  1. the check engine light flashes when it hits 60, as mentioned I dont think there is too much of a problem if it is under that, personnaly as GTSt has suggested, I keep an eye on it and if it increases much over any period of time it tells me perhaps I need to be careful - dirty plugs, changes in humidity or temperature etc. I believe it is a guide only. I have had a tune where it regularly went up to 50-60, and no damage was done. The lowest I have seen is now, where it pretty much always sits below 20. The highest I have seen is 98, no apparent damage, BUT I always back off when the check engine light flashes. I hope that helps.
  2. D1 garage had a second hand Jap one in, not sure if its still there, or horsepower in a box do a lightened one, but it is heavier than the jap ones as is the UAS one from memory.

  9. A good upgrade, cost about $200 to drop a gearbox so it would be worth while doing it at the same time. the reduction of weight will give you an improved midrange torque and improve engine responsiveness. Cant really think of any downsides.
  10. Sounds like things are sorting themselves out - hope all goes well
  11. Wastegate creep?
  12. Any mods to the RB25 engine/s?
  13. Good call Dough Boy - might just get 800hp before the engine goes bang.
  14. mac30, is it a stock car? good luck getting 300rwkw for 10k, I have alread spent 30 (from stock) and still counting, still havent got 300rwkw, still havent got stock internals.
  15. KamikazeR33, why the taste for Jun? Just out of interest, they seem pretty expensive? Sorry this is a bit off topic:( Steve-SST, have you ever found benefit from using adj cam gear on HKS cams? or are they already dialed in from the factory? Cheers Steve
  16. Well www.d1garage.com have one coming in second hand in good condition (so I am told) - would be alot cheaper than new, and they can get new trust gear pretty cheap. But hey, your building an 800hp engine and you want a cheap cooler? No such thing as a cheap 800hp engine.
  17. just think BIG - something like the Trust GTR Drag cooler, 120mm thick:)
  18. Thanks for that:)
  19. JimX, I think Merli has been tuning his with 8000rpm limit and running around like that for a while - he doesnt run out of puff, but has a different turbo (HKS 3040) and cams. I believe that where a car makes peak power can be influenced by alot of things, cams, turbo, manfold, plenum etc Just depends on your setup and what works well with what you have. I hope to be tuning my car properly soon (getting bits fitted), and will be trying 7500 and maybe 8000 redline - just for shits and giggles, so I will let you know how it goes then.
  20. Steve-SST, I must ask, but dont blame you if you dont want to reveal trade secrets, what AF ratios do you like to tune to with the stock bottom end? Also, how much timing would you recommend to pull for a safety margin when you start to see/hear detonation? I have just put my car in to get cams, head gasket, trust plenum and bigger turbine AR (0.87) then it will be time for a tune. I am aiming around the 400rwhp mark. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - I would like it to last as long as possible while I build a 3L bottom end. I do realise that your experience is what you get paid for above and beyond normal labour rates (rightly so), so please feel free to tell to pull my head in if you dont want to answer such questions. Cheers
  21. I can wire it up for you Tman, the results are guaranteed not to be what you want though:D
  22. I was of the understanding that if its a rising rate regulator, it will increase more than 1 psi for every psi boost, hence the 'rising' rate. Also, normal fuel pressure regs raise the pressure linearly, 1psi for every psi of boost, same as an adjustable fuel pressure reg, which just allows base pressure to be raised. Is this right?
  23. Is Arrowdiffs in Melb? They make really nice dumps.
  24. I didnt use memory (much safer for me) just an online conversion calculator:) either way though, 0.2psi isnt worth arguing about, now if it was 0.3psi!
  25. Very big congrats to both you and Paul. Love your work with the kit form;) Good to see a workshop getting it right here is aust, action speaks so much louder than words.
