Hi all, My RB26 keep failing oil pumps. I have replaced N1 pumps few times. motor was seized with last time failure. So now I'm going to rebuild it. here are the stuff I bought brand new nissan R33/34 crank with long nose collar ACL bearings new 600-1000 hp ATI Balancer Old n1 oil pump housing (considered stronger than new N1 oil pump housing) with new Remax gear. few question to ask from SAU gurus do i still need to balance the crank with flywheel and harmonic damper? (is it needed since crank and damper are brand new ) bore not damaged. but is there anything need to be done with the block? Wot else to be done? please advise

Had 180sx while ago with built SR20 low mount gt3071, 850cc injec, moroso sump, EMS stinger 260rwkw and managed get 11.70sec 1/4mile with Mickey Thomson (275/45/17) semi slick at Eastern creek running with stock SR gear box. due to 272 cams 60ft time which was 1.9sec still managed to get 11.70. car weighted 1150kgs with me. I was going to upgrade to gt3076r, rb25box & 15" higher profile MT slicks. change plans and ended up getting R32 gtst rb26 with built bottom end n stock ported & polish head, rb25 box. Currently running gt2560r power fc pro z32 afms 720cc inject bosch 023 pump. In couple months gtx35 or gt3788r orrrr T04Z (still not decided yet. Need to get the dyno done soon anyway. Currently working on oil pump issue. Went thru 1/4mile time slips on SAU couple months back found very less cars do better than 11.7sec. cars got lot more power compare to SR I had, does higher time. Imagine same power/set up rwd & awd rb26. Which would do better time? (both cars run slicks.)

what could be the reason. am I missing anything? If i do a burnout then pump gears will be in pieces. as i told u it beaks on quick rev up. me helpless

it was solid pulley ordering ATI balancer today itself thru ebay. forum member offer me N1 pump with reimax gears. should I go for it or stick with tomei?

me sick n tired of changing oil pumps so often. for some reason it brakes while sudden acceleration. if rev up smooth no dramas. this time i need to change bearings as well. last 4 months i have change 3 N1 pumps thinking it was issue with balancer. broke first time then balance harmonic balancer n crank. broke pump under sudden rev up then replace with billet aluminium crank pulley broke under sudden rev up. so thought of putting best pump in the market along with ati or ross balancer. as i mention earlier currently i got billet crank pulley. hope it would work this time with one of those pump. since tomei got pressure adjuster outside shall i drop the pressure and keep stock sump? btw it is RWD rb26 on r32. have weld stock sump to suit rwd.

broke 2 N1 pumps within last 2 months. crank shaft was balances, replaced 20yr balancer with new billet alu crank pulley. regardless any of above i broke another N1 yesterday. bought both N1 pumps from ebay (US seller) have a feeling that quality could be poor on new N1 pumps. Now I decided go for either tomei or Nitto. if tomei really worth for bucks wouldn't mind spent few hundreds more pick tomei over Nitto. need experts advise. one last thing should i get rid of billet crank pulley and replace with ATI balancer.? thanks in advance.

thanks for your input. haven't notice immediate jump. pressure rises gradually as i mention earlier. need to put oil temp gauge

Hi Guys, put factory oil pump with first rb26 built. did 500kms for seasoning purpose under 3k rev then dyno with HKS gt2530s made 395rwhp. 2nd day after dyno just did a burn out saw oil pressure drop to zero. pull the motor apart. bearings in pcs oil & pump drive crushed. got used mint condition crank fitted with tomei crank collar + N1 oil pump + ACl rod & mains. 300kms no tune just punch 6k rev few times was ok. but yesterday around 6.5k rev same thing happen. pull the motor apart no damaged to internals but pump gear crushed into pieces. oil pressure always between 3-4bar with 6Ltrs oil inside. why this happening to me. pls help

got my rb26 built and started. see oil inside radiator engine was fully stripped down for one year and we started to build 2 weeks back. So I used same head gasket (cometic 1.2mm). can it be the head gasket doing this mess???? gasket was in average condition and previously used for only 1000ks before motor had spun bearing.

35PSI???? no way Im gonna use 6265 then. gt3788 sounds good

Guys, I was going to buy Garrett gt35r then saw this precision ceramic dual ball bearing turbo with billet compressor wheel which is rated 700hp. need 400rwkw on built rb26. Google it and there are many pros about this precision turbo. And authorized local dealer is Powertune Australia. anyone using this precision turbo? need some advises from turbo gurus' whether should stick with GT35R or go with 6265. dont want it to be too laggy . thanks
