  1. Yup, must be the salt water. I'm sure they'll find a way to protect the SSE Evo's EFR turbo from the salt water on the way over. Promises? I'm curious, what did Full Race promise you? None of the sales guys have any idea when the turbos will arrive, the only info they have is what they get from BorgWarner.... and BW are in a position where they are not sure when they will ship either. So... If any of the sales guys at Full Race "promised" you something please forward it to me at [email protected]. As far as the turbo's performance, I can assure you that we've seen much more than you've seen. Then again... ours didn't ship over the pond to get to us. -Brett
  2. Scott and I had a little behind the scenes chat. We cool...
  3. BorgWarner is well aware that these turbos will be subject to anti-lag and asked us to subject them to anti-lag in our testing. They held up fine, but Anti-lag thus far has not been questioned for warranty denial. Not to say it won't be, but has not been denied yet. The turbos are so new to the public, BorgWarner is doing all they can to work WITH the public vs. against them. So far, it's been great dealing with them on this new product. Full Race manifolds see more anti-lag in the states than you could ever imagine. Ever. And less than 1% come back.
  4. bigmike quoting himself. I love that! Mike, there had been a few failures at first with the small turbos and BorgWarner has been GREAT to work with. New turbos were sent out and the failures were sent to BW for inspection. A couple have been installer error (and they were able to prove it) and they still replaced the turbo because it's such a new product. (for now) Each time Full Race sells one now we have a conversation with the installer if we feel they may not have the knowledge needed to install the turbo. It's scary how many don't. I have never had luck getting warranty conversations started with the other companies like I have with BW. I don't expect failures to be commonplace, but I do know the boys at BW are VERY interested in where each of these turbos go and how they'll be used as they trickle out. They want all the data from end use they can get. We had quite a few in place before they launched the turbos, so they had a jump on some "real world" applications early on.
  5. Agreed, but there is a little "yes and no" to that statement. They both have 3 runners into 1, yes, but the runners have to be completely different. The single you have the challenge of marrying the correct runners and still making it fit. Strangely enough it's harder to do it on the twin manifolds because of the packaging constraints of fitting both turbos top mount, getting the down piping out of the engine bay, and clearing things like a/c units, power steering pumps, and motor mounts. Neither is easy, but they are very different. It would be nice if we had the latitude on the twins that we do on the single manifold, but we don't. Just ask our fabricators...
  6. I came here to help, and to talk about the BW turbos. I never even mentioned my affiliation with Full Race until it was brought up. I'm NOT on here as a sponsor, I was trying to inform the members here on what we have seen on our test cars. It wasn't until late in the thread that the conversation turned to Full Race manifolds. I wasn't looking to talk about them, and I am still not looking to talk about them. Your post was in gross error. You can take it personally all you wish, but it was all straight to the point. Not a dig at you personally, I'm sure you're a swell guy... just wrong. I never even mentioned the competition, not once actually. I'm sure they make a nice product. I was simply pointing out your inaccurate opinion.
  7. You simply have NO IDEA what you are talking about . EVERY SINGLE MANIFOLD made by Full Race Motorsports is HAND MADE. EVERY SINGLE ONE. What you are so ignorantly referring to is the fact that we robotically tig weld the RUNNERS. It's a better process, better penetration and more consistent from weld to weld, manifold to manifold. The pictures (as Lithium stated) are completely different manifolds, with completely different runners. Not only that, the fact that you think there is one thing in that picture that looks robotic is laughable. Everything in that pic was done by hand. The prep, the fitting, the welding, the cartridge rolling, porting, polishing. Look... I try to play nice, but your statement is so outlandish I can only assume, once again... YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. Now.... for your second statement. EVERY SINGLE ONE of those manifolds you see in pictures on shelves were handmade. Two years ago we were always 8-16 weeks to deliver. Geoff and I have done a LOT of changes to the crew, the shop layout, the equipment, and thusly have quadrupled our output to keep up with demand. Now when someone calls us, I have it on the shelf... you know, because I'm smart like that. When you don't know... ask.
  8. I think you may want to re-read that post, because if you wrote it correctly it means you really have NO IDEA what you're talking about. If, somehow you got the names confused.... you're forgiven, we all make mistakes.
  9. He's assuming that it's going to run out of steam up top the way it's breathing down low, but I've told him I think he's going to be pleasantly surprised. I know the SSE Evo was over 800whp with a smaller turbo, I have confidence he'll get there.
