EVOIV, I am pretty sure that the afm wont be hindering airflow at the sort of power I am aiming for (300rwkwish), if I run out of resolution, I will just upgrade to an infinity 90mm:D Off boost the car is more responsive than it was with the stock turbs on. I think it probably has alot to do with the manifold flowing so much better than the stock one. Also I had side facing throttle body before, so the switch to front may be helping. I have just posted a dyno print out from today up on the 'apart from tilbrooks.....' thread. I like it alot. Makes 1 bar under 3000rpm. Next mods, plenum (Evan), have cams (256/264 HKS step one) and adj cam gear for the exhaust with a 1.6mm HKS metal head gasket and oil cooler sitting patiently and waiting to go on, - then will be the time for some real boost:D I also have plans for some DBA rotors in the not too distant future, some nittos, HICAS removal bar, decent seats which seem to be very hard to find in good condition second hand...... the list goes on, you know how it is:D
  2. HKS 3037S 56T
  3. No damage, except to the platic things. I was told by the mech that was helping me that they are quite cheap to replace. Doesnt hurt to saturate the injectors with a bit of CRC as well:) But even then the little buggers just dont want to come out until I used the hammer.
  4. Oops, got so excited I forgot to attach the dyno printout. Sorry its only a photo, scanner is on the fritz:D
  5. Well its done now. Happy as a pig in shit. John only tuned it for 1bar because I wanted conservative until the gasket goes on. They put in platinum plugs, but only charged me $90 for them so I'm happy (ngk platinums). He wanted to go a heat range colder and they only stock platinums, to their credit, they were willing to put my original plugs back in and not charge me for them. Spent a total of 4 hours on the dyno. The results speak for themselves. This turbo is so farken awesome, just cant wait to get some real boost happening. It starts making boost at just over 2k and has 1 bar at under 3k! Off boost is much improved too. Also, as I wanted conservative, the AF ratios are sitting on 11.8:1 - so there will be a bit more to come once The bottom line is with 10lbs, the top with 1bar. I am so stoked, check out the torque curve! Can only recommend them

Hopefully this arvo, just depends on when the wife gets home and I get out there. I'll pm you my phone number, if you give me a call around then I can let you know whats happening:)
  7. EVOIV, I know its expensive, just dont like the idea of being quoted 300 for it to be 5-700. I spoke to tilbrooks too, they said wouldnt be more than 2-2.5 hours on the dyno. I didnt end up going with them because I also asked about fitting cams and Mick tried to tell me he had to do shims as well - on HKS 256/264 step one cams, I dont think so. And I dont like being called 'champ' by someone that I have never met.
  8. Car is in with John at TT, found out about his warranties, basically if he can lock the ecu (eg motec, autronic) he will give a warranty, otherwise no. Bit bizarre, I got quoted 'about $300' for the tune (by John), when I took the car in another guy said could be $500-$700 'cos power fcs can take sooo long to do?. I dont mind paying for a good tune, and I got told less than $300 by a couple of other places, but if it is that much, I dont think I will be back.

Hippy, I doubt it ever will. EVOIV: thanks. the manifold is mild steel, everything else was done in stainless including the dump, except for the hills plenum of course. I had it all ceramic coated, plus I will be heat wrapping the dump too. I would have had it coated even if it was stainless, as I like the idea of keeping the gasses moving as fast as possible. I went mild as I didnt see the need for stainless on the manifold. I am running power fc, and I would like to keep afm. The heat shield was custom made, I shall check to see how much it was. I had so many things done at once it is hard to remeber what each bit cost:)

Thanks Dean, I am using a 40mm HKS standard wastegate, hope its big enough, its rated to over 500hp, so should be ok. I will get a rwkw figure, but it will be no where near 300. The plenum has me a bit concerned, so I asked them to please just do a really safe tune, and keep the AF ratios on the conservative side. When the plenum has been upgraded, I will be doing head gasket and cams then start winding in the boost and see how close she gets to 300:)
  12. Cheers:)

Cheers guys. Paul would be good to see the photos of your baby once shes done:) Well hippy I got a Signal sticker in the garage, only prob is I dont have any signal bits. Lots of HKS bits on the car and waiting to go on the car, just no HKS sticker - spose I'll have to get one before I wind in too much boost:D Car is now getting tuned, unfortunately my little boy is still sick, so I cant be there. Cant wait, even with out a tune the car seems soooo much more responsive off boost, and the note is awesome, nice growl, even at idle sounds a bit angry.
  14. Its funny how all the best laid plans can change in an instant isnt it:D How bizaar that a stock turbs would shit itself at 17psi...hehehe - as long as you had fun killing it. When are you guys getting over here? Perhaps we'll have to arrange a SAU bbq or something? cos I think there will be some guys from east as well
  15. does this mean you have finished internals?
  16. Jeez this wasteland is farken huge, SA only has 7 pages:) Paul, just got car back tonight with new turbs fitted, looks killer. Got some photos on the SA section - tune tomorrow:D

Thanks for the kind words:D I was pretty impressed with the BOV too esp as I was expecting the usual rubber pipe. The other thing that really impressed the hell out of me was the 100mm - 80mm air pipe to the turbo, all hand crafted. Also all the bends are steampipe and been blended so well they look like mandrel bends. Evan truley does magic work, and as usual the photos just dont do it justice. Had a bit of a chat to him about a new plenum - probably 3-4 weeks until he has finished making them and another week to go through fitting and testing.

  21. Hi all, Just got the car back from the turbo/manifold/wastegate/airbox/plenum(Hillsmotorsport one)/BOV fit done by Evan, so I thought I would post some pics up for anyone that is interested:) They are not small images sorry:(
  22. And they/ve been ceramic coated - 9444 to go!
  23. Oh, and of course, dump pipe:)
  24. 3037, custom manifold, plenum, throttle body, airbox, CAI and trust Type R bov.
  25. GTS = high impedance injectors, GTR = low impedance injectors. there is a guy selling 550cc to suit RB20 in the for sale section. Have seen 2530 make 230rwkw with RB20 on 1.2 bar, they are great turbos, perfect for street/drift application on RB20.
