  1. Super impressive! Who needs a GT-R??! Nice vid too Jontyz, makes me want to eat salsa and drive fast cars.
  2. Agreed! Despite all of this RWD love going on here I have to say that Jack's (JAGR33) 33 GT-R is still the nicest feeling car I've ever driven, so if you're happy with the budget then get what you want.
  3. That S14 was an absolute bargain. It upset me that the whole car was less than my engine rebuild.
  4. I'm a big GT-R fan, but for your goals I think you could achieve what you're after for a lower cost with an S14/R33 GTS-T etc I like my S13 because it's light, fast, handles well, parts are easy to source and cheap-ish and most of all because it's a heap of fun. I'd still buy a GT-R, but I'd probably buy a GT3 or a Radical first! They used to hold more of an allure for me a few years ago, but not so much anymore. As for the Targa 32, that was Ben (Marlin).
  5. Haha make it 10k for the bare engine and you have yourself a deal! Oh, and the slab too. I will be sure to drop it into the ocean so it never bothers anyone again Awesome car and awesome times, love it! So menacing...
  6. If it doesn't have 500hp at the crank then it's going in the bin
  7. Yeah, but nobody is talking about driving skill, it's more about the potential of the car. If you're a dud driver and don't improve then that's not a reflection on the car. The car can only be judged at it's full potential in my opinion as we are generally the weakest links! Of course how controllable and the sort of information the car feeds back to you can have a direct effect on your ability to control it and improve as a driver. Adam is a great driver but if you had good tuition there's no treason why you couldn't punt the car around that quickly. You can't say an F1 car is not quick because us mere mortals may not be able to drive it as it's meant to be driven! I know that my car will have more ability than I do, hell my STi has more ability than I do, but I can always improve and hopefully bring myself up to the level to maximise the potential of the car. It all takes time
  8. No, there was only a GT300 S chassis. Also, one of the quickest cars around Tsukuba is a privately owned S15, running 55's: This thread is rekindling my love for the S chassis.
  9. Let's not forget Adam's car either. It's already quicker than most GT-R's and will only get quicker. It's by no means a lightly modded car, but shows what potential there is with the 32 gts-t chassis.
  10. Nice thread Troy... though it needs more SR20. Loving the comments on your Sandown Crash video too. So much understeer and oversteer, way too powerful, you suck!
  11. Maybe have a chat with Ant (Ant97) as well, his car is fairly stock-ish and punches out some nice times, and reliability seems very good too (hope I don't jinx you mate!).
  12. Any more updates on this Daz?
  13. Wiser words have never been spoken!
  14. But regardless of whether that is the case or not (which could be hotly debated!!) as long as you're having fun, and you enjoy driving the car then who cares! There's always going to be someone faster than you so just enjoy. I've been contemplating selling up and moving to a Radical, but though it will be a hell of a lot quicker and infinitley more reliable I think, will it be more fun? I don't know... Fun is everything!
  15. If you loved your GT-R, then you should get another one. It's a fantastic car with excellent performance and super potential (and I have a big soft spot for 33 GT-R's for some reason). It just may mean if something goes wrong you're going to have to accept it may be costly, but such is life with all racecars.
  16. Well we know they can be comptetive with the GT-R's, though I think the GT-R ultimately has the more potential but at a higher cost and at an end of the scale which we're not discussing here. Not saying a relatively reasonably priced GT-R isn't bloody quick. Chris Thomson was doing 21's or 22's at Sandown with his stock turbo 33 GT-R, though he's a great driver, with stock Brembo's and the usual mods. Nothing special so excellent bang for buck there. If you really prefer a GT-R then go for it, but I would think it would be more costly to maintain in the long term. And I shouldn't be supporting the S chassis... it's not supporting me!
  17. I agree with this wholeheartedly. S14 is the pick of the bunch for a cost vs performance equation. Cheap, reliable, 5 speed instead of the S15 6, good engine setups stock, plenty of room for rubber and not too old. You'll be able to happily punch out 200rwkw's all day at the track and the thing will be basically stock. Add some suspension, good pads, rotors, oil cooler, tyres and you'll be laughing. No reason as to why you wouldn't be punching well under 1:40 at Winton. They also look good, have a heap of aftermarket support and are common enough to be easy to find.
  18. They seem fairly popular in Japan too so would be interesting to try out, price dependant.
  19. It's crazy how hard it is to get them!
  20. Let me know if you hear back on the Ventus TD Z221's, I've been trying to track them down but to no avail.
  21. Unlikley then mate. I'll probably have the engine back in 2 weeks I'd say, then another week or so to get the nerw turbo kit on and tune and hopefully a run at Sandown in case anything goes pear shaped!
