  2. My first session was in the dry which was lucky, and the next two were in the teaming rain. I had a little sideways moment in turn 4 when the confidence started to build which was a nice reminder that although wets are fantastic you shouldn't get too cocky! I would love to say I was out there tearing the track up, but to be honest it was embarrasingly slow and I could have punted the STi around there quicker But alas, it gave me some experience and a taste for the car that I just couldn't shake. Such an intense experience being so low to the ground, with a bike engine buzzing at 10,500rpm behind your head, water spraying up from the louvres in the arches and the car squirming in your hands at 200km/h on the straight. So cool. It wasn't all smooth sailing though. In my versy first session I had a light coming together with another car which put me into the gravel. They deemed it not my fault so no costs involved, but still shook me up as I've never had a track incident before and a bit of a confidence denter in my first session. The car only had a scratch, and the other car had a piece of bodywork damaged but all ok in the end. On the exact same lap, this occurred to one of the other drivers: All I saw when I was getting towed back to the pits was another SR3 with it's front end missing and I thought to myself "Holy shlt, was that caused by our coming together??!" I thought perhaps he had lost some aero when we touched and then had an off... Turned out to be another car but at the same time as my incident. Bit of a heart in mouth experience though! I've put a deposit on a car from Radical UK and am bringing it in next year through Radical Australia. It has a great spoec on it and is having all major components rebuilt or replaced prior to coming in, including a brand new FIA spec updated crash box which is great. Here is the car itself:
  3. It's full of atmo-gate goodness again - all is right with the world.
  4. Yep, I did EC but it was pissing down with rain so I didn't get the full experience of going flat through turn 1. I was also a little nervous punting someone elses 100k plus car around a wet track with no experience there! It will be great to go to a track that I have at least some familiarity with, and in my own car worth a fair bit less than that. Feel free to take it for a spin mate. You offered me one in yours, it's only fair to return the gesture ps I'd happily punt any of your cars! Except the truck, that you can keep.
  5. Beautiful car, well done on the purchase. It makes me want a 34 GT-R
  6. Hi All, Ok, my engine has now been sold and the chassis is now up for sale. As it's easier for me this way, I'm offering up the complete rolling shell with all parts minus the driveline for sale initially. For interested buyers, you can purchase the shell with any of the options listed below, or remove to make it cheaper. As it is though, it's ready for a gearbox and engine and you'll have a very quick track car on your hands, or very easily converted for drift applications. This car has been well looked after in the 7 years I've owned it. It was featured in SPEED magazine many years ago and look great. All work is top level, as are the components used. The brakes and suspension are worth more than 10k alone. Build blog here: http://project180sx.blogspot.com/ Basic details: 1991 180SX Complied, not rego'd currently but can be (not defected). 7. The Porsche club use Attwood once or twice a year, so it should definitely be possible.
  8. You're exactly right mate. I love the excitement of modifying the car, but the satisfaction quickly fades and them I'm onto the next thing. I also have a lack of time these days and would prefer something that is ready to go when I am rather than ferrying the car around to get alignments, tuning, modifications etc. Where I want the 180 to be is a costly, time consuming place and at the end of the day the Radical is quicker, provides more potential for racing down the track and parts for it are reasonable with quite long service lives due to the cars weight and lack of power/torque. They're also super exciting to drive! No doubt I still love the 180 but I just came to the conclusion that it was the wisest decision for me at the moment. Let's hope I was right! The one thing I cannot wait for is taking it around PI! Downforce and slicks around there will be absolutely insane
  9. Haha no wonder you were having issues! You're a ballsy man...
  10. I'm sure if I had of driven it again my love would have returened, but then I would have spent another 10k on it and it would be off the road again and I'd be dirty that I'd passed my chance to get a Radical. I fully expect to part mine out to get the money I want/need. As whole cars they're just not worth much! An R300 with S200 running gear would be all sorts of awesome. Funnily enough it was your video of the R300 at Spa that got me thinking about this lightweight race car business, and I just couldn't get it out of my mind. TD06 and 18x10.5's sounds the coots Ben Bring the rims in from overseas mate and get exactly what you want. You could even grab some Enkei's from the US for a good price brand new.
  11. Nice job Ant! That 260 has some serious mumbo, wowzers...
  12. That's some serious rear brake locking! What rear calipers are you running? Stoptechs on the front? Sounds nice
  13. It's the best! First Discovery Turbo and now Speed. Foxtel is redeeming itself. Nice coverage Duncan. Nice launch too!
  14. Already done Mike... engine has been sold Sure have Dave. Very hard decision but one that made more sense for me... I think. I've just had enough of it Troy, and don't feel the same love that I once did. It's still an awesome car, but the Radical is much more awesome-er and gives me more opportunities in the future. It's also easier to sell and move on if I so decide. I keep pumping money in and don't see any reward for it so financially it makes more sense for me. Would love to! Stack dash will be available if you want it mate? I'm trying to move as much as I can in one hit before stripping it down, but I can make an exception for you if you want it big sexy
  15. Anyone want a super dooper awesome 180SX track car minus an engine and gearbox??? http://nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=468699
  16. A used Mini Cup car would make a lot of sense I would think. They look like great fun to drive and reasonable to maintain. As for the vid, as much as I'm a massive Porka fan I don't know if I could go past that R500. Looks like an absolute hoot to drive! I think they sound awesome too...
  17. I'd love one of these:
  18. Sure you would Troy... you were doing 23.1's around Sandown years ago which takes more than a bit of oomph down the straights, it takes big knackers down Dandenong rd amongst other things!
  19. My car didn't have cooling issues. Low mount turbo is a good idea. Nice radiator, quality fluids and she should be fine mate
  20. Bloody expensive option mate! I'd just get an S2000 rather than swap the motor into an S14. I'd look at an E36 M3. They can be made to go very quickly, are cheap to buy (though not maintain I'm sure) and obviously handle well. I'd rather an E30/E46. but the 36's are very cheap. If not I'd look at a civic with an engine conversion or the like. Ultimate choice would be an Elise with a K20A What happened to the GT-R idea?
  21. As above, much safer option for them. You can log on to an XE account and do it via the net. No need to go to a bank. It's quite easy.
  22. Ahhh yep, I've seen that Zed do a hill climb before. Very, very quick! I was at Presidents day for the Porsche Club on Sunday as I wanted my lady friend to go for a ride in a club car and see what it was all about. Would have liked to come down though.
  23. Well done guys! Great effort first time out Russ What's the go with the 260Z? Very quick indeed!
