Prestige Motorsport do the same as well. I can vouch for Geoff over here, imported my 370GT with his help earlier this year and couldn't be happier. He answered all 500 of my qustions without blinking and his guy in Japan found me an immaculate car. Keep in mind that depending on what you buy, it may be cheaper to have the car complianced over east and pay for extra shipping, thats what I ended up doing. One piece of advice, get something that is completely stock. Any mods will need to be removed for compliance and replaced with stock parts which could obviously cost a fortune. Also Geoff recommends a Forex Trader to transfer the money to Japan, which ensures that you dont get raped by any banks. Google Prestige Motorsport, he has ballpark prices for all the major models (using actual sales prices) as we as other information and spreadsheets which will explain the whole process in detail. Good luck to you, if you have the cash and the patience, importing is the way to go. I ended up with a $45-50,000 car for under $40,000, on the road. :-) P.S You will find answers to both of your questions on his website. Compliance costs will vary wildly based on the model of car and who does it. As an example, there are guys on here that paid over $5,000 for their 370GT compliance in NSW/Vic, I was quoted $5-6 by some places here in Perth but ended up having it done in Brisvegas for just over $3,000. $1,000 extra shipping to Perth, but the money saved paid for the brand new $1350 tyres and Geoffs fee. Time to get the car in your garage will depend completely on when the car can get on a boat from Japan and how long the workshop and Government take for compliance. Mine waited only a few days in Japan but a guy here in Perth that bought one 2 weeks earlier had his car on the same boat as mine. At the VERY best, it will take a month, but expect it to take 2 or more. Gives you time to start thinking about all of the mods that you are going to set your money on fire with once it arrives.

Mechanic Or Spray Painter Apprenticeship
Alkatraz replied to tanto's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Do a heavy diesel fitter apprenticeship, HV sparky apprenticeship or boilermaker apprenticeship, then go and earn $150,000 per year in the mines. I have worked with all of these guys over the years and they all agree that for the money, they are not hard jobs. Auto sparky working on heavy equipment is another good one. -
Quick question, are you allowed to modify your car at all when on your P's???

Its not just cars that are expensive here. I am looking at buying a couple of 4x2 2 storey houses in a very nice area just outside Houston for around $250,000 - $300,000. You can buy a 7 bed 6 bath in the same area, backing onto a private golf course for $800,000. What do you get in Aus for that money? I agree that it would be tricky to live on $30,000 per year, but thats only because we are not generally willing to lower our standard of living. I could get anyone with half a brain that is willing to actually work a $40,000 job over there tomorrow. I was in Houston for two weeks, ate out for every meal and barely had an expense report to fill out at all. Under $20 for dinner and two pints at Hooters, served by a sexy little thing that shakes her tits at you to show how everything is bigger is Texas, show me where you get that in Aus? I came back with a suitcase full of new clothes, calvin klein jeans $60, armani tshirts $20 etc. I think that the smallest car that I saw when I was there was a G37, everyone drives massive trucks that cost 50c.

What Drivers On Our Roads Are Doing To Skylines.
Alkatraz replied to S3RK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I want to know who the insurance company representing the other driver is then! I will sign up with them today, if they are willing to pay out and accept responsibilty for both vehicles before the 'at fault' driver has even been identified. So what you are saying is, that once it comes out that the OP is actually the one at fault in the accident, the insurance companies will then be sueing him to reclaim their costs? Does the insurance company that you work for generally pay out large sums of money before establishing that they are contractually required to do so? I am pretty sure that a negligent driving charge would normally be enough for the insurance companies to challange payment. What if the police report, that they have not yet seen, states that the OP was drunk out of his mind, no drivers licence, only 3 wheels on the car and travelling at 490kph through the roundabout??? -

Alkatraz replied to S3RK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
If the insurance company did not charge you an excess then, in their eyes, the other driver was at fault. I would not be stressing about this too much. It must simply be an error. Oh wait, did Julia Gillard recently announce a "getting t-boned in a round-a-bout tax"??? Look at the fine again, maybe thats what this is, or Officer Plod didnt quite make his ticket quota last month and thaught he would give this a try. -

