New Garrett Turbos In The Pipe ?
M@&k replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Maybe, but you'll have stuff all chance of finding a Pro S housing these days I would have thought, and then the issue with the unique dump flange. Kando sells a housing for the cropped turbine. Might be a better option with external gate off housing. Seems to be very limited options for internal gate these days (except Hypergear options). -

Mick got over 280 on 98 I believe. 288 or something? Yep much better now with this housing, and worthwhile change. Should have had it from the beginning. The way it tapers off above 5,500 makes me wonder if I haven't still got a restriction in the exhaust somewhere ( maybe the mufflers). Next year I might consider changing intercooler to Plazmaman setup piping over the rocker covers with stock manifold. Results from Hypergear thread (and Mick_o's reminder) pointed out this restriction is bigger than I realised. -
There's kits available now too. Check out KudosMotorsports.

Nengun were the cheapest I found, even after shipping. Probably best to consider conversion to Bosch top feeds. Won't be much dearer.
-
Hehe, that you did Mick. Been plenty of decent results with Blitz coolers before though (at around 250-260rwkW Mark), which was why I was wondering if the pressure drop is more noticeable at higher boost. Anyways, thanks for posting those results Stao.

Not pretty. Is it relative to the amount of boost, e.g. larger drop at higher boost? Or more relative to flow?

I have 18x9 +20 with 235/40 on the front and also mildly rolled guards. No problem with rubbing. Rear I expect would be fine too. Pics are a couple of pages back. -

Going off topic; but 0.63A/R GTX3067 results are in. Be interested in your thoughts there disco. -

Don't Nitto have a 2.9 offering now too? Or perhaps that was still in development. Or maybe I dreamt it...- 89 replies

Looks Like Garrett Slipped Another Gtx30 Variant In .

Didn't do the calcs for the speed lines myself. Was easier just to grab the pic off the internet. Everyone knows info on the net is always trustworthy. I also suspect this may be the case, and possibly supported by the plot on the comp map. Why I put it up actually. Have a Profec boost controller. I'm sure the gain can be adjusted, but not too confident doing that myself to be honest. -

Below is rough plot of boost on compressor map. The map with speed lines was taken from VW forum where disco was asking about this turbo. I assumed these are correct and have just plotted boost plot from last dyno run on there. I guess the speed lines would shift a bit between the two housings as the vol efficiency changes, but I guess close enough for an idea. Anyway, interested if anyone has any comments. -

Get's em every time Tuner didn't mention what was causing the drop off specifically. He's convinced the turn-flow intercooler is holding it back, and was looking into setting up a pressure reading at turbo outlet to show me pressure drop across the cooler but ran out of time. Wish I had more experience with other turbos, because I don't really have much to compare to. I will say that it seems to build boost in lower gears well too, in 2nd I feel like full boost is not far behind 3,500 rpm as well. In 4th and 5th, positive pressure is being made pretty much as soon as you start on the throttle. The drop off up top is noticeable now, but I rarely get the chance to wind out above 5,500 so suits me fine. In terms of peak power I do still feel it's maybe a bit low. At this level I don't feel it offers much over GT-RS or for example the new GTX2867 kits being offered with bolt on rear housings. Seems like something with my setup is possibly not quite right, but I spent a lot of time making sure I had all the right supporting mods in place... But chasing numbers for kudos on SAU aside, it's definitely heaps of fun, and positive side effect is that I already am setup now for GT30 turbos if I want to go bigger sometime in the future. -
Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results

Changed turbine housing to 0.63A/R internal gate. Blue line is with 0.82, and red 0.63. -

So, here we go. 0.63 housing in and retune. Boost on 500 rpm earlier, and peak power only dropped something like 8 hp from previous but is reached 1,000 rpm earlier. Blue line 0.82 housing, Red 0.63. Haven't had a good drive yet, but noticeably different, and much more like what I was after Edit: haven't worked out how to embed images properly... -
Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines
M@&k replied to Sydneykid's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
18x9+30 seem to work well. I understand the desire to not modify, but really should consider a guard roll. Not that hard / expensive. -
Sounds like a good buy. Good luck with it.

One thing that caught my attention here is that you say it comes with an "adapter flange". By adapter, do you mean a spacer (typically 10mm) so compressor housing clears the manifold? Reason I ask, is that I believe some GT3071s were sold with cropped turbines and a T25 flanged housing (your RB25 stock manifold has a T3 flange). If this turbo you're looking at has a T25 flange and using an adapter to T3, you might want to think twice about it. It's probably just me being paranoid on your behalf, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines

Depends on how much work you're willing to do to make them fit. Camber, roll and flare guards, stretch tyres etc. -

I don't own a GTR so do your own searching (hint), but as a starting point I believe 18x9.5 +12 or 18x10 +18 generally work well on R32 GTRs.
