  1. 1) if they are installed properly, they are very good and will support over 600hp. 2) seen them from about 400 - 550 3) They are a bit tricky to get in, some of the fittings can be hard to find. If you do a search, there is a good thread that covers installing pumps not too far back. What sort of hp are you chasing? Cos there are some other good options available that are cheaper and easier to install.
  2. The rule of thumb I use with 6 cylinders is cc=bhp, so 550bhp. Also they should be good for an easy 600bhp, but may need to use afuel pressure reg:)
  3. If they are the same, D1 Garage has a couple of GTR 2nd hand ones, also have some 400R ones (2nd hand too) that James picked up in Japan, sorry I dont know how much he wants for them. I am jealous, I love the veilside front bar, looks phat. Is it genuine or copy? If it is copy, how much, where from and how well is it finished and how does it fit? sorry for all the quiestions:D
  4. I love my ohlins on the road. Firm enough to make a pretty huge difference to handling, enough adjustment of the damp to go from traction to drift or soft, infact too soft for my liking:) Hippy has been for a ride in my car, perhaps he could give you a passengers perspective?
  5. bbenny, I got taken for a spin in a RB20 powered cefiro with 230rwkw, he had stock computer, except he had the red line extended to 8200. He also had a fuel cut defender.
  6. My car is S1, and it had 2 stage.
  7. Yep 550cc.
  8. Stock boost control is 2 stage, second stage coming on about 5000-5500 rpm, so that is what you are experiencing. The turbosmart bleeders are pretty popular, it is possible though at 12 psi you were spiking into boost cut which is why the surging/hesistating happened, but I am just guessing:) EBC will give you full boost straight up. You can get a decent one second hand for about $400-$450 (something like a HKS EVC II). New are a bit more pricey. The latest Trust Profec B II is about $725 retail at the moment. I bought my boost controller second hand, and I havent had any probs. You will also need a boost cut defender if you want much more than 12psi, but I highly recommend you dont do that with the stock cooler. Even 12 psi is a bit risky.
  9. Wierd thing happened about a week ago. I got home and about 5 minutes later coppers arrive at the front door. Asked if I was driving the car (wifes), I said I was. He then told me that the car was unregisered for about 3 weeks, and that they found out because they did a random rego check. He then told me that he couldnt book me cos he didnt actually see me driving, but please make sure the rego gets paid before taking it out again. Maybe I just got lucky cos it was a newby copper?

EVOIV, price on turbo heat shield: $80.00 Bargain.
  11. bbenny, that turbo is an awesome combo on the rb20, injectors can stretch to 230rwks no probs with a decent fuel pump and pressure reg. Several guys have been running that sort of power out of them for years with no probs. It may be worth getting a metal afm to turbo pipe, as I have seen them start to choke at about 200rwkw. Paul, once its fitted, the cost will be forgotten:D (or at least excused:p )
  12. ROFL, Hippy the reason you have never seen purple Ohlins is cos they arent Ohlins in the photo:D
  13. Gradenko, I tried to be gentle, but maybe impatience got the better of me, cos I snapped the plastic bits off the top that you put the screwdriver into:D Good to hear you got it sorted, how much did the little plastic joeys end up costing each?
  14. On my car it peaked at 4500rpm with the stock turbo, which I believe is pretty normal, and then started heading downwards. there are alot of good turbos out there, just gotta decide what you want and then find the right one to suit. I dont know what the max torque is on stock internals, plenty of people making 300rwkw+ so if you work on a 7000-7500rpm limit, you could probably work out what sort of torque is being made. If you still have the book you borrowed, I am pretty sure there would be a conversio formula. I hope the torque curve stays the same with more boost, cams and gasket, but I am not holding my breath:D
  15. Not sure. Do you know of anybody cheap? I think the main problem is that they are not a lightweight item.
  16. Basically a flat line tells you that you are making power at a linear rate across the board. With a flat line, you get all the torque up and it stays there. You may see with alot of torque curves (torque is the actual twisting effort that the engine produces) that they drop off as the revs increase, which means that although the power is there (torque x rpm) the actuall pull of the car is reducing. Also, if it increases as the revs build, you are not making peak torque (the fun stuff) until the top of the rev range, so this isnt ideal either. Personally I find it alot more predictable and controllable too if it is linear rather than having a smaller 'sweet spot'. My 0.02 anyways:)
  17. Actually just got him, the kits come with front uprights and hubs, front discs and calipers - rear hubs and disks (use stock calipers). Also front calipers are converted to banjo fitting. Every thing will bolt on to the S13 with nothing esle needed. He said he thinks shipping would be up around the $300AUD but will get a quote on Monday.
  18. Hi Blockhead, I will speak to James on monday and find out the details for you. Shall post up then:)

Hippy, no Dean, 50cm aint much, but it can only help. I would think its better to get right down out of the engine bay, helps keep heat out of there. Doing the entire dump and front pipe couldnt hurt The AF ratios are at 11.8:1, a little richer just as she comes onto boost though - so nice and safe:)
  20. Rob, generally the amount of air flow will vary from trubo to turbo. Some turbos will make 200kw at the same boost another turbo will make 250kw. If I am not mistaken, the TD06 is acutally rated higher than the 3037, but give me an earlier spoolup anyday - personal preferance. Also, your dyno was in shootout mode wasnt it? which will give a different figure to if its not in shootout mode. Anyways, the part that truely impresses me is the long flat torque curve - thats the fun zone:) paul, I have already tried bumping the boost to 1.2bar, but couldnt find anywhere local to really open her up. I sort of tried it, but got very sideways very quickly and there were a few cars about so I thought I would back off until I can find a nice open piece of road - just need a leave pass from the wife for the afternoon:) It will be interesting to see how the GT30 you are fitting goes in comparsion - hurry up:D INASNT, not putting cams and gasket in until I get the plenum sorted so probably a couple of months off unfortunately:( It will be interesting to see how it goes at 1.5-1.6 bar.
  21. That and the 0.61 turbine AR ratio;)
  22. hippy should have ALOT more, the turbo isnt anywhere near its efficieny range yet. the peak power you know, the bottom line is the torque, which looks just about perfect, ie flat line. HP (the top line) is a function of torque and rpm - so a flat torque curve tells you that power delivery is very even. the dog leg up to where the torque curve goes flat is the boost coming on. Thanks Matt. Its acutally a bit wierd do drive, but it wont take long to get used to. Once it comes on boost it feels live a really revvy V8 if you know what I mean. No meaty midsection in the torque before it starts dropping off. Sorry a bit hard to describe.
  23. Attached is an intitial dyno of the HKS 3037S 56T I just had fitted. I got him to keep the boost to 1 bar, and the AF ratios on the conservative side, as I was a bit paranoid about the plenum and the fact that I still havent fitted a head gasket. Torque is very linear, the lower run was on 10lbs the upper on 1 bar, which comes up under 3krpm. Boost starts building at just over 2krpm. Also the car feels more responsive off boost, which could be due to the manifold that was done at the same time as the turbo, also had a front facing throttle body and plenum done. All up it is awesome on the road, totally different car to drive. Top power was only 230kw @ 1 bar - cant wait to wind in some boost and get let the turbo show its true colours:D
