  1. All very valid points. It all seems like too much hard work unfortunately (or too much money...). It's a shame though as it would be ideal, but I guess that's why they cost what they do to buy one ready to go. Duncan: I've seen that system in a few advertisments on my105. Not sure how long they'd need to be for a car as low as a Radical though... Having said that, if John and Scott can get their car into the bus (as per a few pages back) then I'm sure it can be done. A lifting gate with extended ramps would be the easiest option, but cost may be an issue. The car is light so capacity shouldn't be an issue.
  2. That's all very interesting. Sounds like quite a neat system he's come up with, though one without the need for the second trailer would be more practical for me. I've actually just been offered a refrigerated truck which would be just about perfect if it had a a lifting gate on it. This thread has really got me thinking, it may just be the solution I'm looking for. Any ideas on some solutions for getting a car into it without a lifting gate, or the above idea?
  3. Nice job mate. Fark I love that track, can't wait to get out there again. How did you find the BMW day as opposed to a WRX day? Why did Dean only drive the one lap? Why is the sky blue? A 61.8 is very quick indeed! I think those times are for the regular track my man, a 54/55 around the figure 8 would be flyyyyyying!
  4. Haha love it Troy!! Very jealous too mate. I will live my holiday wishes vicariously through you mate, you know how to do it. I think g4y sx looks the goods... though I haven't tried it myself. Badoom-tish! Ahhhhhh... anyways, I dig it. What are the specs?
  5. I am super impressed by that! However, I'm as soft as it gets and I'm going to struggle getting my minimal clearance thing onto a 2ft high trailer, let alone a 4ft one...
  6. Haha I'd love to mate, but I'd never get it on!! An enclosed is definitely the way to go, but may have to limit myself to day trips until an enclosed trailer can be sorted. They're just so damn expensive for a good one! For big interstate stuff I can load it onto a proper Pantec but can't see the need for that for a while. I'll have a chat with my current Trailer builder to see what he can come up with as I'm really impressed with my current one, as is everyone who's used it. benm: Any links to the pop-top trailers? SImilar to Brian James trailers from the UK I imagine? http://www.brianjames.co.uk/range/range_details.aspx?id=2&rid=28
  7. Anyone used Race Ramps before? http://www.raceramps.com/ Could be a good solution to my loading woes.
  8. Life would be easier with a Pantec...
  9. Definitely, but unfortunately they're out of the budget at the moment! An encloseed Nevco would be great, but 20k I don't have 20k burning a hole in my back pocket. So I'll use an open trailer for now and avoid leaving it out overnight, and cover up the intake and cockpit when towing. How is your car coming along? Have you purchased an enclosed trailer for it?
  10. From me too - Good luck all!
  11. Have you got a link or contact details Snowy? My trailer is going to seriously struggle with the Radical and this could be an immediate solution.
  12. That they are, and some nice examples on pistonheads too. But I wanted one that was regg'd
  13. I was looking for an E30 M3 prior to purchasing the Radical. There was a gorgeous black one for sale ready to roll here in Melbourne a few years back, but not much around at the moment. Would make for a great Tarmac Rally car
  14. I haven't seen them, do you have a link? Can't seem to find them (must be going blind!). If that's the case then it's balls. Turn one is Eastern Creeks defining corner (along with corporate hill) in my books so I'm definitely glad I'll be doing a few days there over the coming months before the changes occur.
  15. They'll be running multiple layouts won't they? It's not like we'll lose the original with it's quick turn 1, just have some more variety. At least it's a bit of variety, but I agree would have been good to have more circuits available by keeping Oran Park.
  16. I think Walter will still go alright!! What a great sight it will be to see him out there in his old rally SC. Awesome.
  17. That's flat out cheating though, no creativity in that. That sort of cheating doesn't progress anyone or anything.
  18. I agree - hence why I sold up and bought the Radical instead. To be truly competetive a massive budget is needed, but I can definitely understand the appeal.
  19. I have no issue with bending of the rules; if you're team is more dedicated to finding loopholes and clever enough to execute it then more power to you! Porsche were kings of this in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Breaking the rules (such as the sand trick) is a different story.
  20. I don't think Time Attack has a place on TV when it comes to live coverage, but then that is never going to happen is it? For a 2 hour DVD though, I find it much more entertaining than most 2 hour door-to-door races unless it's a really quick/competetive category. If you don't have an interest in time attack then I don't think anyone here will convince you otherwise. Really the appeal of it for me is that I can build whatever monster car I desire, and have somewhere to go race it. If I want to be outright competitive I know I'd need to be spending hundreds of thousands, but if you have the means and enjoy it then why not? Even if you're not competitive then it is still fun to be a part of such a great event. If you only race to win then perhaps it's not the right way to go motor racing, but if you are just out to have some fun while not being told how to modify your car then good for you, at least you're participating. The reality is that if a lot of these people weren't competing in Time Attack then they wouldn't be door to door racing, they'd just be doing sprints or perhaps nothing at all. It's not taking people away from categories as much as it is introducing a whole new generation of car enthusiasts to motorsport.
  21. Go the Rotor Bro! From what Lee tells me your old GT-R has caused them a lot of pain over the past few years (through no fault of the cars). I bet he wishes you probably kept it too
  22. Be sure to put up some pics of the RX-7 when you get them Stu!
