  2. Renault says low RPM corners could be factor in alternator failures. "Our investigations after Valencia revealed potential overheating problems at low RPM," said White. "We developed a revised alternator that was validated on the test bench and trialled at Spa by Red Bull and Lotus - the teams that suffered the issues in Valencia - and no issues were found. "The fundamental change was to lengthen the alternator stator and rotor by 10mm to increase its electrical power generation capacity where current demand exceeded the alternator's capacity to supply. "With this new spec we can deliver around 30 per cent more current to try to address the problems at low RPM." "In each case it was a brand new example of the new spec," he added. "After the incidents in FP3 and qualifying, we changed the alternators on the Red Bull of Vettel and the Lotus of d'Ambrosio. The race incident was therefore a further early life failure. "Other parts have achieved much higher mileages; it is therefore a priority to discern the significant differences between the two. The situation is not acceptable; we must address the problem for Singapore." White says Renault's options for Singapore are reverting to an old specification design or trying to come up with a brand new part. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102454
  3. Renault have apologised to Red Bull after an alternator failure put Sebastian Vettel out of the Italian GP. Renault, the reigning Champion's engine supplier, later revealed that it was an alternator failure that cost the seb a solid points-haul. http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8068997/Renault-apologise-for-failure Robert Kubica made a winning return to competitive motorsport at the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana in Italy on Sunday. Driving a Subaru Impreza World Rally Car, Kubica won all four stages of the rally to claim the title by almost a minute over his nearest rival, Omar Bergo. http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/8069009/Kubica-wins-Italian-rally

  9. Fernando Alonso missed out on his 'easiest' chance for a pole position in 2012 after suffering a suspected broken rear anti-rollbar in Q3 for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102354 excuses, excuses... Robert Kubica still hopes that he will be fit enough to return to Formula 1 in the future - but admits he still has a long way to go before he will know if that target is achievable. The Pole is returning to competitive action this weekend in a Subaru WRC car at the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana Rally in Italy, which he sees as an important step in his rehabilitation programme. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/102374

  13. Formula 1's frontrunning teams could face a dramatic increase in entry fees for next year's championship if plans being considered by the FIA come off. Taking last year's constructors' championship standings, the entry fees in Euro under that new plan would be: Red Bull (650 points) 5.050 million McLaren (497 points) 3.979 million Ferrari (375 points) 3.125 million Mercedes (165 points) 1.655 million Lotus (73 points) 1.011 million Force India (69 points) 0.983 million Sauber (44 points) 0.808 million Toro Rosso (41 points) 0.787 million Williams (5 points) 0.535 million Caterham (0 points) 0.500 million HRT (0 points) 0.500 million Marussia (0 points) 0.500 million http://www.autosport...t.php/id/102225 Lotus has confirmed that its reserve driver Jerome d'Ambrosio will take Romain Grosjean's seat for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix. http://www.autosport...t.php/id/102235 i can't wait for that^.
  14. This is what i was thinking. Everyone gets 2/3 sessions of practice/time to set up their car then they nominate a time they think they can match. Then everyone gets five consecutive timed laps to match their time they nominated, you get penalized for going too fast and beating the time you nominated and you also get penalized for going slower than your nominated time. The person with the closest overall time and least number of penalties wins. This way it takes out the ‘’I’ve got more money then you so I win’’ aspect of motor racing. Thoughts? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/408502-sau-nsw-motorsport-championships/
  15. bracket racing isn't door to door racing. at least the way i'm thinking about it.

  17. i would like to see. nsw import club bracket racing championships. now i know the logistics of organising such a event will make it tuff but i think it would be very beneficial to all the import clubs in nsw to a) get their club out there, b) get the message out there that we're not all racing (or hooning) on the roads, c) the friendly competition d) it will help our clubs grow and become more respected in the community. thoughts anyone?

  19. Pasta marinara will be demoted 10 places on the Italian Grand Prix grid as a punishment for both jumping the start in Belgium and colliding with Timo Glock. http://www.autosport...t.php/id/102186 Caterham has been given a €10,000 fine for releasing Heikki Kovalainen from the pits in an unsafe manner during the Belgian Grand Prix, but other pit incidents involving Mark Webber and Michael Schumacher were not punished. http://www.autosport...t.php/id/102203 Romain Grosjean has accepted his one-race ban for causing the multi-car accident at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix, but says the punishment is hard to take. The 26-year-old Frenchman was banned from participating in next weekend's Italian Grand Prix and fined €50,000 after the Spa stewards concluded he caused an avoidable crash at La Source. "When you love racing this is very hard," said Grosjean. "I accept my mistake." Grosjean maintained he did not intend to squeeze Lewis Hamilton's McLaren towards the pitwall on the inside, prior to the contact that caused them both to collide with Fernando Alonso's Ferrari and both Saubers. "We know that La Source is a very tough corner. It was a bit of a crazy start as well with [Pastor] Maldonado leaving [the grid early] and the Sauber [Kobayashi] smoking a lot," said Grosjean. "I did a mistake and I misjudged the gap with Lewis. I was sure I was in front of him. So a small mistake made a big incident. "I didn't change my line, I went from left to right. I was not really wanting to put anyone in the wall - I'm not here to stop the race in the first corner. I'm very, very sorry and I'm glad that nobody is hurt. "But I have to say it is a very, very hard decision to hear." Grosjean, who has been involved in five early-race incidents this year, said he was more angry with himself than with the penalty, but added that the accidents were not all caused by over-aggression. "I did too many," he said. "If there is more than one then that is too many, I agree. But as I say it is not always the same. It's not over-aggressive by braking 200 metres too late, it's just most of the time misjudgement of the space I have in front or the space I have on the side. "It's true that we don't see much in the mirrors and stuff like that and it goes very quick at the start. "I was to be honest 100 per cent sure I was in front of Lewis but I was not so I need to rethink about my view of the car. "I am the most angry at myself to have misjudged the gap with Lewis's car." Grosjean said that his focus now was on analysing what led to the ban and to ensure that the rest of the season continues without error, adding that he hoped it would not affect his chances of keeping his drive with Lotus in 2012. "It is too much. I know that. Some are not my fault, but yeah I will analyse that and I will try to not repeat it in the seven last races," he said. "For sure I don't want to do any more [crashes] by the end of the season. So I will work, I will analyse as much as I can to try and avoid those. Some were misfortune, some were my mistake but now it is time to finish that." http://www.autosport...t.php/id/102205
