It started happening after i installed the whiteline handling kit... I also have 18inch wheels.. The car feels heaps tighter, but the CD jumps as soon as i hit a pothole... Ill check the wiring again, but i dont think it is an issue..
-
great - looking forward to meeting some other local members... Also want to benchmark the car on the dyno before i get my stage 2 mods on...
-
Speaking about mp3 players.. Half thread hijack.. :sadam: I got the cheapy JVC KD-S785 MP3 player... Good unit - however, since i got the suspension fixed on the car, the CD's jump everytime i hit half a pothole... Any good mp3 decks out there with track memory to reduce this ??

Hey CS_180.. Yes, i am ...going to meet up with Loz and whoever else at Maccas whenever... Also interested in the dyno day...
-
I gotta agree with Lozza - i have the HKS super dragger, and i love it.. Since you are a Coastie like me, feel free to PM for a demonstration if you are unsure !!

Geez - what have i got myself into ?? :nowigetit i hope i get my pod box by then...

Hey Guys.. Have heard that by installing an Electronic Boost Controller, it is illegal for the roads - true or false ?? If true, does anyone know the reason ?? And would a bleeder also fit into this category ?? Im sure insurance would have a field day with this legality.. :nowigetit

It all depends on how fussy you are with your skyline, i suppose.. For me - ive heard too many horror stories about car parks (not only thefts, but scratches, trolley bumps, etc).... And as a result i wouldnt take my car to a shopping centre carpark...(unless they had valet..) Standout blackspots are Macquarie shopping centre, Bankstown Square and Westfield Parra & Miranda..

ECU - PowerFC, E-Manage or SAFC for me ??
Gizmo73 replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
So in buying the powerFC, do you need to buy the controller as well, even if you dont plan on fiddling with the tune ??? i thought you could just buy the powerFC itself, go to a tuner and get the work done... -
ECU - PowerFC, E-Manage or SAFC for me ??
Gizmo73 replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hey Adam... Thanks for the feedback - i think im definetely sold on the PowerFC now... would like to hear also about peoples experiences with the powerfc boost controller module.... Hey Joel... Regarding the wategate actuator, is it like the current stock setup where under about 5000rpm the boost is lower, then is increased abover 5,000rpm ?? Or is it vacuum controled ie how heavy the foot ?? -
ECU - PowerFC, E-Manage or SAFC for me ??
Gizmo73 replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thanks for that Joel - i was really interested in seeing a rough figure for what the extra $800 got me... looks like powerfc it is... Regarding the boost controller - being a daily driver (and doing a fair few freeway k's) i would want dual stage. On the freeway i would definetely use the lower setting, as i wouldnt need a constant 11psi.. Having said that, i may have to investigate the rb20 wastegate actuator option anyway - dont know all that much about it, honestly.. thanks for the info !! -
ECU - PowerFC, E-Manage or SAFC for me ??
Gizmo73 replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thanks for the comments up to date guys.. so far it looks like option 2 (PowerFC with other boost controller) is winning out... however, the cost of this would be approx... powerFC = $1000 boost Controller = $500 Tune = $600 So im looking at around the $2000 dollar mark.. If i was to go safc II - $500 boost Controller - $500 Tune - $200 There is a considerable saving for other mods !! My question is - for my original target power and torque, how much extra would you gain in ignition and other tuning over just fuel maps, and is it worth the extra $800 or so ?? -
New Face: I just might be able to turn up... Cool, my first Skyline Cruise !!!

Spotted: A white R34 GTS25T in Macquarie Shopping Centre carpark !! You got guts, ill give you that !!!

ECU - PowerFC, E-Manage or SAFC for me ??
Gizmo73 replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
..and then should i go the incorporated boost controller, or another brand if i was to go the PowerFC route ?? -
Hey Guys.. I understand the virtues of each unit listed above (thanks to the search button), but for my circumstances, which would be the best unit to go for ?? Background: The turbo is staying stock Boost will be dual stage - low setting 8-9psi, high setting 11-12psi... Currently, no boost controller or ECU management...(but needed) The car is a daily driver, not chasing maximum power, happy with max 200rwkw...rather have good torque and power spread.. Already have full exhaust, intercooler, whiteline handling, good tyres, etc etc... Option 1: PowerFC with boost controller unit add on (ie is the boost controller reliable ?) Option 2: PowerFC with other boost controller (profec B, etc..) Option 3: SAFC-II with other boost controller (profec B, etc..) Option 4: E-Manage with other boost controller (profec B, etc..) Option 5: Other (unichip, etc..) with other boost controller (profec B, etc..) I suppose the real question is - with my current goals, what is to be gained with the ignition timing and full ECU management over the SAFC-II (fuel only) ?? I know that ingition and full ECU is better overall, but is the extra cost worth it in my case ?? Thanks in advance...

Hey Guys... thought id finish the story... got the whiteline handling kit installed, and found in the process that both front tyres were showing threads on the inside, due to not having a camber kit !!! So - the handling kit and two front tyres later (235X40X18's thankyou very much !!) and the car sticks like glue to the road ... Damn happy to go this option and leave it at that - with the current wheel/handling/suspension setup i dont plan on lowering the car, as it will cause more hassles daily driving in/out of driveways than be an effective mod... and so - onward and upward to the drivetrain and engine mods... thanks again to Sydneykid for the input... Cheers, Matt

made the news on both the radio and TV locally... Someone in a 96 black GTR R33 (wth for sale sign in the window) was followed to a shopping centre around Tuggerah, and was asked for keys when they got out at gunpoint... Cops later found the car abandoned in a underground parking lot for apartments in wyong....apparently OK... Have yet to find those responsible... the car looked nice from what i saw on the news too...didnt show the plates (of course)

Internal and External Cam Gear...
Gizmo73 replied to Gizmo73's topic in General Automotive Discussion
bumpity bump ?? From the talk on the forums, ex cam gear seems the way to go.. why not do the intake gears ?? -
So sydneykid...is the below correct ??If you were running stock turbo and intercooler, then using a boost controller you would be wise to go no more than a 9psi setting for reliability.. However.. If you were running the stock turbo with...say...a GTR intercooler, an 11-12psi setting (electronic boost controller) would be reliable ??
