  1. Yeah, it's a farkin nice car! I'm tempted to buy it myself
  2. I had this done in the 180, and although it was pricey my shoulder now lines up with the door frame and I'm 6'4. Super low! Having said that, a good Bride super low rail will drop you significantly for around $300. The drop depends on the car; in the 180 it was great until I got the cage which obstructed my seating position. In the STi I sit even lower than the 180 with the modified floor (feels that way anyway). Ridiculously low at it's lowest setting, but three heights to choose from.
  3. Cheap as chips: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Co...ck-t327002.html
  4. Yeah mine is the same in that it's just a single bar, so in reality I would like more than that if doing Tarmac rally. It would be worth the enquiry as to whether something with a decent X brace could be made to be removeable.
  5. What rail is it? Yes the seat is chunky, but I'm telling you that 90% of the height difference will be in the choice of rail.
  6. I think you could buy a tarmac rally R33 for the same amount as they'd charge you I'd imagine! ...and R33 owners are the VL Turbo generation of today!
  7. The lower seating position is usually achieved by the rail rather than the actual seat itself. If you want to go low and don't want to go custom, I'd suggest a Bride Super Low rail teamed up with whichever seat you like (and that fits).
  8. For reference, I have a Brown Davis CAMS compliant half cage with removeable side intrusions, so it can be done. As far as whether removeable side intrusions are legal for Tarmac Rallies I'm not sure.
  9. You're not wrong Richard. There's a certain satisfaction to be had from building a car from stock exactly how you would like it, but that can be a satisfaction that is severley overshadowed by the outlandish costs required to get a car to these sorts of preperation levels. If I was smarter than I am that's what I would have done!
  10. Cage looks excellent mate. Fantastic welding and nice tagging
  11. That would be awesome, as would one of the myriad of GT3 cup cars for sale (for as little as 65k!), but upkeep would be monstrous.
  12. Looking really good guys, love the work you've done with the interior thus far.
  13. Boom, cost reality check! ps I'm pretty impressed with my guesstimation now
  14. Coolest car of the thread for me, and I don't even like Beetles... but I do like Porsches and it's such a cool hybrid.
  15. For sure it's a good whack of money, but guesstimates from what I see on that car: Clean 33 GT-R 20-25k Brakes - 10k Racepace engine - 15-25k with ancillaries TE37's 3k Cage 8-10k Seats 3k Harnesses 1k Suspension 5k Motec ECU and Dash 10k Ap Peddle box 3k Fire system 1.5k Lexan Windows 1.5-2k CF Bonnet 1k Terratrip $500 Total near on 100k - plus labour.
  16. Definitely mate, I think it would be an excellent buy around the 50k mark. All these temptations...
  17. Sure is Buy this: http://my105.com/classified.asp?id=16103
  18. Dan, just get a GT-R mate! You won;t be happy unless you do. At the end of the day if it was all about going mega quick we'd all have Super Karts! It's about enjoying what you drive unless competition is your number one focus, which doesn't seem to be the case.
  19. Up to a certain point, yes. More money and some nice driving = faster times But it all depends how far you want to take it. I think an unopened, stock turbo-ed S14 can be quicker than an equivalent GT-R, if you consider the same engine longevity and sensible power outputs to go along with it. So as we've all agreed on, the GT-R can be super quick, but you've gotta pay to play!
  20. You have to remember that power to weight is affecting straight line perfomance, the weight of the GT-R still counts against it in the corners, under brakes, in direction changes etc. As for power from the S14, I'd run at a safe 210-220rwkw's if I didn't want to open the engine. I used to run mine at around 200-210 or so on track for safety's sake and it held up perfectly. With E85 you could happily go to 230 or above for little expense. You'll need computer, injectors and pump for this power, and a turbo for anything above the 210 mark, depending on who's dyno you're on as well as the condition of the engine and turbo etc
  21. I test drove a C36 maybe 5 years ago, and I was quite impressed with it. Motor felt strong and decently rapid, though I wouldn;t call it fast. Build quality was nice, interior was comfy, rear leg room was quite good. I was turned off in the end by the high km's and prospect of resale value, and the fact it couldn't tow despite having over 400nm's of torque.
  22. Selling up Jack? Wow, that will be an awesome buy for someone. Must hold back ... want to buy it... 1:16 is just ridiculous. Flat out, plain ridiculous!
  23. Beetle is too cool mate, absolutley love it!
