  1. Good luck, as far as I know the compressor maps for HKS turbos are tightly guarded secrets. Most places that put big dollars into turbo R&D will not release their compressor maps. You can however get generic garrett compressor maps quite easily.
  2. Clint I cant believe you're selling after putting in so much work. To anyone interested this is a really nice looking car and its a bargain. Clint - why not buy a half cut, convert it to stock and sell the bits, you would save $$$$ If you decide to I want dibs on the thermo fans, oil cooler and remote mount and the alarm
  3. Ender, this is true, but speak to rev210 - he got some great times with 100kg of balast in the boot. On a dyno sometimes they put people in the boot. A serious drag car will try and loose as much weight as possible. Try taking your car for a thrash with a full tank of petrol, 1/2 a tank and almost empty. I definatley notice a traction difference. In second with a near empty tank, from 30kph with 1/2 throttle and in a straight line my car goes sideways - doesnt happen with a full tank of petrol. Remeber skylines dont have alot of weight on the back wheels for a drag car, which is why squat is so important on RWD for the drags, transfers to the back wheels.
  4. Ender, less weight (removing hicas) on the rear wheels = less traction
  5. Why arent you the persistant one hehehe, you got PM Joe, special price just for you
  6. HKS cams only cost 1k for the set ex japan, it may be a little dearer than rebuilding the stock ones, but they are made from one piece of steel. Adding steel and regrinding is a bit bodgey for high rpm applications IMHO - and it doesnt save you money. You are spending enough that it would warrant getting it right the first time.
  7. nissaner, they should have a drain on the bottom - otherwise just remove and up end to drain:)
  8. Radiator overflow with a filter? Looks alot like a catch can for a radiator overlow:p
  9. MrRB20, the fumes from the crank case vents, which is why they are illegal ie emissions compliance. nissaner - why do you want to clean the dirt inside the catch can?
  10. Dude, I doubt this will be very streetable. If you do want something for the street, I would suggest perhaps 2 fuel rails, otherwise you are going to have a prick of a time trying to get it to idle nicely with 1000cc injectors - my mech was saying 850's were a bit big. I am thinking autronic or motec for that sort of power - no laptop for power fc plus you can stage the injectors. Sorry I wouldnt have a clue what would be needed to be done to a head for that sort of power, but I would think you need to do everything:D
  11. I would definately give an aftermarket BOV a bash. I did for exactly the same reason you are stating (only I didnt have a larger turbo) - it made a difference.
  12. Catch can - do it, you really dont need the oil vapour coating the inside of your cooler and turbo do you ? As long as it doesnt vent to atmosphere, it is lega, as venting to atmo is an emissions violation. This is what I got told by a cop. Your car can be bog stock and just off the production line and it can get stickered. It is up to the copper's judgement, if he thinks it is not legal he can sticker it. this can be just about anything - I think you would be asking for trouble if you refused to pop your bonnet. Just be polite, dont gob on. If you decide you want to be smart, you can guarantee the minimum you will get is a sticker - perhaps worse.
  13. Thats not a bad idea, got to do something with the holidays. It would be tough on the way home, all those open roads and an engine that isnt run in.
  14. hmmm, cooler envy.....lol
  15. So you rate them on a par with RB25 stock pistons? You say that they are good for 450 also? I shall try and chase down where I read that.
  16. Perhaps changing the diff would help make a stockish RB20 VL feel a bit more lively.
  17. 4K drive in drive out 3L with forgies, shame they dont have a shop in adeliade.
  18. Dont worry too much about the drive line on an R33 skyline gtst. They are pretty tough. R32 arent quite so robust though (gearbox) If something on the driveline goes due to extra hp, and you upgrade it to handle the increased power - that extra power will then look for the next weakest link until it gets to the ground. More of a problem for 4WD because it is easier to light up 2 wheels instead of 4 - so more strain on the driveline. If you are really worried, get shit tyres with no grip:p ...hehe cracked my self up
  19. Not too sure exactly how much room there is, worse case scenario though would be an adapter required. They are a nice looking turbo, pity with the stock manifold you wouldnt get to see too much of it.
  20. http://www.greenline.jp/catalogue/btlist.p...php?type=engine you want the 2835 pro. drop a line to simon (the australian rep) at [email protected] he's a pretty helpful guy.
  21. 300rwks seems to be done alot in Japan on stock internals, no I have never seen this, but I have it on several sources from people that have - the one thing they have in common is a metal head gasket to decompress the engine. This is to prevent detonation - which will kill any engine. I read on a post of Merli's somewhere that he has been putting down 280rwkw for some time on stock internals and hasnt had any dramas yet. I realise a metal head gasket is a bit of a quick fix, but if it works well - 1k (gasket fitted) versus many thousands - at the end of the day if the bottom end goes, just build a 3L to replace it. A 3L short motor is rediculously cheap.