  10. Great news Richard. We knew you'd like the performance. We've seen in person that it's not hype, but ultimately want the guys in the trenches to show the rest of the community just how impressive these turbos are... What fitment issues on the 6258's? Those things just slap right in! ha ha! I hope you mean you're fitting the charge piping and dump tubes. That fitment is definitely not for the faint at heart, but we think your customer will think they were well worth the effort. (if you're having issues with the manifolds fitting I want to know about it) We plan to fit another pair on another car to make some O2 housings so the end user can use any aftermarket downpipe. We'll probably get to that after SEMA. Glad you like the turbo, and be sure the push those little turbos to their max...think you're gonna like them. And...thanks for the props, we do our best to make a product you'll never have to replace. -Brett
  11. I do know about the 9180 car, that's a bad ass. I expect to see BIG usable numbers out of that thing. The 6258 car may surprise you. We saw 405kw at 19psi here on our crappy 91octane fuel. If you're going to turn the boost up and run E85 and really "work" those turbos I wouldn't be surprised if you see closer to 500-520kw. Depending on boost levels obviously and provided you have enough pump/injector. The 6258 car here in the states ran out of pump, but had 2000cc injectors. It's running the ProEfi with a flex fuel sensor, and once there is more pump installed he'll hit the dyno again with E85 and see what she'll do. (and when it's not 110º outside)
  12. Ha ha! Nah...I'm like the crazy uncle you keep away from the rest of the world. I just usually stay behind the scenes on most transactions, but I've been involved with a lot of the BW testing and talk with BrockStar regularly, I've been particularly impressed with the twin 62/58's thus far. (mainly because we really haven't had many of the big framed turbos) We don't have that many RB's here in the states and the twin set up we've tested out here has been very promising. (Very linear, plenty of power down low, no shuffling, quick shift recovery, etc) What size injectors and how much fuel pump do you have going to these things? And what kind of fuel? I have.
  13. No worries mate! I'm Brett, Jon's one of my salesmen (and a good one at that).
  14. I think those iPhone pics look AWESOME. Ha ha! Glad you like the way it looks, I think you'll be very happy with results. And... Thanks, yes Jon showed me the pics of the 9180, it looks right at home in your engine bay!
  15. http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=958224 (read at your own discretion, I don't know any of the parties involved)
  16. No, but that's because I enjoy a little troubleshooting under the hood. Phones and computers? I just want that shit to work.
  17. Also....one of my sales guys found a post about a 2jz with an 8374 with great results, I'm just trying to verify it's validity before linking up.
  18. Using Mac's for over 15 years too, NO WAY I'd ever switch. iPhone simply works, every time.
  19. Since they are not a distributor your assumption is most probably spot on.
  20. There are about 7 or 8 distributors getting them at this point worldwide. The smaller frames have been available, but the larger framed turbos have been a crapshoot for all of us at this point. BW has been very open about who is getting what, and there just ins't anything out there yet. As soon as there are turbos available they send a few to each distributor (as stated earlier) and each distributor sends them out to the consumer. HOWEVER there are people stating they have them (ebay and other venues), collecting money and then scrambling to get some. Really a bad business practice. So as a general rule if you already have an order with a distributor it's not going to help ordering from another one. I would gladly tell you otherwise too, it's not like we're going to lose business and don't have people lined up waiting... It's just a tough spot to be in right now with these turbos.
  21. We've seen good results with the twin turbo set up, but haven't had a chance to really test the 8374 on the RB26 like we wanted (customer had a boost leak in dyno graph posted earlier). Now it's just too hot here to dyno it. We had a 118º day (48ºC) just the other day.... There is a twin kit now in AU as well as a 9180. So... we should see results soon!
  22. I'm am with Full Race, and thanks. I'm in direct contact with the BorgWarner EFR specific team on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis. It's been a very rough road. The reason you'll see certain people getting them right now is simple, those first 100 that FINALLY made it thru production are sneaking out. 100 turbo frames for the world is not an easy task to delegate. They have to get them to the distributors that ordered them first, then those distributors have to get them to the individuals that ordered them first. We have a talk with each person we ship them to as well before we ship them. We want to make sure they still want it, are ready for it, and can post results so the rest of the community is not left in the dark any longer than needed. We've even had one customer tell us he's not going to be ready for his for another few months, so to please find someone that's ready for it so they can post up results...good stuff. It's a tough and rigorous process, but we want everybody to see the results so they can make educated decisions as to whether they want to order (or wait for) these turbos. We want to make it fair for everybody involved. So does BorgWarner.
  23. The only legal issue was Garret getting their hand slapped, but it had nothing to do with the EFR's delivery. I like how you're so sure it couldn't be a foundry issue...because you couldn't be further from the truth. I can't divulge everything, but I'll break it down for you and the rest of the readers in this thread. IT WAS A FOUNDRY PROBLEM. The first 250-300 housings turned into about 150 housings that actually passed BW's quality control. Those then went to machining and those 150 turned into 100pcs after a second quality control check in machining. Simple as that. When you remove ALL OF YOUR TOOLING from one foundry to another and start over because the first foundry was unable to replicate what they had made in the original prototype runs in bulk... you have a HUGE delay. None of this in conjecture, I know.
  24. BorgWarner is working as feverishly as possible to get them out the door. A foundry mishap really put them behind the 8-ball on this one (you blokes ever use that term?). The second foundry should have the first batch out in the next few weeks, hang in there.
