  1. Just a little update... Got FHRX (Marty) to install the Hertz splits today - and they sound great !!! Even though they are powered off the deck.. Thanks again Marty - you did an awesome job.. P.S - now i understand about the tweeters in the kick panel !! Cheers, Matt
  2. Hi Steve.... Thanks for the reply... After closer investigation, this noob managed to find the BOV.... However - is this normal ?? i found printed on the BOV a mitsubishi icon, and the part number K5T09474.. It however does look very stock looking... Im real confused - as this is my first skyilne i know what an aftermarket NOB looks like, however im new to the whole skyline normalities.. Cheers, Matt
  3. Thanks for the reply Cameron... Ill try and take some pics soon - i will have to borrow a digital camera.... I know i dont have anything exotic like that BOV you detailed - what does the standard one look like, and should itmake these noises ???
  4. Hi Guys... New to the turbo (being a V8 man), and got a question im hoping you guys can answer (and in the process make me look like a noob !!) Had the car for one week.. Very happy with it !! Its got an hks super-dragger exhaust, turbo timer, HKS air pod and ECU mods...not boosted. When i accelerate over 3,000rpm, you really can hear the air being sucked into the pod... However, when i stop accelerating to change gears, you get a big whoosh noise. Its not like a whip cracking or anything like that - more like a whistle... Is this the noise coming from the pod, or do i have an aftermarket BOV im not aware of ?? ( is the pod suppost to make this noise ??) How can i tell if i have an aftermarket BOV ?? Location, what im looking for, etc... Thanks in advance, Matt
  5. Yep Jay - count me in, if you have any of this order left.... Cheers, Matt
  6. Great colour craved !! Nice original colour - excellent first time job !!
  7. Sorry to half-hijack, but somewhat related... If this is the case, does the boost level come on later when you are in high revs in 5th gear if its related to manifold pressure ??
  8. Hey DJ984... Could you also PM me with the name of this place ?? I have my 100k service due soon, and i definetely dont want to go there... Good luck with your hassles, and i hope you get some joy...
  9. Hey Guys... For a commerical quick fix, crystal car wash at Chatswood gets the big thumbs up... They are reputed to be the best in Sydney, and i really cant argue it.. Bit expensive - for about $80 you will get wash & wax, interior clean, tyres/mags clean, deodoriser, etc, etc... The good part is you get a free coffee and can relax as they get it done....i can watch hard work all day !! You can usually tell the place by the clientelle - everytime im there, you are guaranteed to see some new porsche, merc or beamer... Havent had any hassles with them, they do a good job and its low fuss. My 2 cents...
  10. hks exhaust hks pod ecu mods mixture of freeway and city driving (daily commute) - 420kms per tank... im happy with that... Heavy use of the right foot has brought it down to about 350....
  11. Thanks heaps Darrin... Ill check out the loca nissan dealers here, and if not ill PM...
  12. ....for a skyline ??? Or do you have to specify another (locally manufactured) model ??
  13. Hey Guys... Sacreligious i know, but i got myself the gear knob from an BA XR6 turbo... One of the aluminium-looking ones... Its great..

  17. Hi Guys.. After searching the forums, i found some of the answers to my questions, but not all... Background: R33 series 1, exhaust, TT, HKS pod filter, standard boost.. Just got it yesterday, and i love the drivability of it. A bit short on power and slower than my last car (modded LS1), but i think its more fun to drive !! Anyway... Boost Guage: I understand about the different measurements from psi to hmmmmm...(etc), however on the standard boost guage when is the car actually on boost ?? Is it when it reaches positive territory ?? What does the negative (-) readings mean ?? Also, if i dont plan on boosting the car, do i need a boost guage for diagnosis, or is the standard guage enough ?? Oil Guage: What are the standards ?? At idle, my pressure is a between 4 and 2, when driving around 60-70k's its between 4 and 6, and on the freeway doing 110-120 its always around 7. The previous owner used penzoil 10w-40, and next service im changing to the Motul. Also, would an oil pressure guage be required, or are these pretty accurate ?? Thanks in advance guys... Matt
  18. Thanks for that predator... The amp is later on in the year - ive jsut gotta do something about those front speakers - they suck !!! Anything past 10 on the deck, and they distort
  19. Baffle ?? Care to elaborate ?? Sorry, i can/have wired my own deck into the R33 already - but im still a noob with the terminology !!
  20. Yep its definetely the build year... Talked to the RTA technical line, and they reckon its a common stuff up with imported cars.... Note though - a finance company will not accept the car as collaterol (sp?) if the compliance year is on the rego papers...
  21. Hey Roy.. They do state that while in Ketosis, it is a condition in which you cain maintain your current muscle levels - however they do not recommend muscle gain because of the reasons you put forward. As an interesting fact - the brain cannot live on Ketones, it requires glucose...this is why the Atkins diet recommends at least 20g's of carbs per day. Otherwise, you can have health issues. You are correct in that to check if you are in Ketosis or not you use urine stix (called Ketostix, available at any chemist) - it measures ketones in the urine. When the body is in Ketosis, it will generate as much Ketones as is required to sustain the body. I was in ketosis for about 3 months, and in actual fact i had an abundance of energy and felt great. Having said that, im sure that most people who follow the diet dont really pay attention to the atkins method. To do it properly, you have to have less than 20g's or carbs per day (this means counting carbs instead of calories), drink plenty of water, do a bit of walking and take some vitamin supps. Anyone not doing this could cause themselves considerable long term health issues.
  22. Actually, the diet itself is a hunger supressant... When reducing your carbs, you enter a state of Ketosis, which is a natural hunger supressant... I did the diet last year and lost 35kgs - it definetely works !!! (120kgs down to 85kgs..)
