  1. Much clearer, many thanks
  2. Want a manifold to suit RB25 with a GT25 turbo flange. The flange is not necessary, as these can always be changed, but I am not realy after a log style manifold. Also chasing a fuel rail for top feed denso injectors. Cheers Steve
  3. Sydneykid, You advised me once to do an RB25/30 engine with a RB25DET head to keep the VVT, but here you are recommending an RB25DE head - what am I missing? Cheers Steve
  4. Have had a little bit of experience with painting metal (no I am not a spraypainter, but have had to paint ships). Preperation is the most important part. Lightly roughen up the surface with a fine grade paper, 400 or similar. This gives the paint a surface to stick to. Make sure just before you apply a first coat of primer that you wipe the surface over with prepsol or thinners. Apply the paint evenly, not too thick or it will run - so light coats are good. Keep the painted surface in a dry place and away from any dust. Best results on days of over 25deg C (not vital), but low humidity. If the humidity gets above 75% I wouldnt touch it. A couple of coats of primer, three or four light top coats. Clear coat, I am not sure how necessary this would be on wiper blades. Shiny blades would reflect a bit of sun and might be annoying when driving. Make sure you use the same type of primer, thinners and topcoat, ie all enamel or all acrylic. This is very important. If you have to sand back at any stage, make sure you use thinners or prepsol again before painting again. Just my 0.02c worth. I have got most of my experience with large areas and brushes, not small stuff with spray cans, but I have done both.
  5. Nice result. That torque curve looks pretty bloody good too, must go like a cut snake. No wonder your happy. Can you enlighten us to the mods so far? Cheers Steve
  6. Why not Cheeky? I was thinking about it, I could defect imports for NOT being modified hehehehe
  7. Dude, that turbine housing is probably the biggest garret make, or close to it. Probably good for trucks. I wouldn't even bother trying to fit it with out changing that first. Good luck
  8. At that price ($1200) you could buy a new exhaust housing, fittthe turbo, sell your old turbo. It would still be cheaper than a good high flow (2Kish) and you get a few $ back from the selling the stocky. That is quite a large comp housing, so you probably wouldnt need to run very high boost to achieve your 250rwkw which is always a good thing.
  9. Hmmm, looks like will just have to swap cars, then your car cant be impounded as it causes problems for the owner. I would like to see what acutally consistutes a car hoon. Soon you wont be able to fart in public without copping a fine. Poor Cheeky - U R probably right....lol - you could always just become a cop yourself! If you cant beat em, join em.
  10. $1200 for a new T04E - what are you waiting for. I think to answer your question properly, it would be necessary to know what the turbo specs are as they can vary a bit. Have seen a few on both RB20s and RB25s with good results, does depend on exactly what you are looking for in a turbo. what sort of application? Drag, drift, circuit, street? Would say you will probably get more lag than the stocky. For $1200, you could fit it and if it is no good, you could probably get your money back selling it second hand if you decided you didnt like it. That is very cheap for new. EDIT: big advantage over BB turbo - they are rebuildable, disadvantage - more lag.
  11. silver33, this is a very easy thing to do. Just loosen off the clamps front and back, spray the cleaner at the sensor, and replace the afm. It has mesh on the front and back, which doesnt need to be removed, but alot of people do remove the mesh to improve flow - not too sure it does much thought(removing the mesh). If you are still a bit hesitant, someone has posted a thread with detail instructions and photos. Either on performance or maintenance forum.
  12. Thats still bloody cheap for forged pistons, who do I call? Cheers Steve
  13. They must get busy, I tried calling them and always engaged
  14. O2 sensor seems like a good call for starters. There is some info on these on Meggala's site, believe the EL ford one fits? Worth a look.
  15. No it wont, do a search this has been covered many times before.
  16. What is SPS, where and how much? Cheers
  17. F-CON, then there is the added expense of getting someone over from japan to tune it.
  18. The quesiton must be asked - what sort of HP are you chasing to need a 044 and a lift pump? Wouldnt it be better to put the 044 in the tank? as these will flow enough fuel for over 600hp. Not nearly as noisy! and the added advantage, if the pump dies, you wont lean out and blow up your engine (pretty unlikey though I spose, but I am a bit paranoid:) )
  19. If you can get forgies for $800, could you put me down for a set please, please, please, PLEEAAASSEE. That is unbelievably cheap
  20. Lightened Flywheel: Rev210 has covered the benefits of a lightened flywheel pretty well in his "13 sec nearly stock GTST" threads, would be worth a look. Horsepower in a box sell them for about $395 for GTST, although not as light as the jap ones. D1 Garage (in Adelaide) has a second hand Jap one on the wall and want about $300 for it, so you can get them cheaper. Also if you go to a twin plate, most will have a lightened flywheel already. Have you done a search? Sorry, cant help with the oil cooler thing, but if you can get a cooler and a relocator for the oil filter for $680 bucks, tell me where please as this seems pretty cheap.
  21. Think you may be slightly off target there Roy, or I am having trouble understanding what you wrote. A/R ratio stands for Area to Radius ratio. It applies to both the compressor and turbine housing. Area = the area of the exhaust port of the housing, Radius = the radius of the housing I am about 95% certain that this is correct.
  22. Pretty sure that the hp ratings, whilst being conservative, are at 1bar as well. From all that I have read, hks turbos work most efficiently at around 1.5 bar, so you would get some exta there too.
  23. Hate to start guessing, but if you look at the evidence: VG30 turbos are a stock turbo (usually means somewhat conservative performance) and never really designed to be put through any sort of punishment. They are used by some as a cheap power upgrade, when mild increase in performance is wanted when compared to say the RB20 or 25 DET turbo. The HKS 2835R turbo is built by Garrett - these are a serious performance turbo designed to cut it with the best. The turbo is built to HKS sepcifications (and parts cannot be sold to anyone else) who is a serious performance company. Their turbos are used by alot of people who are chasing serious performance - if they were'nt up to scratch people wouldnt use them at the prices they charge (as a rule - there are always twits out there that will use anything with a name brand on it to try and improve performance even if it is just a stiker:D ) Sorry I cant help you too much with actual comparisons. I think Meggala has used a VG30 turbo on his RB20DET???? Might be worth dropping him a pm.
  24. INASNT, wiseco are about $1650 - but I think they come with rings (save another $200ish). Contact Kristof Kazmer [email protected] . Also, I believe Arias do some pistons also?
