What colour is the car? I thought it was black but....... Either I'm seeing things or it has a maroon glow in those photos???
-
Well to be fair to the dealer, it probably does have a 2.5L VQ35 350z motor, and GT-R badges on the back. After the car was crashed and written off in Japan, they imported it, bogged it up, painted it, found a blown motor somewhere and stuck it in. When someone comes to buy it they will say "damn, hasnt got any fuel in it so you can't go for a test drive, but dont worry shes all good and if you buy it I will even fill it up with fuel for you....if you pay the sticker price" <----- actually i think one of the ad's i listed actually said that last part in the description.....sounds like good deal to me.

Ok, now I did quite a lot of research before buying my 370gt SP from Japan so I think that I am correct with the points I make below but I am also completely happy to be proven wrong. It would actually make my day to be proven wrong and find out that the dealers associated with the cars below are not all SCUM SUCKING, PIECE OF S&%T, DODGY ASS, SELL THEIR OWN GRANDMA TO THE STREETS FOR $5 ASSHOLES!!! If I am indeed correct though, is it even legal for car dealerships to be advertising cars incorrectly, ie. saying a car is a top of the range model when it isnt?? Imagine a dealership advertising a Holden Commodore VE SSV as an HSV GTS......somehow I think that if you mentioned that to the ACCC, they would do something about it. I understand that in some cases you can argue, buyer beware, if your dumb enough to buy it, thats your problem, but then why should someone be arrested when they go back to the dealership and drive the car straight up the salesmans ass...... Take the examples given below..... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2008-Nissan-Skyline-V36-370GT-Premium-Black-5sp-/140563290907?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item20ba399b1b Listed as a Premium model but with cloth seats??? I'm pretty sure Premium meant leather which would make this the regular, stand, povo pack 370gt. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2008-Nissan-Skyline-370GTS-Black-/170590489673?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item27b7fc4c49 I hope that the S after 370GT is a typo because this is an auto with no paddle shift which again (and i am happy to stand corrected) would make it a standard 370gt. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2008-Nissan-Skyline-370GTS-Grey-/160557753431?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item2561fce457 Two different dealers who both happened to accidently press S after typing GT? hmmmmm...........same as previous example. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2008-Nissan-Skyline-SP-V36-Silver-M-Coupe-/280565441338?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item415300e33a Ok so this one is @ Edward Lee's who we all know is dodgy as F%&K. So its an SP without full leather??? Did the Japanese guy who ordered it say "Me want SP, but no likey leather, so charge me SP price but give me S model" (no offence to any Japanese people here) Please someone tell me that I have gotten it all wrong and that you can order an SP without full leather or an S with the standard auto box and no paddles or 6 speed manual. I have looked at dozens of Auction sheets and never saw an SP without leather or an S with a standard auto........If not, can someone on that side of the country please get in touch with the ACCC and go down and have a chat with the dealers. How many people do you think get ripped off by these guys and never know about it. Send comments and suggestions to "Al's wild rant for the day"...PO Box 666, Dodgy Dealers Piss Me Off And Must Die Street, Perth, WA, 6000

Compliance, How Long?
Alkatraz replied to ishan's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Mine took literally 2 days to comply, including installing the FM Expander, and then they waited about 10days for the compliance plate to arrive. I was happy until I found out today that the next boat from Brisbane to Perth is on the 9th of July. Quick unrelated question (please dont get mad), I am guessing that the car will have only been driven a very small amount in the months leading up to arriving in Perth, so would people suggest just filling it up with a tank of BP Ultimate or having it serviced?? When I bought my Series 8 RX7 the dealer said that it still had Japanese fuel in it, which he said is much higher quality than Australian Fuel, so I should fill it up with 98 octane straight away. I am guessing/hoping that the Compliance Workshop would have changed the oils and other fluids but this is something that I havent really thought about until now. I actually thought that I was just paying a couple of thousand $$$ to have a plate bolted to the engine bay....can anyone tell me if they should be doing what you could almost call a "minor service" on it? Cheers Al -
Interesting News Article
Alkatraz replied to PSI-FED's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I hope mine copped a little dose of radiation before it left Japan a month ago. With a little luck it might slowly mutate and sprout twin turbos and two extra exhausts within a few years.......or just go green like the hulk!? -
The fact that you want to sell something, but are too lazy to fill out a single, two minute form is quite sad. Then when people try to help you out by asking you to move it to the correct section you get all defensive. All I can say is lol. Good luck with the sale btw, you're gonna need it now.

