Miss Nismo, you can borrow my car if you want - as long as I get the photos
-
I want the photo rights:D Hippy, can I borrow your digital camera?
-
Thats farken huge torque aswell, nice progressive delivery too - not vertical hphero style. Any chance you going to share secrets:D What setup are you running? Those wheels look phat.
-
Does this mean its still internally standard?
-
Jeez, you did a good job there Brendan. As what megs says, dont think you can rule anything out as yet - plenum, injectors, or ECU. But I would definately get the injectors tested esp as they have been highflowed, find out what the difference of flow rate is and what pattern they are spraying. As the head has to come off, removing the injectors would be pretty simple/cheap and the testing isnt too expensive - I had my new ones flowed for $5.50 each. Then get the plenum tested too, to be on the safe side. Must be someone in Sydney with a flow bench who could give you a figure. With ECUs quite often it has something to do with who is punching the figures. Which one are you using again? At the end of the day, the engine could have had a hard life in the hands of the previous owner - but I would like to make sure before I go puting stuff back on, just to be on the safe side. Still laughing at the compression test results - sorry but its pretty funny:D

You can use the pickup from the stock pump, just have to remove the tag that secures it to the stock pump (its plastic and sidecutters and stanley knife do a nice job), then use a piece of 1/2" hose from the bottom of the pump to the pickup and a couple of clamps. You also need the fitting to go in the bottom of the pump and these are pretty rare but I found one at a speed shop, then you need a hosetail connector to go on the fitting to attach the 1/2 inch line. You also need a banjo connector for the top of the pump, and some 3/8 fuel line to replace the existing stuff cos its too small and hose clamps. A couple of wire connectors, an 8mm and 10mm nut, stainless hose clamp to secure the pump to the bracket, but you could probably use cable ties if you are in a bodgey mood. The pump ends up alot higher on the bracket so the pickup is in the right spot, so you need to bend the two tongues that secure the bracket to the (edit) tank, as the extra girth of the pump over stock prevents the tongues locating in the bracket. If your insurance company wants you to keep a stock fuel pump, try a GTR one, I doubt very if an insurance inspector would know the difference between it and a stock one. then just get an adjustable nismo fuel pressure reg, cos apart from the adjust bolt on the top, they look stock and fit in the stock position. Something to think about anyways.

could be the answer for a few quick mod dollars....lol:D

448rwkw, thats farken huge, what setup is it running nowadays?
-
If you are chasing upto 250rwkw, go the GTR pump, they fit where the stock one does and minimal stuffing around. I just put in a 044, what a pain in the arse. Had to chase around for hours to get all the mounting adaptors hardware, then had to hack saw the bracket to fit the pump, then bend the bracket to fit it into the tank and it still didnt go in easy. I would estimante a stock pump to gtr would take 1 hour tops, 044, with all the stuffing around (trying to find the parts, then actually getting them) took the best part of a day. Or, just put a bosch pump in line.

Poor Miss Nismo, you must learn to find your 'happy place', if that fails, try looking in the bottom of a bottle of bourbon:) Or perhaps we could all just go out and buy 200sx's - fully sik ones, then we could all be happy and no one misses out?
-
Perhaps you mean cam gear cover, cam cover would get a bit dirty. You could try e-mailing one of the jap parts websites like http://www.greenline.jp

maybe.... maybe not

dont feel too bad, I'm certainly not cut up about it, and I guess I'm not the only one.
-
Well they be a necessary evil, even a stock bov makes noise, but they are good for the turbo. Also, I noticed a definate improvment in reduced lag on gearchange when I fitted mine (aftermarket one that is). that aside, I dont like the fact that these people can order you to have an inspection because your car has a bov! they are fitted when stock, so whats the big problem?
-
Not too sure about pods here, in WA pod has to be secured properlly, and must not be a flammable type - whatever that means. Would be interesting to see a list of illegal mods according to each states' inspection stations, just to compare seeing as we are all supposed to following the same ADRs.
-
I dont know if they test the drive the cars. If my car ever has to go over regency, I think I will be removing the sticker from the afm just in case they check. Its all pretty incredible though, and afm for a z32 would be comply with ADRs just the same as a RB20/25 - its just these anal pricks that like playing god. I have been doing a bit of research, and as yet I am still unable to find anything that would make it illegal. I have also been trying to find out why BOVs are illegal, and no luck. The only thing I could find that regulates emissions states that crank case gasses must go through the inductions system, and that all exhuast gasses must go through the exhaust. As for sound, that is measured from the exhaust, not during gear change, but I still find it difficult to believe that intake noise or BOV noise would possibley exceed the prescribed 89dB. All very confusing. By the way, does anybody know where a company is that provides engineers' reports for aftermarket modifications is in Adelaide, or have any ideas of the cost involved when getting mods certified? Cheers.

No, they knew it wasnt the stock AFM - he got the car stocked out himself, because he didnt want to keep the car as stock, and was worried (probably rightly) that if he went back to the yard they would stock it out for him, but he would loose the goodies.
-
Nice call GTR King - official complaints, keep polite and objective, that will really start giving them the shits and might pull those dick heads into line. ROFLI agree with you on the sue thing hippy, just reckon it would be next to useless and the only person paying would be the one doing the sueing.... it is my understanding that as the law stands, the police dont have to know if a car is defective, just believe it may be - but getting defected for items that are OEM, or comply with ADRs would definately be worth making a complaint, or if the copper is being a rude arrogant SOB. Would love to know exactly what and when a car can be defected. Heard another interesting one yesterday, guy buys R32, gets defect within a couple of weeks of buying it (from a yard) - goes to regency and is told he has to take it back to stock completely, even has to remove his Z32 AFM (chipped ecu) becuase it isnt a stock item - crazyness.
-
Thanks yet again hippy, nice to know I can rely on you.
-
They look phat.
-
Way to go Miss Nismo, about time
-
Save a few bucks for other mods. The R32 ecu can be modded to accept a z32 or infinity AFM cant it? Alot cheaper than going to full map.
-
What wheels are you running? I have seen people with 19" 35 series wonder why the ride is so hard - just a thought, it may not be just your springs

I spoke to James at D1 Garage about a discount for forum members. He has agreed to a 10% discount for forum members. He has a container coming soon, so is willing to do deals to clear stock. Plus if you need anything ordered in (he can get almost anything), the discount will apply to that as well. www.d1garage.com you asked, you got
