  1. Why did martin leave tilbrooks?
  2. tridentt150v, what is a compliance certificate? What are they for, and how do you get them? Cheers
  3. :bahaha: So anybody got a copy of a eng cert they want let me borrow for research purposes only 46n2, believe it or not, I do believe that a turbo timer is illegal (in SA anyways) also you have braided brake lines, do they have rubber ends or all braid? Cos if its all braid, they too are illegal (need the rubber ends to pass ADR compliance testing). Lots of little things that 'may' not comply. Bottom line is that a cop only has to think that a mod is illegal and the duty of proof of compliance with ADRs is yours ie, inspection time, but if you have certs, I really doubt they would be likely to insist on inspection as you would probably have good grounds to claim harrassment. If it only costs a couple of hundred bucks, great, if its going to cost big dollars, that sucks. so far I am thinking QLD is the go, little holiday up there, get the certs done and a nice cruise back. Not enough places to stop on the way to/from WA:D
  4. Inasnt, it could be that the wires not connecting, and causing all the trouble, arent related to any sensors? Might explain things. It would be worth having a close look a the plug just in case. I think it is the problem for a couple of reasons: a) the plug is the only thing you have farked with apart from the ecu, and you know the ecu works, and B) it would appear that having a plug fault is not an uncommon event. all the evidence points to it. Perhaps even try giving the connections a clean and just do a close visual. In another way, I sort of hope it is the plug, for your sake, as otherwise WTF is it?
  5. I'll give it a shot:) the hp rating is talking about the compressor. the turbine size will dictate when the turbo comes on boost in relation to the cars rpms. This will of course vary depending on what he cc of the engine is, how much load, flow characteristics of the engine - BUT put both on the same engine and one will make boost alot lower in the rev range. The bigger the AR, the more exhasut flow required to spin the turbine wheel, and also as an added benefit, less back pressure. If the turbine AR is too small for the compressor, one side effect can be surge as far as I know, why? this is where I start sort of guessing, so standing by to be flamed. A smaller turbine AR will mean greater back pressure, which would make it harder for the compressor to flow the air into the cylinders = surge????? Please if anybody knows if I am completely off track with this one, and can explain why - do. Also with smaller turbine AR, the wastegate may need to be bigger to prevent boost creep as it will need to flow alot more gas than if a larger housing was fitted. To me it is somewhat of a mystery because there are so many unknown variables when putting a package together and I dont have the money to do the research into finding out what compressor and what turbine would work exactly the way I want with my mods. I have bought a turbo that will produce the power I want, I have decided on using a smallish turbine housing to bring boost on earlier in the revs, using a wastegate that is rated to flow above my target hp, and am prepared to change the turbine housing to free up the top end if it starts to choke, or if I start experiencing surge when I start winding in extra boost:)
  6. how is spring kg rating converted to lbs?
  7. Inasnt, I dont know why that would happen. I had my battery disconnected for about 2 weeks and all the settings remained?
  8. May be interested but in a couple of months:( Still got head work, brakes and some sus mods to get sorted first - it never ends:)
  9. tridentt150v, I hope they are, then I will definately be going on a holiday:) If anybody in any state can recommend a place to get mods engineered, please feel free to post up their contact details or urls if they have them Cheers
  10. Seems wierd if everything works with stock ecu, but not power fc - esp as the power fc works ok. Good luck
  11. I think it was fatz that was saying he can get forgies for $1300 with rings?
  12. sidewaymambo, I am having my TB replaced with a ford item, it has a two position sensor (on/off) and the guy who is fitting it said it is quite easy to adapt the stock TPS to the ford TB Also, I am using a GTiR throttle cable that fits quite nicely, also you can get the stock ones shortened so I am told.
  13. BOOSTD, page 50 and 51 of issue 3 of Speed state that the JMS R33 has Tomei 264 exhaust and RB25DE inlet cams.
  14. Here it is: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...threadid=19278& Have a look towards the bottom of the page for a post by whatsisname.
  15. Have heard of some guys having trouble with the ecu plugs. Apparently, the two halves of the plug can become a bit loose or something. Will chase down the thread and post it up for you:)
  16. Engineers Cert: MINIMUM if nothing needs to be changed (emissions, handling, braking, noise) is $1770. Having this then in no way guarantees that Regency will pass it. Anybody want to move to SA?
  17. no offence, but I think I will be staying away from that one too...
  18. I am running a bosch 044, before that it was stock, no problems either way. I have never heard of a fuel pump not communicating with a power fc, it doesnt have fuzzy logic or anything, just binary swiching? So WTF? Have you tried resetting the power fc - back to original settings? It may be worth asking what functions are available throught laptop that arent available throught hand controller, but if you dont need to activate them, why bother with getting them to do the tune. A good tune depends on the guy pushing the buttons, not how many buttons he can push:)
  19. I dont know if this will help, but have you tried turning off the boost controller option, or checking that it has been turned off? I have series 1 with power fc and it primes the pump for about 3 seconds, not 1.
  20. nixcars, theoretically the best design for a plenum is one that feeds from the middle, not the front. I it may possible to do what you are saying, however I reckon the differences are that small, it would be almost impossible to get exact. And if it were such a simple thing to do, HKS would have had a look at it already and not be just using their injectors to allow for the difference between cylinders. After all the difference between optimum AF ratios and detonation can be a very fine line esp when a car is near it absolute limits. Its probably better to stick with what you know will work than take the chance, unless of course you have a few engines you can afford to blow up, and many thousands of dollars to get your plenum exact.
  21. BOOSTD, looks like its time to dig up the old copy of SPEED, in which the car was featured. 90% sure they stated JMS used NA cams?
  22. beware vendetta's switch....lol I'd hate to see what the others do:p
  23. The problem with the rear cylinders is they get more air and lean out. Even the fella who built the HKS drag skyline says this, and he recommends what sydneykid does. My only problem was that when I got my new injectors, they all flowed the same except for 1 and that was only just on 1% over:(
  24. Bloody commodore mechanics.....
  25. True dat:D
