RPM Performance Centre private AIR drag day - Sat' 31st May
GTR King replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
SR910, heres a small list of drag tyres to choose from, Hoosier r reasonably good tyres, tho i would recomend MT "Mickey Thompson" slicks or Goodyear slicks. Also M@H DOT street slicks are pretty good as well. thats what i used to run on my car. Helped me to achive a 1.7 60ft and well worth the money. But be carefull as the bite in slicks can easly break the weakest drive line components, eg clutch , drive shafts etc. Just thought ide say that as nothing worse than breaking your car and having no way of getting it home. Also if u dont have big HP the car will prob bog big time with slicks. -
RPM Performance Centre private AIR drag day - Sat' 31st May

Rob , i dont think u have any chance of taking a passenger. I got to take a passenger on the day for 3 rides , but this was because it was "Fan Apreciation Day" and they had a raffle for a ride in 1 of 3 cars down the track. They supplied full fireproof suits, helmets etc. So as for saftey sake i dont think it will happen again. Was good fun, even got like 5-8 ppl wanting my autograph . heheh . Drags is a funny place. -

On ya Johno ! That getting better. Good work to the Engine tuners etc. Good results there :] What were the 60 fts? MPH etc. List the time it run compared to its last best outing? Ide be interested. Man thats some cranking top speed. Did u even get into top gear? or is the gearing resonable? Go the 9.5 :] Break out the speed slide rule calculator and see if she will do 180mph. Ha ha Maybe the box could do with shorter gears, diffe gears etc, although more $$$ , gota be happy with that tho. -
Miss_Nismo , ROFL at your Sig. "My other ride is your boyfriend" AHAHHA thats a great one, got me laughing Its all about Road Saftey is what the Gov would say, just cause the farged up with there foreign debt doesnt mean they revinue raise the money to pay for farg ups. Skyline club to the Foreign Debt rescue. I hate the Gov, Vote me for Prime minister and recieve Free N0S kit and a set of steak knifes :]

Whatsisname , ive heard of brand new trucks straight off the production lines have been inspected and found to have 140 odd defects. They can get u for an over full ashtray if they want. BTW Erica doing the suspension bushed and tie rod ends etc makes it a safer car and nicer ricer to drive. Go the Nolathane.

haha My sister works there, maybe u can buy your way out. hehe 1 reason why i have an OLD SCHOOL car, pre emmisions etc. cause they cant do shit. My compliance plate has like 3 ADR`s and that suits me fine. Sorta glad i dont have a Skyline for that reason, cop magnets, regency magnets, and if they wanna be picky u will never get your car on the road again, "Hint" So DONT smart mouth any one who works there. Also u better win the lottery so u can pay to fix all the defects. Either way get the work done thats needed to pass inspection and give me a ring , msg, im sure i can get my sister to bump a car or put u in if some one else cancels. The Joys of knowing ppl :] "When the green flag drops , the bulsh1t stops"

ROFL @ that cruise. "Motley Cruiz3" Was a pretty good BL@T in the "Rocket Ship" as usual, although methinks Andy should get outa the bushes or strap on another 2 cylinders hehe. The highlight of the night was some coaching by Matt with regards to Front wheel drifting, gee thats a new experience :] Cool calm and collective, didnt even have to pull over to Check the jocks out. Love the sound of matts car inside gives u a sence of how the motors working, i like it :] Andrew save letting the smoke outa the tyres till im there. Think a daytime cruise with bbq and stopover is deffinatly the go. Seya`s in the Soup Brad

GTR King replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
not until im back at work as i can afford it. I need to buy some tyres for it is the main reason and i dont wanna bang the wall. Its bad enough even with good race tyres. Sooner or later i will tho :] -
AIR Street Meet 5th April - who's running?

Hes spot on about the standard weight flywheel. Most drag racing ppl would tell u the same. Lightened flywheels r for street and mallala. As he said the revs r up from the word go and u wouldnt drop more than 2000rpm between gears so it makes sense. btw make sure u get flywheel balanced with the new clutch and mark its position. Otherwise u might get some bad vibrations :[ -
i got a BBQ but im not cooking either and im not taking my car either, so if some ones keen to take the BBQ and me ill come along. I have everything to cook with including gas. Up to u guys and girls but.

AIR Street Meet 5th April - who's running?
GTR King replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
Well correct me if im wrong but Lightened flywheels r mainly for Fast reving high HP cars. Rotarys use this as they have no low end grunt to get revs up quick. Most propper cars for drags r auto to start with and have heavy Torque convertors with high stall to get the revs up. Lots of these have trans brakes etc. On a road car with smaller power figures the weight and momentum of the fly wheel carries it thru its dead strokes and gives it Kinetic energy that helps engine to overcome low speed engine revs. If u r gonna rev the ring outa it it may work ok but then u will have problems with wheelspin and breakages. Once the car is on boost the extra weight will help it get off the line quicker and wont affect the amount it picks up revs. Personaly i would say keep the standard weight flywheel unless u have 5.11 gears and 32 - 15 slicks. Although a quality clutch would be advised its still all about weight. Think of it this way, if u fired a gun with a bullet made of feathers it wouldnt hold its kinetic enegy for long. To be honest u would be better off buying better tyres and other things first. Personaly i would get a standard weight chrome molly flywheel and a quality clutch. If u realy wanna shave 10nths off your ET buy some better ratio diff gears so u r using all your ratios but will sacrifice top end on the open road. Hey how often do u sit on 200+kmh anyway? So my advice is diff gears and tyres and that should prob shave at least half a second if not more. Tyres r the most important things for drag racing. Even putting skinnier tyres on the front like front runners might be worth 2 tenths. U would be suprised the rolling resistance on that sticky track. I could talk all night but that should open your eyes to a few new concepts. I doubt a lightened flywheel would do much at all to be honest as u r not increasing horsepower or torque by doing that. There r gains to be made other places before u go for the flywheel. Diff gears will make your car rev faster and therefore getting on boost faster and using all available ratios. The biggest killer in any car for drags is weight so if u wanna go fast start trimming bolt heads and pulling unwanted stuff out of the car. Hope my advice enlightened u. Have fun Brad
