  1. G0DF4Th3R I was just trying to put the wind up you about loaning your car - maybe nextime
  2. Dude this sounds like a great idea, "PVA's definitive guide to police harrassment" - bring it on
  3. Hmm, undue and excessive noise for a chirp, was it just a chirp, 'cause if it was that really sucks the big ones. Next thing you know, if you lock up your wheels when braking to avoid an accident (eg a pedestrian, or small fluffy animal) they will get you for it as well, "Yes well done avoiding that young child chasing that ball, now here, cop this - next time don't brake so hard" - wouldn't put it past some of the idiots out there. S13, I hope you have made a formal complaint, enough people make complaints about these #$%k heads and if nothing else it may make life harder for them - can only wish Good luck in court Steve
  4. Are you running a SAF-C or similar? as your AFR's dont look too bad. The only thing I could suggest is start thinking about an aftermarket ECU and maybe a good bleed valve or better still an EBC. 200-220k's per tank? Who spends alot of time on boost then? Edit: you might want to start thinking about a new clutch too
  5. What sort of money were you looking for?
  6. 2rismo, do you know what sort of internal work had been done, and how reliable it was - just wondering as I have heard so many conflicts on what the stock internals can handle (most seem to point to the pistons in the first intance as the weak link). The main thing I am interested in is proven reliable horsepower Thanks for any help Steve
  7. the old strut brace debate, let me add my 2c. I had a good quality front strut brace fitted with stock springs and shocks that were in good condition and it did make quite a noticable difference to handling when the car was pushed - most noticably the body roll, much more than I would have thought (this was with stock suspension, not lowered at all). Also I have since had the car lowered and upgraded shocks - I am not sure if the difference would have been as noticable if the car was lowered first as this changes the centre of gravity I have had the selbies (whiteline) swaybars fitted and they are great. Cost about $220 each from memory?
  8. 1BBI-355, I think I saw that one putting down some real nice doughies at the carpark outside bunnings on leach highway? did anyone else see that?????
  9. Good work PVA, these two cops certainly did act like dicks, perhaps they might relax next time instead of acting like they can do whatever they please. Good to see the judge did the right thing. Questions: Was it worth it? where do you get permits? What requires permits?
  10. I live in Willetton, the pod is a K&N. If you want to call around is cool, just drop me an e-mail or better still a pm, and I will reply with an address and phone number. Unfortunately I will not be going to the cruise although I wish I was. Anyone who wants a copy is most welcome
  11. Dude, take a real close look at the grill, it looks a bit strange to me, not like a standard GTR one. I went and had a look at it, it has large sections in the middle and at he side in front of the mesh that just don't quite look rite to me. The workmanship however seemed OK, just a matter of taste I guess. Edit, by the way the kit that I looked at was fitted, and seemed like a pretty good fit, no noticable problems
  12. It would be worth putting in a drain plug, unless you like the idea of ripping it off at service time and tipping it upside down to empty it:)
  13. Mr Hyundai, The partition sits just behind the pod and fits in where the suspension tower meets the inner guard, on the other side it goes around the outside of the little black emissions canister. I got the materials from clark rubber, just metal backed foam and I also got some 1.5 inch thick soft rubber tubing used as a heat shield for pipes, slit it down the middle and slot it across the top of the partition to seal with the bonnet. Not sure what the tubing's real name is but at work I have heard it reffered to as armourflex. It must seal pretty well as the induction noise from the pod is reduced a fair bit, but it still growls when you poke the loud pedal:D Adam33, sorry dude, I'm not much of a 'tech drawer', but I might copy it onto paper and post it to you if you want. Youll just need to trace it onto card first (to check it fits and maybe modify) before cutting. If you dont want/cant catch up to copy it, just drop me your details at dbf01@iprimus.com.au
  14. Just made a cold air partition for the 'line, much better throtle response when the engine is warm, especially bottom end off boost - in fact, I cant notice much difference from when I start up to when I have been sitting in peak traffic for 1/2 hour. Well worth the effort. The reason I was starting this thread is that I now have a template for a cold air partition (took about 1.5 - 2 hours till I was happy) and if anyone is interested to copy it, please let me know as the template is the hardest part. My template is designed around a FMIC, but it wouldn't be hard to modify for a stock one. I also have some metal backed foam left over - enough for one partition if anyone is interested, let me know, although the cost of the foam is very cheap, about $10 for half a lineal metre
  15. Yes there is usually stuff inside it, they are not hard to make, just stuff it full of wire wool scourer, the course type made from stainless (sell from woolies 3 for a few bucks) are 'supposed' to be the best, although if its in an oil catch can, I wouldnt think any type of steel wool will rust? Anyone confirm this????