Will G35 Door Glass/window Fit V35?

Just make sure that if it will work, you order the "drivers side window" or you will be in for a surprise. -

Wogboy, The garmin unit looks like a good option. Its a shame that the sat nav wouldn't work through the stock touch screen, but I guess you can mount the controller somewhere and it would almost be as good. Apart from that, I think that I am resind to the fact that unless I can find a written off infiniti g37 and strip out the dash, the factory sat nav will never be working. Hopefully they do start selling them here next year, although, would the new model have a completely different setup??? Haxorz, Somehow I get the feeling that you will get a hell of a lot more than $57,000 worth of enjoyment out of the car over the next few years. You can never pay too much for the smile on your face everytime you drive!!! -
Grounding Kit & Shift Kit
Alkatraz replied to dodes47's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Funnily enough if you Google HKS Grounding Wire Kit you will find there are 100's of different places (online stores, real stores etc) all with different photos of the kit (different angles, different colours etc) with the wrong spelling. Makes you wonder if HKS just stuffed up and shipped 10,000 units with a mistake on the English packaging..........or someone in China got away with ripping off a HELL of a lot of people. -

Has Anyone Changed The Front Bar On Their V36?
Alkatraz replied to Alkatraz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I do like the look of the black, especially with black rims. Nothing better than looking like your about to do a driveby...... I actually had a quick look last night and found a few places that make them and DAMN are they cheap! Probably cost more in shipping than to buy them but I didnt see anything that jumped out at me. The most interesting was the 2011 IBL Infiniti body kit. That looks pretty mean and comes already painted but I would need to get fog lights etc made up......price suddenly shoots up. Am I correct in assuming that basically anything that bolts straight onto a G37 will bolt straight onto a 370GT or are there actually quite a few differences??? (Apart from any engine/transmission stuff where the LHD/RHD would be an issue) I couldnt find much out of Japan, not that I looked THAT hard. Actually, now that I think about it, I will be in Germany next month and should probably pop into an Infiniti Dealer and see what they say. -

I just looked back at the compliance invoice and realised that I lied, its actually $2400, thats excluding tyres too. Could even be worth anyone in Sydney having it shipped to Brisbane and then driving it down......nothing like a long first drive to make you fall in love with the car.......not sure how that would work with rego though.....? -

Compliance in Perth would have been $5-6,000, only one place here that does it. So it is worth the extra shipping costs easily. Judging by the comments I am starting to think that maybe I was extremely lucky, but saying that, the week before I got mine another guy in Perth got one for just a little bit less than mine, but it was a 4.5 grade. I saw the photos and all of the marks were EXTREMELY minor so that one would have been a good deal too. I cant remember what the kms where on that though. You may also find that the price of the 08's start dropping later in the year too. As soon as the SHAKEN on the 09's start getting close to expiring, anyone holding an 08 will need to drop price. Especially seeing as the 09 has a few improvements. Or you may find that the 09's just come on the market for more, but i have seen a base model 09 with really low kms go for under 3million already. -

Of course not Mike. I would never dream of taking money out of the pocket of a poor, struggling insurance company. Seriously though, I am assuming that the 55,000 is what their market value is.....I will look at it again when I get home but on the quote I'm pretty sure it actually said agreed value $55,000..... I don't know why they would ask for the purchase price and them say 55 anyway. Maybe trying to sucker people in lol..... -
I saw a Nissan Maxima this morning and it occured to me that the standard front bar on the V36 looks waaaaay to similar for my liking. Has anyone looked seriously into replacing it and knows what options we have over here? I will look into what they do to the G37 in the states but would appreciate anyones local knowledge. Cost, brands, quality etc etc

Probably gives someone a job and vehicle identity check sounds better than 'bend over and take it tax' I'm over west but I assume they charge you for this........ -

I did an insurance quote with Just Car last night and it placed an agreed value of $55,000, even though I put in Purchase Price of 40 something.........are they inviting fraud or what??? All of a sudden pushing it off a cliff could seem like a good idea......??? Is this correct or have Just Car made a mistake somehow....? -

