Has a previous owner upgraded springs without doing the shocks? Heavy spring rates will give you a heavy shock over bumps, the shocks will stop it bouncing - this is what I have been told anyways - sorry if I am wrong. I am a bit intregued, as I have swaybars, coilovers and caster bushes done, and after being set up properly the car handles awesome. Steve

Using Manifold pressure is MAP, using airflow is MAF. I understand that the power fc uses load points, 20 x 20 of them, but uses rpm (load points) and cross references airflow, not air pressure - or it would not need the afm? I think the only way you run into trouble is when the afm has reached max flow voltage, when dyno tuning is compeleted off the o2 sensor that would be attached to the exhaust. If you dont run out of air flow resolution, or upgrade to a Z32 or Infiniti afm, and have airflow resolutioin, this wouldnt be a problem. Just my understanding, and I am really sorry if it is completely wrong and misleading. Steve

Hi Clint, thanks for that. Is the switch you use supplied with the fans, or do you buy them seperately? Are you using a shroud, if so, did you get it from repco as well? How do you find the cooling after they switch on, does the temp rise much above 90C? cheers Steve

Thanks for all your replies, think I might have to pay super cheap autos a visit - and keep the shroud! Anybody else had dramas with the A/C switch and thermo fan set up like blind_elk? Any tips Cheers Steve

Peak RPM - I really dont think boost pressure has much of a bearing on fuelling - what does is the air flow - this is the beauty of afms - they tell the computer how much air is coming in, and the computer delivers the fuel. This is a simplistic analogy as other factors are taken into a count, temp, revs etc. But I cannot see why upping the boost pressure would cause a problem, unless you run out of fuel pressure. I have done this on my car (tuned at 0.85bar, I gave it a squirt at 1 bar - amazing what a difference 0.15 bar makes!) and didnt notice a problem - or more accurately, the power fc didnt tell me of one. Thanks Rev210 and Jay95R33 - do you know who sells the twin themos with shrouds? jay95R33 - have you had any probs with the 16in fan?? Cheers Steve

Hey blindelk. thanks for the reply. I dont think the thermostat is faulty, as it brings it up to temp pretty quick, and on open road there isnt too much hassle. Just when I get in to traffic, going between sets of lights etc - usual inner city stuff. I do have a fmic, but looking at the radiator, it seems a little on the skinny side. The heat issue is the main prob, just thought it might have a power increase spinoff as a bonus. Steve

Hi, Can anybody recomend an electric fan - size, brand? I have been getting temps rising up to 94deg, when sitting in traffic on hot days, which I would like to get down a bit. I am going to upgrade to a VL radiator as well. Also, it wouldnt hurt to get rid of the stock fan - gain a bit of mid range torque. Any experiences, recommendations or warnings or general comments would be most welcome cheers Steve

nismoR34, I have only a partiton, and the noise is greatly reduced, only makes noise when you put your foot in, not much at all when just accellerating to keep up with traffic etc. Even when accellerating hard, the noise is nowhere near as load - I can even hear the stock turbo spooling up now (though this may have to do with the heat shielding being removed as well?) Not too sure about at the front of the car though, as there is a big hole for the CAI

Nah, just did a bit of research as I am looking at upgrading Steve

Nissan RB20 / 25 parts

Pics to [email protected] thanks. -
Hi Brendanf, You will be pleased to know Mark quoted an extra 95cfm flow per cylinder from these plenums on a flow bench. They do consturct a bell mouth inside the pleunum that fits against the runners to achieve this, as just bolting them straight up would not be doing any favours. And they all flow evenly, which is also pretty important. Mark states that they put in a bit of R&D to achieve this - which doesnt surprise me considering the results. All this for $895 fitted, and for an extra $200 will fit an 80mm throttle body. This has to be close to the bargain of the century - I'm getting one! Thanks for pointing Hills motorsport out - saved me hundreds

Must be pretty happy - thats not a bad time for a 300zx with $2000 of bolt ons.

got photos of the Trust exhaust manifold, what turbo mount does it use, also details and photos of the RB30 block etc? Cheers Steve -
When do u need a Fuel Pressure Regulator
Steve replied to B-Man's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Brendanf, Fuel pressure regs work by maintaining fuel pressure at above plenum pressure, any excess fuel is returned via the return line - if its running lean, your pump isnt keeping up. For example, a standard pressure regulator may keep fuel pressure at 36psi, with an adjustable, you can dial in the desired fuel pressure. A rising rate is a bit different, they adjust the pressure up as plenum pressure rises. for example if the pressure at 0lbs (in the plenum) is 36 psi (fuel rail), at 2 psi (plenum)it may be 39psi (fuel rail), at 4psi (plenum) it may be 44psi - etc. these are arbitary figures only for demonstration, not real figures. Hope you understand what I mean. If you do want to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, I believe Nismo do one which can be picked up new for $250. However in your instance, a decent fuel pump should be fine - a adjustable reg will only be of use to you if you are trying to get a bit more out of your injectors. Macka, megalla's site states R33 stockies at 370cc and whatsisname has gotten 257rwkw with them - so you still got a bit of room. -
1 piece Dump front pipe, to buy or not?
Steve replied to r32mspec's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
r32mspec, I have been told by an exhaust design specialist, that with the stock turbos, having a seperate wastegate pipe has no advantage over integrated. Its only when you start getting into larger aftermarked turbos it does help. I had a combined pipe made up, that incorporated the front pipe, and am very happy with the results - and at half the cost of using a seperate wastegate pipe, I'm happy. It cant be working too bad, becuase I dont have much spare in the way of injectors, and am at the limits of the stock turbo. Also, it is really, really hard to drive without coming on boost. -
Well eventually you run out of duty cycle, so either up rail pressure - which can only go so far, or bigger squirters.

Yeah, he is usually pretty busy, but I dont think he will mind if you ask for him. The more people tell him that they are from the same place, the more likely he is to treat us kind as a whole. Though from what I could tell, they were pretty customer oriented all round, not just Laurie.
-
Hmm, perhaps just getting bosch top feed ones new would be a better option
-
yeah, and perhaps mention Matt as well - he sent me, along with others. Would definately be worth mentioning that you heard about him on the skyline forum.

Got word back from Hillsmotorsport, pretty exy IMHO, want $1095 for them, flowed to 580cc at 45psi. Shall continue with local investigations Does anybody know which top feed high impredence injectors are out there that will fit an RB25 head?

This may be a little left field, but why not use your fingures to put the plugs in - what am I missing????

Pickled Icecream, no worries, just sounded to me like you were saying ONLY use electrical contact cleaner, and that people suggesting to do otherwise - should not. Sorry for the misunderstanding Steve
