking the Resource Restriction Agreement, and Virgin/Marussia have left because they want to be included in the same sentence as Red Bull and Ferrari.
POSITIVE SPIN-SKY
Vitaly Petrov has been expressing his wish to stay at the Renault team, just a few weeks after trashing them in a Russian TV interview. Even on his best behaviour Russia's only F1 driver wasn't mincing his words: "I learn a lot from the 2011 season. I learn very much - and I will never learn so much, even in the future, because we have so many problems." Media experts believe that if he can't get a drive in F1 next year that he should consider a career in International Diplomacy as a special envoy for Vladimir Putin.