I paid 2.3million FOB, with an exchange rate of 87.3, that's 10% right there. Compliance is now only $2200. Getting a black manual is always going to cost more, especially with such low kms. 2.5million for an almost brand new car a couple of years ago is f'ing awsome. If the AUD had been as strong then as it is now and the compliance cheaper like now, then yours wouldn't have been that much more, but it was basically a brand new car. Again I just don't see how anything else in Aussie even comes close for the $$$. If you go to www.exportcar.jp/en you can do a search on pretty much anything and see what they sold for or were passed in for. The majority don't sell, maybe 1 in 5 or so, and if they don't get past 2million they definitly don't sell (unless they're f'd). Many do seem to still sell for 2.7, 2.8 million and I have seen some for over 3 but if you are patient, set your budget and stick to it, then you can still grab a bargain. If mine arrives and is only running on 5 cylinders, it might be a different story, but I doubt it.......fingers crossed....... -

Yeah i did get a pretty damn good deal, but i have seen some others go for not much more as well. Geoff @ Prestige Motorsport was pretty suprised, I had agreed to go at least 200,000-300,000 yen more. When he called and said "its yours", i asked "how much?" and then almost chocked when he told me. It was directly after the earthquake and the AUD was extremely strong, but still only a little better than now. I think that if you are patient enough you can get a bargain as I see so many go unsold week after week after week. Eventually these people have to accept a lower bid or they will be stuck with the car which is costing them money.....I was lucky though, definitely, I didnt need to be patient, it was actually the first car that I bid on, not actually expecting to get it -

Thats not true Skyline37. Mine is still on the way but all up, to be on road it will be costing me just over $40,000. That includes rego, insurance, $1350 tyres (didnt go for crappy ones), extra shipping and handling because the compliance is in Brisbane and I'm in perth and the radio expander. Granted, if you want a black one with a sunroof then you will be looking at around $5,000 more and if your 18 with a shit driving record then you wont get insurance cheap either. Mines an SP, auction grade 5A, with >25,000km. So it is possible to get them for well under $50,000 and when I compare that to a couple of 2002-2003 BMW 330ci 's that I took for a drive, for around $40-45,000 plus rego, insurance etc, there is no comparison. The BMW will have an awesome suspension setup and possibly hold its value longer but will have waaaaaaaaay higher km's and cost a fortune to service and repair. Some people may not like this but I have no problem with Australian cars either and would happily have a Clubsport or GTS but I dont want to be the 1000000000000000th one on the road and prefer to have something unique. If I still lived in Germany then I would LOVE to import a big Aussie V8 because everyone else on the Autobahns would be thinking WTF IS THAT??!!??!! But for the money, in Australia, I dont think there is much else that can compare to the 370gt.......hence I bought one........ -

+1 For the SP Model. They come with pretty much everything, only thing that is still an option is Cruise Control (wish I had realised this before buying) Mine is currently somewhere between Brisbane Port and the compliance workshop so I cant really give any comments with hands on experience but I have test driven a couple of the 4 doors that they have down at FABCAR in Perth and they feel like a serious luxury car, hence the reason I bought one. If you have a look for my post from around 1 month ago in the Newbies section you can see a picture of the auction sheet straight from Japan and if you shoot me a PM I can give you a break down of the import costs to get it on the road. Now seems to be an awesome time to import one, people seem to be offloading them a lot cheaper and the AUD/JPY exchange rate is also pretty good. The 2007's and 2008's are the best buy as they are now out of their original Rego period, "Shaken" (I wont go into this, google it), so people are wanting to get rid of them. The 2009's will still attract a significant premium, about $1,000,000yen from what I have seen. Black is the most popular colour and also ups the price, as does the sunroof, if you are really desperate for a black/sunroof model, be prepared to pay a heap extra. I have seen black 2008's with sunroof, going for around the same price as 2009 models in a basic colour. If you like the tan leather and woodgrain, they seem to be a little cheaper, not sure why as they are more limited. I personally dont like tan and woodgrain at all but each to their own I guess. I have looked into the SatNav and it is possible but it will cost a fortune, hit up Chris Rodgers on here and he can apparently do it for you. He will warn you up front that it costs thousands though. As I said, PM me if you want more info. -
