  1. Thanks for the replys will be starting this weekend if I can find some gaskets.
  2. hear we go, the head gasket in my car is less than 6 months old. and it started leaking coolant at rear of the motor by the firewall. so after further inspection i found out it's the damn head gasket. the retard that last replaced it did not put the outer 3 water jacket bolts in. so i put some bolts in it and it just slowed the leak down but it is still leaking. The car does not smoke or have oil in the coolant so I'm guessing that only the outer part of the head gasket is messed up. so im getting ready to replace the head gasket and have a couple of questions. 1.) i have looked and i cant find a good write up on replacing the head gasket. i have never replaced a head gasket on a non American car. anyone seen one? be nice to have a link. 2.) there is good ARP head bolts in it now, can i reuse them or are they trash after being torqued once? 3.) what about a good place to buy a head gasket set? i will probably just stay OEM as the most boost the car will see is around 1.3 bar. motor came out of a 99 Stagea and is in a r32 GTS-4. any tips, tricks or advice before i start would be appreciated.
  3. Right know they are saying atleast a month I'm prolly just park it and drive my other car. I can get 98 off base but it is supper expensive.
  4. I'm from Okinawa japan and we normally have 95 but with all the stuff going on in toyko were not going to have good gas for awhile.
  5. I didn't know it but the base switched from 95 octane to 86. I filled up without even looking, and o my way to work I started hearing BAD detonation almost like rod knock. I was on my way to work and it was midnight so I drove it to work. When I got off this morning I went and put in a bottle of octane booster and after a few miles it went away car runs fine but what damage could I have done? And is there anyway I can make the car safe to run on 86 without a tune?
  6. Yea they even paid for my cab ride home!
  7. The car was mine, title in hand..... Failed Japanese inspection 3 days later. The dealer was forced to refund my money. As the car needed another 1000$usd plus the 600$ inspection.
  8. Well sorry to wast yalls time but the car failed Jci inspection and had I few other problems so I will not be getting that one :-( But I just found a r32 gts-4 with a rb25detneo swapped into it. should be picking it up here in a few hours!
  9. It is a mines ecu and Iv been asking around and not even my Japanese friends know of any tuners.
  10. I'm in Okinawa japan so getting good quality gas is not a problem. Lowest quality around here is 95. I have no idea why this car has an aftermarket ecu as it is still running stock boost.... It was in the car when I bought it. I just want to make a fun daily driver and maby go slide it on the weekends. I just don't know where to start tuning these cars. There is no dyno's on this island that I know of. Can I just get a good wideband and buy some decent software to get the tuning close enough to be safe? Im new to skylines but not to the performance world.
  11. I'm a out to buy a used 25 turbo. How can I tell if it's a series 1 or series 2? And is there anyway I can manually tune the car myself without blowing the bank.
  12. ok i was under the impression that with the rb25 turbo that i would be safe at 1 bar..... the main thing im worried about is tuning, there is no dyno on this island so i cant just go get a tune. and to be honest i dont know what a "dual vane bb one" is... i am guessing dual vane has something to do with the impeller, and bb means ball baring? im sorry for my ignorance....
  13. so the ecu can compensate for the extra boost? no tuning needed?
  14. another newbie here from okinawa japan. this seems to be one of the best places on the net for skyline/rb motor info. hope to learn.
  15. car already has r33 gtr fuel pump, fmic, after market ecu and full exhaust. everything else is bone stock. i plan on swapping a stock rb25 turbo as i have been told its a small cheap upgrade. and then i would like to turn the boost up to 1bar. what other modifications are needed at 1bar? fuel injectors? maf? FPR? i'm new to these motors so any help/tips/tricks would be helpful. and before i get flamed too bad, i have used the well known "search feature", and didn't have any luck.
