  1. Its funny, with the lack of taction, I reckon a 200rwkw skyline would walk all over me until about half way through third gear. Mind you first and second only last a couple of seconds each:D
  2. Rob, you may find if you put a smaller housing on, you will loose a few kw up top, but you will gain mid range and boost response.
  3. RB30 is from a VL Commodore Series II block (not sure of the years) A short motor will cost around $100AUD from a wrecker so they are very cheap.
  4. Hmmm, hills run:D
  5. The 3037 on Trent's car has a 0.73 on it, I have seen his 2835, but I am not sure what size the housing is. He is having a bit of work done in other areas until he puts the turbo on. Dont want to say too much on a public forum, cos its not really my place to be telling if you know what I mean;) I am really keen to get hold of a 0.73, but ideally would like to be able to try a 0.87 too, just for comparison sake. It is one of those things, if I dont know for sure, I will always wonder and that will drive me nuts:D So if anybody has a 0.87 or 0.73 they would like to swap for a 0.61:D
  6. Getting alot of blow by is a sure sign the engine is a bit tired. Having said that, it could last for ages yet.
  7. RS500, 1.01 is a bit big for my liking sorry but that is probably perfect for a 3 litre. I only have a 0.61, werent you after 0.73? EVOIV, I am pretty sure the turbo has no dramas to 1.2 bar, cos I already gave it a test run. I am thinking that even though it may make power at higher boost, the back pressure could be choking the engine and I would make more power at the same boost with a bigger housing. Just not too sure how much lag I want to trade off. BOOSTD said there wasnt much difference between 0.6 and 0.8 on his turbo, so I am even keener to try a larger housing, even if it still pulls hard with more boost. INASNT, I am interested, but with the cost of fuel and accomodation, it would probably be alot cheaper to do it here in SA:D Would be a nice drive though.
  8. Thats why I think yours is done in 3rd, it doesnt go high enough:D
  9. Torque is actually improved on mine down low, feels much better to drive than with the stock turbo.
  10. Looks like it is in 3rd gear. What sort of boost is that at? Doesnt seem to spool up like mine:) Torque seems to be really dropping at the top, but otherwise that seems like nice progressive power dilivery. How did it drive? Wouldnt you be better off with a smaller turbine housing? would probably bring boost on a bit quicker.
  11. Thanks sidewaymambo. EVOIV, the scale at the bottom of the dyno was not calibrated properly. Basically boost starts about 2200 to 2300 or there abouts, then at about 2800-3000 it goes crazy. If you look at the torque curve, it goes almost vertical - thats the boost hitting, you can also see it on the power curve, after full boost is made (where the torque curve flat lines) the power curve stops climbing as aggressively. Hope that explains. My run was done in 4th, sometimes runs are done in 3rd, but because there is a gearing advantage (ie not 1:1) the torque and therefore power would be higher than if run in 4th. At the end of the day I dont think it makes a huge difference which gear, the main difference is how and where the power is made. No good just making decent power in the last 1500 or 2000 rpm, unless you are on a drag stip and have set up your gearing to be able to keep within that range - if you know what I mean? I might have to go and find your dyno results:D
  12. Depends on if you want barby breakfast.
  13. Hmmm beers:D congrats Dean
  14. Hehehe, when I first drove mine with the twin plate, it was straight into peak hour traffic. Anyone near me must have thought I was a farking nutbag or something- you know what I mean;) But once you are used to them, you would never want to go back to single.
  15. EVOIV, did you see my dyno? when it hits, it hits in about 3-400rpm. Sort of weird, it builds around 4-6 pounds normally, then it just goes crazy.
  16. 4 Doorz, I think yours will go bang - a case of when, not if at 16psi:D as long as you have fun doing it, its all that matters;)
  17. End up with your sweed on the telly, " ....and police had to be called in to remove several drunken car enthusiasts who refused to leave...." Sounds like fun:D This JMS drift day could end up being huge, driving during the day, lots of piss, put on bands in the evening, wet tee shirt comps (gotta have nudity if alchohol is involved:D) and just stay overnight...hehehehe. Ah its nice to dream May be if we start planning for the next one now! Instead of JMS Drift Day - JMS DRIFT FESTIVAL
  18. Hippy, how could you say that! havent you seen F&F? lol Paul, sounds good;) Think I better ring the park and find out if they will be/could be open at that time:)
  19. I'm with you.
  20. And if anybody is wanting one, get it now. It took me 10 months to track one down.
  21. So does mine, and its fiberglass! Thats what I am saying, untill you break the farking thing, you wouldnt know! IF YOURS IS PLASTIC, ITS NOT MADE BY NISSAN BECAUSE FACTORY NISSAN GTR WINGS ARE FIBREGLASS.
  22. Grepin, you have been added, will let you know where we are meeting when I see you tomorrow. I have updated list of those attending, Joel, if you start at 11, you got 1 and a half hours of cruising before then:D GFXman, pm sent with meeting place
  23. That definately is true. I got a mate to pick me one up in Japan in the container on the way over it got a small crack and it was fibreglass. This is 100% genuine removed from a GTR bootlid in Japan. Even the guy who I am getting to paint it (and does platic repairs to bumpers etc) when I told him I had a genuine wing and it had a crack in it he told me (over the phone) to take it to a fiberglass shop to repair as he couldnt do fiberglass repairs - I hadnt told him it was glass, I just asked him if he could fix it - he is a panel beater and he knew the genuine ones were glass. I thought they were platic too, and apart from the cracked bit, you couldnt tell because they are that well made. They are superb quality, and it is especially noticeable when you have seen the copies around. Seriously, the reason you think it is plastic is because they are that well made. Even the genuine series 2 wing I am selling is glass. I am not trying to give you a hard time, and if I hadnt been able to get one from Japan (I was very lucky), I would buy it because they are as rare as hens teeth and they are sooo much better quality than any copy I have ever seen. I even bought a S2 wing because I thought I would never get a GTR wing:D
  24. skyline33, the genuine ones are fibreglass, but they do look so much nicer than the copies:)
  25. Well, the guys all want to do it on the day, bbq breakfast at 9 (eggs, bacon and sausages) then a bbq lunch - going bbq crazy:)
