nissaner, I was under the impression that the HKS wastegate actuators have spring rates that are set - in your case, it sounds like you might be experienceing a bit of boost creep - what sort of turbo are you running - if it is a highflow, did they make the wastegate larger? I dont know about bang noises, could it be compressor surge? Sorry if this isnt much help.

From what I have read, the head in stock form should be well and truely capable of that sort of power without porting. Its not in melbourne, but Hillsmotorsport quoted me $895 for a head port including extrusion hone, might be worth sending it up there.
-
But his first choice was a Jap setup, but he quoted over 10K for a RX6 or 3037 kit and decided it was too dear, so it would appear he hasnt heard of greenline or FVEJ... All I can say is Ben, I didnt compromise, I got the 3037:p and all up fitted with HKS wastegate, manifold and all associated pipework, ceramic coating and braded lines it will be under 6k. Rob, have you spoken to the guys at Per4manz Turbochargine - they were doing packages fully fitted for 5k about a year ago - pretty sure they were very capable of the sort of power you are after.
-
dont know how much they cost, but hks do 1bar actuators, might be worth dropping an e-mail to greenline.

Thanks guys, I downloaded the evaluation copy, but I cant find an instal file????? but there is some nice gifs and javascript in there:)

Thats a really interesting point lowlux - I was just reading tonight in a book called '21st century performance' where they were comparing variable cam timing and different cam profiles - and guess what - with larger profile cams the vvt made no gain at all, this was on a lexus v8 I think - the book is at work so I cant look it up at the moment. Cant remeber the cam profiles either - sorry. Has anybody experimented with aftermarket cams and VVT?
-
Thanks Hippy, I have heard good things about Dreamweaver, but I am using HTML kit ('cos its free) at the moment, its not bad, but if you want info on all the functions - thats what costs. Might have to visit astalavista and see if I cant find a crack - for evaluation purposes only of course:) I'll get that gay website up as soon as you send me those photos you took at your last picnic/catholic schoolboy convention
-
Bit of a shame all the same - perhaps you should just save up for the GTR? Start a collection:) With that sort of power she would make a brilliant drift machine.
-
Nah, the ultimate candidate for nos, suzuki mightyboy! Sorry Rev, I'll stop whoreing now.
-
Joel, does this apply to RB2det too? - I have been getting detonation when I floor it, usually just over 5000rpm, got any more info on this? May just have to get rid of the VVT, but it will be a pig to drive off boost. - think I shall test it without the VVT tomorrow.
-
Sydneykid, I think this has a bit of potential on the circuit too - just what you need on the straight to give you the edge:) Belly up, I would actually pay to see a dumped excel running nos - how f##king funny it would be. If only I had the extra $$$.

Always the cheap shots...... Something you all may find amusing, got this e-mail the other day: Probably written by some uni student with too much time on their hands ? eh Hippy? why did the chicken cross the road SAEED AL SAHAF - Iraqi Head of Information The chicken did not cross the road. This is a complete fabrication. In fact, we do not even have a chicken. HANS BLIX We have reason to believe there may be potential for this chicken's capability, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road. COLIN POWELL Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road. GEORGE W BUSH We don't care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either for us or against us. here is no middle ground. TONY BLAIR I agree with George. JOHN HOWARD I agree with George and Tony. KIM BEAZLEY There is no challenge to the chicken at this stage, but if I were crossing the road .... SIMON CREAN @#@#!!@ Chicken. No one crosses the @#@#!!@ road without my @#@#!!@ say so. It's time for the chicken to put up or shut up. PETER HOLLINGWORTH (Governor-General) I am not aware of any impropriety in the chicken crossing the road. In fact I am led to believe that it was the other way around and the chicken asked for it DR SEUSS Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross roads without having their motives called into question. GRANDPA In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough. OPRAH Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart-warming story of how it felt accomplishing its lifelong dream of crossing the road. JOHN LENNON Imagine all the chickens, crossing all the roads. You may say I'm a dreamer - but its not the only hen. MICHAEL JACKSON There's nothing more wonderful than sharing your bed with a chicken. ARISTOTLE It is the nature of chickens to cross the road. KARL MARX It was an historic inevitability. ARSENE WENGER What chicken? I did not see it. ALEX FERGUSON The chicken was not drawn to the other side fairly, and Beckham is not bigger than this club. SIGMUND FREUD The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity. BILL GATES eChicken2003 version 1.0 will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your cheque book - and internet explorer is an integral part of eChicken. ALBERT EINSTEIN Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken? BILL CLINTON I did not have sexual relations with that chicken! THE BIBLE And God came down from heaven, and he said unto the chicken THOU SHALT CROSS THE ROAD. And the chicken didst cross the road, and there was much rejoicing. COLONEL SANDERS Did I miss one? Jayson, at 190rwkw, it could be sooner rather than later. Alot of people start having troubles at or earlier than that figure (myself included) - depends on what shape the stock one is in. My suggestion is dont go doing too many hard launches until you upgrade. Having used both the button clutch and twin plate - if you can definately save up. You can pick up a decent twin for $1200 or less - and a couple of hundred for fitting.

You will need an adjustable fuel pressure reg when your injectors are starting to reach the limit of their efficieny (about 80%) and you want to squeeze a bit more out of them. Usually good for an extra 10% or so. With 550cc in 6 cyl shoud be good for 550 bhp, if you were after 600bhp, an adjustable fuel pressure reg would be the go, or bigger injectors. If you were after 650 you would have to consider new injectors, or extra staged injectors if your ECU can handle it as it would be a bit beyond the fuel pressure reg.
-
For upto $800, get a button clutch and upgrade your pressure plate - dont really have many options at that price range.
-
Actually, if you enquired a little while ago, the yen has got weaker (76.8 today) so it may even be a bit cheaper.
-
There was a guy on one of the other threads in here who mentioned he had a GT30 - might be worth doing a search and asking him what he thinks - from the sounds of things he was pretty happy. If you dont intend doing injectors just yet, get a fuel pressure reg as you are probably close to the limit of your injectors at the moment. And get a bigger fuel pump too. Last thing you want to do is lean out too much. Metal head gaget probably a good idea if you want to wind up the boost safely, and arent doing an internal rebuild. But ultimately depends on what sort of rwkw figure you are chasing.

Just buy a HKS turbo, they're not too expensive and you know they work - really, really well.
-
Hi flow, is when they take off the turbine and compressor covers and bore them out, allowing bigger (steel) wheels to be placed in there. If you dont have alot of money to spend, you could buy a good second hand turbo for $400-$700 and put that on. If you want to high flow your old one when you have the money, and sell the 2nd hand one that you put on in the mean time to recoupe the money you spent. Just some ideas
-
If you want straight bolt on - get a high flow, no messing with pipework, oil lines etc. Shoud be well under 3k fitted
-
If you dont have already, suspension is a good choice. Have seen bilstiens with springs 2nd hand for $6-700 - then perhaps some pineapples.

Went for a spin in a Cefiro with RB20DET, FMIC, full exhaust, pod and HKS 2530, boost controller and 1.2 bar - put down 230rwkw. It was a drift car and had heaps of midrange. Oh, he also tweaked the restirictor to the fuel pressure reg to get slightly higher fuel press, but that was it. The car only weighed 1240kg, but if felt like it had alot more power than it was putting down. It is featured in the latest HPI - some nice photos of it going sideways. I know that this is a bit more than 2k, but if you already have the exhaust, go FMIC and a bleeder. Then when the funds allow get a 2530 - you wont be dissapointed.
