Yeah it was a good night, thanks heaps for the ride. Just think without me in the car, you may have had that GTR....
  2. thats the one:) Have a look at the thread BOOSTD posted about his $350 260rwkw turbo. Most definately, i had trouble giving my stock intercooler away ended up at the local rubbish dump.

He probably floated home:p Dean rang me and asked where it was - then never showed up Ah well next time:)
  4. Oh and the reason I believe alot of people look at Jap turbos is because they have been making turbos for these engines for a long, long time and know what they are doing:)
  5. Stock turbo should be able to support that sort of power reliably, no probs. Problems start when people start winding in too much boost, esp with the stock cooler, as it has a pretty huge pressure drop at higher rpm. With a decent FMIC you shouldnt have any probs running 0.85bar boost(12.5psi), day in day out and easily be making around 270-280rwhp. Alot of guys on here run 1bar without dramas, but some do have dramas. the stock turbo is not too bad for what it is. If you are only chasing 260-300rwhp, why upgrade, really not necessary. If you want a bit more, have a look at BOOSTDs post on upgrade comp wheel and using a VG30 housing - I am sure they wouldnt be hard to find in US. Just some ideas anyways. But seriously with the hp you are chasing you wont need to upgrade the turbo.
  6. And it may be worth doing a search, there is heaps of info on different turbos and their performance;)
  7. I think that will be a little small for the RB25, a bit smaller than the stock turbo. what sort of power are you after? Is this going to be a drift car, circuit, drag, street? or all of the above:D Have a look at the GT28 series, they would give you a good midrange and top end. GT30s go well too.
  8. If you dont have a cold air feed, it would probably rob you of power. BOOSTD had back to dynos before and after and gained power by removing his partition. With a cold air feed, different story altogether. Improved throttle response - best way to describe is on a hot day, the throttle response is more like it is first thing in the morning - if that makes sense? Once you have a front mount, it frees up a nice hole to make the feed.

  11. I only have a couple of photos at the moment, not huge detail. If you pm me your e-mail I will send you what I have. My car isnt here at the moment, but I will try and track down a digi camera and get some closeups when it gets home:)
  12. Freebaggin, AED quoted me around $400, was a while ago, cant remeber the details but he may be worth a look in.
  13. And now I have a box, well a partition with a lid, made out of aluminium, got it custom made for about $150 Pic attached.
  14. Attached is a pic of my partition, made out of the metal backed foam, and topped with 'armourflex' pipe insulation. Just used a manila folder to work out how it needed to be cut, then traced it onto the foam. It is a tight enough fit that it didnt need any brackets to hold it into place. total cost was around $25 with enough foam to make 2 partitions.
  15. Good stuff, enjoy the quiet before the storm while they rest up in hospital:D
  16. The 3037 is pretty sweet:D Cant really say too much from an alrounder package until I have done head gasket and wound up the boost (when my trust plenum gets here:D). Summary, for a street/strip car - awesome, absolutely awesome. I cant wait to get the traction side of things sorted better though:) To drive, boost builds alot slower than the stock turbo at first, but doesnt start alot later in the rev range - once around 8lbs comes up (a bit under 3000rpm) all hell brakes loose, just like hitting a nos button. Goes from around 8lbs to 15 in 2-300rpm or so I guess. Bit hard to tell when you are driving. With 1.2bar dialed in its alot worse - 120odd kph in 4th, 1/4 - 1/3 throttle (what I thought was gentle accelleration) and sideways:). So, until I get this traction sorted a bit better, the boost is staying down unless there is no traffic around. It just hits sooo hard sooo quickly. The power band is great, can stay on boost through the gears no probs - that is running a 7200 redline. Just traction that is a problem.
  17. Big congrats on the new arrival, mum and bub doing well I hope?
  18. Good to meet you too Tim - those rissoles were pretty tasty:) Fortuneately the kids like em too:D We were opposite the staging area, there was a big white and green portable gazebo thingy, we were about 20m further along, away from the main buildings. Crap weather, but some nice dorifto.
  19. Good luck - will be better than a new one. 5 out of 6 ringlands - thats gotta be one of the better efforts around;) did you find the fault/s? have you checked the flow of the injectors yet?
  20. Or a big grey tarp so everyone can see where we are:) hehehehe Nice meeting up with those of you I caught up with
  21. Thanks browny, that sounds a bit better:) 9krpm, how did you go with the emissions test? Everything sorted now? I wouldnt mind a copy of those detail, is it ok if you send them to my work fax? I'll pm you the details Cheers Steve
  22. Maybe should organise a weekend when the weather warms up a bit, and hopefully, my car is going again.
