  2. I don't intend to drop it, but it's more a case of it I miss a power clean or can't lower the last deadlift properly or something
  3. Ok, ordered the bar. The other thing I need to sort out is the rubber flooring for where I will be doing my lifting. I will be doing deadlifts, power cleans, front squats and maybe some snatches etc once I get my technique down. I was thinking about just getting 1 or 2 of those 15mm commercial gym floor rubber tiles that are 1m x 1m. Then cut them in half and have two 50cm x 1m long strips about 1.1m apart. Do you guys think the 15mm rubber tile over a concrete slab will be thick enough for dropping bumper plates onto from shoulder height? Or should I put one ontop of the other and have it 30mm thick on each side? I would like to keep the bumper plates and my bar in good condition. Then I'll just get some ply wood that is 30mm thick and put it down on the concrete slab in between the tiles and have my own portable platform of sorts. I would go all out and build a proper lifting platform, but I need something that can be broken down easily and moved/stored without takin up a lot of space.
  4. If you are getting them for $150 that's not too bad. I can't remember the last time I even wore runners though, I never work out in them...
  5. Asics are drastically over priced
  6. I swear half the people in the world are on smack...
  7. I actually like behind the neck press because it seems like it focuses on the anterior delts a bit more.
  8. Whenever I do behind the neck presses, I always find the rear of my shoulders is heaps tender for a few days. Doesn't hurt at all when im doing it, But it doesnt feel like a muscular sore/doms type sore either. Not sure if it's because I don't do them that much so My body is just not used to working like that, or if it stresses my joint capsule when in the lower region of each rep. I prefer dumbells just because of the freedom of movement and then just use a barbell to change it up occasionally.
  9. For a sec I thought ttt was serious about the deca and stanazol. Could definently put on some mass with those haha!
  10. All i know is whenever I have been to the cit gym, there's a lot of student lookin types in there not doing a whole lot and it's annoying because they use all the lockers. I'm sure it's a decent course though.
  11. I'm guessing you didn't get a reference then Troy?
  12. I think if you are going to be a pt, find a niche market and gear your business towards catering for them. Exactly what that niche is will need to be researched obviously, but you need something that is going to set you apart from the masses. I would also say it might be a good idea to have a different (flexible) part time job that will garuntee you x amount of $$$ each week, at least while you are starting up your own business. Something easy and mindless which you can forget about as soon as you leave. So at least you will have some money to pay bills etc even when things are slow.
  13. Lol, negative much. Tis true though, there isn't much money in pt unless you run you own business. That is the same with most things though, you never get rich working for someone. I agree with the part about taking exercise advice from someone who isn't in shape though. Your body essentially becomes part of your business image. The only people I ask for advice from in the gym are the people who are big/ripped, not someone wearing the gyms uniform.
  14. Screw paying for books, interweb ftw!
  15. It wont be hard, but Give yourself a head start and learn all your bones, muscles and muscle origin, insertion and action. It will make it easier if you already have that down. Cit are good about helping you pass test and stuff, but you gotta be willing to put in the work as well.
  16. Cit don't care about atar/uai. So yeh, you just enroll and pay your money. I think it's abit over $1000 for each semester plus textbooks. The fees may have gone up now though with all the restructuring and government related crap that impacted cit. You will be at the cit bruce campus a fair bit, because I think they make you work in the cit gym outside of class time. It's partly working the front desk, but I'd say you will get a bit of program writing for the general public etc for your assessment. You just missed the open day as well...
  17. Are you just going to do cert iv? I have heard good things about the cit one, but it takes a yr to do (from memory) and it apparently is much easier to get a job with.
  18. Talked to abc today, the 6'4 bar is $380 posted with an Abn. I Think I will be going with that!
  19. yeh, i think ill probably end up with either the abc 6'4 bar or the force usa womens crossfit bar http://www.gymandfitness.com.au/olympic-lifting-bar-crossfit-use.html#!prettyPhoto http://www.australianbarbellco.com/barbellsPublic/productdetail.html?productid=%2fbarbells%2folympicbarbells%2fgeneralpurpose%2fBO192BN&perpage=16&page=0&order=
  20. Yeh i get that part, but I don't need 1310mm between the inner edge of the collars. Just bigger than 1150mm so it'll work with my rack. So the ideal bar would be 6ft long, have like 1200mm between collars, thinish collars and then be able to maximize sleeve length. I should just knock down the wall so I can go a full size bar, but that won't go over well with the owners of the place haha!
  21. I'll have to ring abc and talk to them. I have found a few different bars on this website: http://www.gymandfitness.com.au/6-foot-olympic-barbell-commercial.html There's a 2m womens cross fit bar on there as well which has the length taken from the sleeves, but it's pretty pricey. The one I linked to says its got 1230mm worth of shaft between the inner part of the collar, but I have asked them how much room for plates there is on each sleeve. Don't wanna sacrifice to much weight plate room if I can get away with it. So I may have to step up to a 2m bar instead of 6ft. Thanks for your help Markos.
  22. I hope you aren't relying on the powder for all of that?
  23. Good call on the BN wpi vanilla flavor, it's taste heaps better than my last stuff. The BN vanilla casein protein is good as well!