  16. The catch can also prevents your coola getting coated in oil. I recently got a FMIC and the old one had a black residue on the inlet side:( Which reduces efficiency of the coola. This was running only about 9psi boost. As adam says, on higher boost the problem is worse. A catch can will trap the residue (hopefully) before recirculating the gasses through the induction system. A breather will just allow the gasses to vent to atmo, which I believe is illegal (emissions), please correct me if I am wrong
  17. Yes they do get negative attention - FROM GRADENKO ! j/k (sorry Gradenko, I just couldn't resist:D )
  18. Boostzor Sorry dude, just thought that whoever the guy was that owned the car you put the link up to was either an example of a drug child (no offence if any are reading this), chronic inbreeding (once again - not something someone does by choice), or an argument for compulsory sterilisation - personally I favour the acid theory. Please don't stop this thread - I really enjoy reading it, and keep up the ricey photos - perhaps we should get a copy of the Ronald Macdonald Toyota in here too? Here is a thought, start a sticky thread with an invitation to post any example of rice - should be a good way to releive some stress when things get too much, just log on and unwind. What ya reckon?
  19. Hmmm, perhaps the testing of hallucinogenic drugs went further than a few unsuspecting servicemen in the US after WW2. I think this is proof of why pregnant women should not be allowed to overindulge in acid
  20. Got some Ohlins. They are excellent, not teeth shattering, kidney jarring ride, they are a very street friendly but still go well when pushed - sort of an in between stock and track set up. Also they are rebuildable if they die - but I think most performance shocks are
  21. GTS-4OrCeD, thanks for that dude - gotta be one of the funniest things I have seen for a while
  22. Having said all the above, I am sure there are quite a few people out there that would have good reason to be pissed off with the behaviour of certain coppers out there - there are some real dicks about in a uniform, alot of times when the criminal element gets the upper hand it isn't he fault of the police force in general
  23. Puckish, I am definately not a cop, you wouldn't get me doing that job for quids, there are much easier ways of making a living than copping abuse of dick heads all day every day. The only reason I say this is because I have had a couple of mates that were cops and guess what they were just average people but over a period of time they turned into very sinical ones - busting people, getting abused, spat on, rocks bottle etc thrown at them - they get to see the real crap that exists out there. And low and behold when they get the multiple offending underage ethnically diverse misunderstood gentleman or lady into court - the magistrate says 'mmm, this is only your 10th offence, you deserve another chance, we want to rehabilitate you - take a community order and if its too hard to fulfill, dont worry we wont really care' I have also been on the wrong side of the law when I was 17, 18 and 19 - related to recreational smoking of the wrong type and the cops that busted me were almost appologetic, and I always got a lift home. I had a car stolen by an underage multiple offending ethnically diverse member of the community, the cop even told me how sorry he was that there wasn't much that the legal system was going to do 'just another warning' if I remember correctly. Also I work away, sometimes for months, and not long ago my wife was being stalked by a guy (later found to be on warants in 3 states for multiple counts of rape and home invasion) - the cops were awesome, gave my wife counselling, and when this dick did show his hand, they were on the scene in minutes R33 CAM: it really sucks that your ride got boosted - I understand where you are coming from, its happened to me only I wasn't insured (a lesson learnt there). There are good cops and there are some that should have moved on years ago, or even never got onto the street in the first place (usually the young ones- no discresion). Any bad experience will stay in your memory sooner than a good one but this place would be unbearable if there weren't cops at all Sorry for going on, just pushed the wrong button I 'spose, just my 0.02 worth (mmm, perhaps even got out 0.04:p )
  24. inark: Pineapple rings are used for one of 3 different applications. They can be set up for drag (increased rear squat on launch), drift (opposite of drag) or general performance (in between). They also help reduce axle tramp. Zahos: Sorry I didn't mention this before, whiteline also do 'handling' kits - buy as a kit and save a few bucks - may be worth a look.
  25. have a look on the whiteline suspension website, they have different options and prices - also they have authorised dealer locations
