  1. how much was it and where did you get it? Seems like a good unit but there wernt many people using them or many who have reviewed them
  2. what is the first cooler off? It doesn't look like GTR end tanks, the angle of the inlet/outlet will hit the radiator support
  3. GTRPSI do you still have the vid to post it? I use a GW1H (not very good) flashed with DOD software (better), the gf has a G90 which I will give to mum and dad and shes getting the G907S when it turns up. This is 2300x1080p @30 fps or 1920x1080p @60 fps. ill prob get one too and move the G1wH to the rear window and probably buy a Mobius for the rear when the mrs updates her car
  4. Might also depend on your demographic, i.e Sydney lots of 40/50klm zones and not much in the way of over 80klm higher load gears, a few hundred rpm of boost threshold and less off boost power can make driving around on bigger turbos tedious. The opposite if you live in an area with lots of open roads or highways. I.e rural or the US. You can get away with larger turbos since you are mostly above 80klms with very little time spent in stop start traffic and low speed pot holed filled corners, stupid 40klm school zones with not a single kid in sight. In this case you can go for the -5 or 2530's and just not spend enough time off the boil to care. End of the day, it still comes down to drivability first as the main consideration on size, then peak power goals.
  5. Crank trigger kit shouldn't be $2K. Pretty sure Mario had trigger problems back in 2000, even when he went with aftermarket they still had issues for a while. Not exactly a new problem, just more common now.
  6. Sorry I didn't do a full csi investigation before posting... I don't doubt that the turbo can flow it You made a silly statement, I answered it with a silly statement. This is the internet, you can rage all you want, heck even do what I did and "forget" your SAU log on and password created 10+ years ago. No one will hold it against you or really care for that matter.
  7. You can with NOS That ford looks like it has been converted to a solid axle and removed the IRS Who knows whats been done to that thing. My guess is a lot with more to come While on the topic of ford xr6's im a bit disappointed what aussies have done so far in terms of developing it. E.g americans have gone to 4.4l VR38 making 2k hp.
  8. Dial gauge on the end, pinion in vice, oxy on low heat, IR thermometer
  9. The nicer it drives on partial throttle is from the extra power and trims the later ecus have. Point being, dollar for dollar if you can do everything yourself the long block option shits all over a going to a haltech from a pfc, way more off boost torque and power and pretty much 1000rpm less boost threshold. So many variables, like mentioned and in addition the willingness of one tuner to push it harder and another being more conservative. If he used the same tuner and dyno something had to be wrong with it mechanically or electronically. Its common for people to go from a factory ECU to a pfc and gain 15kw minimum, are you suggesting that going from a factory ECU to a haltech with no other changes nets 35kw? Ludicrous Full power is dictated by the engine spec, condition and state of tune. In this day and age and even for the past 10 years 99% of aftermarket ECU's will run engines to their full power potential. I do actually know what the difference is, while I haven't used a haltech, I have gone from stock ecu, to power fc, back to stock but flashed. Granted it wasn't on a GTR but the results are still indicative. and FYI there wasn't a lot of difference between the M800 and flashed stock ecu in terms of drivability. Don't get me wrong, a better ECU is nice, but for a lot of people there are not the number 1 priority if they already have a PFC That would be like having a garrett GT series turbo, then upgrading to an EFR because they can spool a little earlier. Not the best analogy, ok it would be like going from a strong single plate which is rated to hold more tq then what you have and upgrading to a nismo twin plate because it drives nicer and can hold a bit more tq. But at a cost of 3x of what you currently have, which is holding up fine.
  10. Nope, it was 2mm, pinion in particular was from a Subaru front. It is very long and part of the layshaft so box temp is the same as front diff. An R200 is about half the length. Peened, cryo, backlash set for higher temps, gearbox oil cooler and pump solved the problem
  11. Come to think of it the kai may have been the same too. CBF google it
  12. So to add another view: Used PFC $800 New Haltech $1800 Dirty 30 + pistons + rods and hone $2k Hypothetical, if you can do all the work yourself bar the hone. 5hp for the haltech (if that) Vs 15% tq min for the RB30
  13. Shot peening and cryo seemed to help on a diff. Never tried WPC Some gearsets come peened and cryo from factory, i.e albins Also heat can make shit expand, a pinion heated up to 80 deg c gained 2mm in length which changes the contact patch, if your running on the brink of failure for 20+ mins in competition you want to look into additional capacity, additional fins or even pumps and coolers Wouldn't bother doing it to an aftermarket gearset, most are peened already if helical. valve springs are already peened, would not bother cryo Would not bother with cam either, snapping cams you have other issues I have cryo'd a crank before, but that was when it was new and still cheap.
  14. I basically come to a stop, gtr wont engage 1st otherwise, then you can run it through a few gears
  15. If your car has a cough you will know about it. Ground wires helped, I might get 1 every 2-4 tanks where before I would get a few every tank. I have a dejetro If you have a later model car, you probably have better earths and less dry solders which seems to be the culprit
  16. If you were running a GT30 internal, then switched to an external with optimal flow, power difference atw will be less then 10hp The internals are at 90 deg, which isn't great but will really only overboost on big engines with a small (relative) turbo/housing, the Xr6t is an example.
  17. all share the same CHRA/wheels except the kai. Housings differed like mentioned. RB26 housings also differed mainly on exh side, early had no splitter late had a splitter on the outlet that was flush to the outlet flange. Apart from that some minor gate differences No real power difference if your using a 1-1.5'' wastegate separator in a bellmouth
  18. deglaze them, drive up to 80-100 and brake hard on a quiet rd all the way to a stop. Do it 4-5 times in a row If that doesn't stop it, pull the pads and do what gtrpsi said, while out also use pads on some emry paper and take off a layer (sand for about 30-60 seconds each). Gife the rotors a quick scuff.
  19. 4.08 housing and gears only drop in your center, change rear cover if needed and go! $450
  20. 4.363 2 way $780 possibly tomei, maybe kaaz too (should have under 4k klm)
  21. 4.08 1/2 way interchangeable currently set to 1 way $850, I think its a kaaz (should have under 4k klm)
  22. Cleaned the shed of diffs from my old track car, they have not had a lot of use as they were spare diffs for various tracks, none have been used in the last 5 year since I just run what I brung. No drifting use, some road use as well, not abused on track. I would be classed as "smooth". I started track 15 years ago in a 400hp rx3 with a 2 way and tiny axles, I had to be gentile on the drivetrain as axles and LSD's were rare or super expensive and continued to drive that way. All come with S13 rear covers so reuse your own if 2 bolt type. All are 5 bolt flange. 4.08 1/2 way interchangeable currently set to 1 way $850, I think its a kaaz (should have under 4k klm) 4.363 2 way $780 possibly tomei, maybe kaaz too (should have under 4k klm) I only used factory oil + Castrol LSX lsd oil in all of my clutch LSD's 3.9 with viscous center $450 4.08 housing and gears only drop in your center, change rear cover if needed and go! $450 4.363 viscous $450 4.363 ratio only $260 shipped 4.363 crown wheel only (couldn't find the matching pinion $100 shipped) Sorry I cant be more specific on the make of the aftermarket diff's, the tag either broke off or the writing faded so can only go off what I see Pick up from Bankstown or Epping, currently can only ship just the 4.36 ratio as the others are too heavy to send via post.
