Hi all, Well it appears Drift Australia is thinking about hosting a round here in WA. WASCC is behind, and from the looks, Boaty is guaging the interest in WA on the DA forums Please take a look http://driftaustralia.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=437 and lend your support (join, log in and post up), as this will absolutely go off cheers Steve

Here is a link to Trents thread on NS.com http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95172

Yes, he uses a wideband O2 sensor. Road tune is the BEST way to tune a FULL map, part throttle cruise and accel etc as well as WOT. A dyno, although it is excellent for WOT, can never perfectly emmulate the road which is where cars are driven.

Hi guys, I have a mate in Vic, his name is Trent Hewitson (autobarn on NS.com), who does road tunes on power fc and e-manage. Full map, not just WOT, and tuned for RESPONSE, ideal for drif, or he can just tune it how you want (eg, just outright power) He charges $350 per tune, and said he would agree to come over to WA to do some tuning if I could find 4 to 5 interested peoples. Anybody interested, please let me know. Steve

I wanted the hi/lo, so all good it is in my sil80, I just have a different front bar (stock) as I have trashed two aftermarket bars on the track. What is this extra protection wire? do I need to disconnect something?

Hahaha, ben, I have dual headlights, so with highs I have the HID (from the H4) and the other very yellow light up at the same time, I will post up a pic so you can see what I mean. edit, here it is

I think I will have a problem with the pits - now my high beams look yellow, not white

Lumpy (From Hyperdrive) has been around many years, and have always been very happy with his customer service and the work he does. If I have ever had a problem, he has ALWAYS had the time to help me. So too with Ken, always very helpful and will spend time with his customers which is not always the case with every workshop. Hell they even help out people who arent their customers with advice, and wont just blow someone off because they couldnt be gaffed or there is no money it for them. Hyperdrive have a very, very good reputation, and that doesnt happen if you dont deliver the goods. The only critisizm I have of them is they are NOR I personally think alot of problems start when people dont understand their cars or what is happening when work is done. I have done alot of work on my own cars and had alot of work done too. Cars can be a real bitch - you dont know what the previous owner did to it, how its been treated or what problems are just waiting to happen due to previous abuse (or perhaps your own abuse) - until they actually happen. Often, when you turn up the wick in one particular area - these other problems appear, as you find weak links in the chain. People then blame the workshop, because the problem wasnt there when they brought the car in, and that is just not fair. If you have ever spent alot of time and money modifying a car beyond manufacturers spec, you will know this is true. We are just lucky that Nissans as a whole dont have as many weak links as some cars do If you do want reliable, dont cut corners or ask for the cheapest job, just take the car to somewhere that knows what they are doing and ask for a good job - experience is something that is very undervalued IMO. The dissapointment of poor workmanship or a cheap job will last alot longer than the joy of a cheap price - its an old saying but still very true today. Then you just have to do the whole job again (and possibly more), and it ends up costing you alot more than just doing it right the first time, paying a bit extra for quality. Talking from experience on this one true bargains are few and far between. If you want true value in a job, get an experienced proffessional to do it, experience is priceless. cheap jobs give cheap results... my $0.11 (gst incl)

General rule of thumb, the better it flows the louder it will be. For $1200, I would recomend getting the best flowing cat back you can and fitting an Apex ECV. you can quiet the exhaust down any time you like, or go to full noise if need be and you want the power. For example, I am running an SR20 with manifold and full 3" exhaust all the way back, it has a resonator on the end, but thats it. Its a N1 type setup, so minimal bends (bends restrict flow even if they are mandrel bends). It is bloody loud. For daily driving I shut the ECV and it is quite inconspicuous. I have had traffic cops (bike cops and car) sit behind my car at the lights and not bat an eyelid. Works very well, and is also great if you are leaving your house early or late at night, you dont have to piss off the neighbours. Something to consdier. As for where to buy. Autobarn now do genuine Japanese cat back systems from blitz at prices pretty damn close to JDM. Can go wrong with something like the Nur Spec, just throw on an ECV and you will be able to have your cake and eat it.

both X-speed and Hyperdrive use the dataloggit.
-
The benefit to you is dataloggit allows access to more functions than the hand controller - similarly to apes excel software, much better for tuning than just using the hand controller.
-
This is AFAIK a factory measure to reduce NVH - gtrs, gtst, silvias etc all do it. The power fc is a piggy back design built on to a factory ecu and contained in the one box, so it should work fine - obviously. Do you have the pfc boost control kit with your power fc? if not, did you switch the option off on the hand controller in the ETC menu? If you dont have the boost control kit, and didnt switch it off with the hand controller, this may be your problem.

this is soooo true. Bite the bullet, pay for a good tune, otherwise you will never know what your car is capable of. If you are just after a cheap tune, I will do it for you, $100

Just transferred $50 H4, 5000k Thanks heaps bankkids - awesome job you are doing. Let me know when they are on the way and I will transfer the rest of the money BTW, it may be worth while seeing if you can get each headlight sent out direct to the purchaser - save cutoms making life difficult? not sure how it would work exactly?
-
Guys I'll vouch for Bankids 100% - you can trust him And if you dont believe me, well consider this - why would someone jeopardise a foreign study visa for the sake of $50? PS, I would love to be in on this, just dont have the $$ at the moment. A mate of mine in SA bought some HIDs and they were awesome - only he paid $800 for them, and that was wholesale...

Wonder if it would be too hard to track the car if someone got killed? or if the minister for police's wife was driving the car? it really does sound like a today tonight special, but then they would probably turn the story around to something along the lines of "car hoon gets just deserts" I hate today tonight If nothing else, you could try giving your local MP a phone call, that might stir things up a bit...
-
Did they say how much for the H4?
-
pretty sure thats only if the accident results in fatalities - weird I know

Tell your wife she's human, shock can cause anyone to go to lala land for a while It seems to be the norm, and has for some time. Some 15 odd years ago I came a gutsa off a bike at an intersection. Lights changed and everybody just drove around me on their merry way while I was on the road looking at stars trying to figure out where I was (I had concussion). Finally someone stopped, it was a lady - she got pissed off at my babbling, got back in her car and drove off! at least she stopped and could see that I wasnt bleeding to death or badly broken. Glad to hear the family are alright - good luck catching the fool.
