You don't have to pay anything - just make them fix it. I don't think a compression test would cost too much - but look on the bright side - if it is the rings get the mech to replace the pistons with forgies and get them to pay (most) of the labour - even better if the ringlands are shot and they will be paying part cost of the forgies and all the labour! mmmm forgies:) Then at the same time get the rods shot peened, and the crank balanced. Ah, its nice to dream eh?

GTS-t VSPEC, to carry on from skyzerr, you can use the fat ones at the front with skinny ones at the rear (promote squat), skinny ones at front with fat ones at rear (drifto madness), or just use the skinny ones for in between (hope I got them the right way). They come with fitting instructions anyway. If you are getting any work done to your car involving putting it on a hoist, just pop in and chuck em on while she is up, they are dead easy to do, just a bit more difficult if you have to stuff around with a car jack:)

Dude, that is a pretty huge dyno readout, 270 rwhp without any sort of management, your car must be a freak. With the pineapples, if it makes things clearer, the drift setup firms up the back end, the drag setup promotes squat, and the track setup is between the two from memory - hope this helps.

Thanks heaps for all your replies. I took the AFM off and it was black with god knows what (perhaps running a K&N pod didn't help as they are oiled). Hit it with some brake cleaner and presto - problem solved:D Raider - nice call and thanks again

Wish I could, Psiko, dim sum is when they bring around trays of steamed bits and pieces, and you can help your self. They have heaps of different flavour sensations and if you can make it I would highly recommend you do as you will want to go back for more - I had a go at this in Hong Kong, and apart from not knowing what I was sticking in my mouth (communication problems, and it added to the experience) it was a great feed. Just don't be watching your waist line as you sort of stuff yourself stupid, you get to try heaps of different foods - its all good

Nismo_Freak So far I have the following mods 3" custom dump and front, high flow cat, 3" N1 style cat back Hybrid FMIC with 3" pipwork Pod with cold air partition Power FC with Boost controller Turbosmart BOV 9 button clutch plus (irrelevant to this thread) various suspension, TT, boost guage, etc On a dyno dynamics dyno, made 260rwhp at 0.85 bar (254 at 0.7 bar) when the clutch started slipping and the power curve flat lined. Of further concern was that the AFM maxed out at 4500rpm and the curve 'fell over'. I am sure with the clutch now fixed and a Z32 afm on its way, that I will be able to get a little more, however from what I have read of other peoples experience, and my tuner's advice, a stock R33 turbo would not be able to support 300rwhp (about 408bhp it think). As for your fuel pump, not too sure you would need to replace it as my injectors were running at 77%, perhaps you could get away with just a fuel pressure regulator instead? Also of a bit of concern at the moment is traction. I am running 255/40/17 goodyear revspecs and although they are one of the better gripping tyres, power oversteer (which is alot of fun) and straight line traction off the mark are starting to become issues. Some food for thought anyways Steve EDIT: Just notice you are talking dynojet type dyno? I believe that the figure I quoted above would probably make it past the 300rwhp if it was done on a dynojet - from the comments I have read in other threads about the differences between dynodynamics and dynojet.

GTS-t VSPEC: Thanks again, the Z32 is costing $270Aus which isn't a bad price. The reason I don't want to go map is that it seems to raise some problems with fuel usage at idle and cruise and from what I heard takes a bit to set up properly, with the added advantage that upgrading the turbo doesn't require a complete retune. I may be way off the mark, but I was under the impression that MAF is alot more street friendly than MAP. The Power FC has an option for a Z32, so its a pretty easy install and then a dyno tune, and I believe not compatible with MAP? RAIDER: Cheers for the input, I'll give it a go and see what happens. Fingers crossed

Thanks heaps for your replies:) GTS-t VSPEC: I will be dyno tuning the car again soon, just waiting for the Z32 AFM. Can you recommend anyone in Perth? fatz: don't have a lightened flywheel YET - thanks for the tip though as this is a future planned mod. blind_elk: What and where is the AAC valve, and is there a specific way to clean it?

macka, it just so happens that I have a standard ecu not doing alot at the moment

Dude, I have met some lads that were making 640hp at the wheels on an RB26 with the same duration cams. Got it built by SST and were very happy with the overall performance (once it had been detuned a bit for driveability).

My car's idle has been pretty poor. Revs quite high when cold, and hunts continually when hot and when cold - even worse when the air con is switched on. It used to idle fine, this happened all of a sudden. I have a power fc fitted, but it seems to be working properly. I thought it might be the O2 sensor as it doesn't have a constant voltage output, but ruled that out as the hunting will cause the O2 to fluctuate??? The car runs fine at cruise, and under power. Has anyone had similar problems, or have any ideas as to what may be the cause. PLEASE HELP
-
How is he with power fc's. I have been have been having a bit of trouble with the idle since it has been fitted?
-
I can understand where you're coming from, I'd certainly think twice before taking these lads on...... but it really sucks that even the law advise people to tread carefully, if they can't protect innocent citizens who will???
-
The best way IMHO would be to go to a suspension specialist. Like so many things on a car, it is quite often finding someone who specialises.

It always amazes me that some people think not only that they own the road, but that they are infallable and never make mistakes on the road - everyone makes mistakes. What's worse is that dicks like the one you ran into don't seem to realise what f'heads they are. Had some dude road rage me and I didn't pull the finger or abuse him, just smiled caringly at him. I don't recommend this as I probably was taking my life into my own hand as he got so wild he was drooling and spitting as he yelled - then I couldn't help myself - I burst out laughing at this clown, at this point perhaps the penny dropped cause he put his head down and drove off sedately. I think you're right Gradenko - just ignore them is safest, but please report this dick, he's bloody asking for it trashing your car.

Perhaps god too, loves skylines:D

Boosted, I got a high flow cat fitted for $250, alternately, exhaust dynamics do a high flow - high flow (flows about 70% better than standard high flow) which is custom built - not sure about the price. It sounds like you have been really lucky so far - get a lotto and a cat before it runs out:)

Had some really scary incidents on TAs in the wet. this was driving a GT falcon auto, not highly modded, just cam and a tune. The problem was going around 90 degree corners esp when braking into traffic. I had to idle the car into the traffic and when pointing in the right direction gently speed up. Hooked up great in the dry though.

$400Aus just for the front. It may be worth throwing a PM at dbasteve (i think that's his nick). He will be able to give you a better idea what products they have to suit your needs as he works in their R&D section I think.
-
I think you can pick up a set of rotors (2) from DBA, slotted from about $400AUS. But you can pay alot more depending on what sort of application you are after. Absolutely no idea about calipers. Steve
-
My sympathies dude, I'd be pretty disheartened. Just doesn't seem to add up does it?
-
Perhaps you should think about giving someone else a go at the tune? From what whatsisname has said he doesn't seem to be having the hassels that you have. I think it is also possible to set the AF ratios for idle and cruise when running from MAP, as this has a huge effect economy, without doing this your car will run rich as, and even with iridiums, once they are fouled, they wont do the job well. Did your tuner tell you what he set the AF ratios for when you're not on boost?
-
So the 200 ish is this due to microtech using MAP? I still get 10L/100km in peak hour traffic using a PFC - Sorry to be pursuing the clutch thing, but the first sign I had that the clutch was going was when I fitted the PFC and it just seemed to lack the sudden surge when the turbo went on boost - then when the FMIC went in the bloody thing fried on the way to the dyno. Is the car still making boost where it was before the tune? With a dump you would expect it to come on pretty early - with the dump on mine done boost comes on pretty quickly after about 2500rpm. Sorry if I'm not helping much here, just throwing in ideas