Well for them to send you a fine after being t-boned in a roundabout by someone who was supposed to give way to you seems rediculous. This indicates to me that either you have not been honest in what you have told us here or there has been a mistake. If the other car was already in the roundabout before you entered, then you are stupid and it was your fault. If you were approaching the roundabout speeding (and they can prove it), then it is your fault. If you were driving normally, entered the roundabout as normal, the other car did not give way and crashed into the side of you, his fault and you should argue it. If this situation was as simple as it looks on your drawing and on the location of the damage on your car, then it would be cut and dry, other car at fault. Thats why I think there is more to this than you are letting on. -
What Are These Switches?

So is that McDonalds or Hungry Jacks that you have all over the place??? No wait....its Peri Peri Salt right? -
Look at it this way, if it cost $35 to increase the HP so easily, why didn't Nissan do it? Just getting your car tuned properly on a dyno after making any sort engine mod is going to cost several $100 or more. Modding a car correctly is EXPENSIVE! If you find anything that you want, that doesn't make you think "hmmmmm........do I need to eat this month?", then it is probably a cheap piece of crap that will kill your car eventually. When it comes to modding your car, "you get what you pay for" is correct in about 99% of situations.

Hey guys, http://www.customgadz.com/store/product.php?id_product=16 I have sent a few emails back and forth with the guys who will be releasing the above very soon (The IPhone version is already available) and it looks like it may have potential. Still waiting to see a diagram of how it all wires up, but they are still working on that. Basically from what I understand, this unit has the capability of controlling your phone via Bluetooth and should only require you to able to output the video from your phone onto the existing OEM touch screen (which you can do via the AUX inputs in the centre console, depending on what phone you have). They supply a switch that is installed on the 4-wire output from the touch screen and will switch the touch screen control back and forth between the OEM system and the phone. From the responses that I have been getting, it seems as though this 'should' be able to work but I will probably order one, install it and then let anyone who is interested know. I don't know how interesting this will necessarily be for everyone but my Samsung Galaxy S2 comes with a pretty damn cool Sat Nav App (is actually better than my 1 year old Garmin Nuvi) which would be nice to have on the bigger screen, as well as the ability to do Google searches, watch youtube videos, basically anything that you can do on your phone, would be pretty useful. For my Samsung S2 I will need an HDMI to Composite converter though which will cost an extra $70 - $150 depending on the brand. Does anyone see any OBVIOUS issues with this being able to work on the V36 system? If so let me know and I will ask more questions or else I will get it soon and give it a go. Al

Best R33 Gtr On Carsales In Melbourne?

Jessica Alba is my fb friend and my other fb friends, Brad Pitt and Miranda Kerr have met her too. So basically I have slept with Jessica Alba and my friend, that just spent $8,000,000 'fully' converting his Hyundai into a Ferrari F40, was the one who hooked us up. -

Alkatraz replied to S3RK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
S3RK, you should be fine. I think the way that you wrote the first post was a little confusing. If it happened the way you drew the picture, then he should have given way, didnt, crashed into the side of you. His fault, end of story. As long as you were not approaching the roundabout at more than the speed limit, which he would have a hard time proving anyway I guess, then there is no explanation that the other driver can give as to why it is your fault. -
Sorry, that last one posted twice.

Does it look like a circuit car????? My point EXACTLY! Horses for courses. Which is why I was saying that your first comment about waiting for R35 owners to come and say that their car is faster for some gay reason was silly. You are the one who made the comparison, not me. That Supra is probably faster in a straight line than a hell of a lot of supercars, would it beat them around a track? No chance in hell! Is it awesome? F'ing Oath! This is the car that Batman would trade the Batmobile for!!! Or just sell Robin's ass on a street corner and keep both......

Actually, if it was a 10 lap race around the Nurburgring, I would put my money on the R35 any day of the week. Im not saying that this thing doesnt look brilliant (the rediculous turbo's sticking out the front make me happy in my pants), but seriously, you might as well be saying that this Supra is quicker than an F1 car simply because it has more HP.
