  1. Bushes sit between moving metal parts. They can help absorb shock as well as the prevention of wearing of metal parts. Different bushes have different hardness - usually stock ones are on the soft side to give driver comfort and realistically aren't designed for agressive driving. Upgrading to poly bushes or similar can make a noticeable difference to the firmness of handling and IMHO are a worthwhile upgrade. Steve
  2. Definately interested dude, the manual with mine was a pretty shitty photo copy, that didn't cover much info
  3. I don't think it is the police force so much as the farked up system that they work for. Who would like the idea of seeing decent people getting screwed over by scum? They are probably just as pissed as the next bloke (except the poor bugger having his ride boosted), however they have to deal with these types of dicks all day long. Doesn't help you much R33_CAM, sounds like you are really getting the short end. Seems a bit bizzare though that if someone steals your car, you loose your no claim bonus, 'cause if you only have 3rd party fire and theft there is no 'no claim bonus' and you are still covered for replacement or damage as a result of theft. Ultimately, the current legal system which seems to look after the minority and screw the average bloke - sucks
  4. Was told by the shop that fitted mine that they are rated to 650bhp, with a 2 PSI pressure drop. From a driving perspective, its all good (not real techo, purely a seat of the pants assessment:D )
  5. On mine, the handbrake must be on otherwise the engine switches off, then the immobiliser automaticall arms
  6. Although it sucks, I can sort of understand where they come from - on ounce of prevention etc. If you're not doing anything wrong generally they will sus this out pretty quickly and no real harm done. I 'spose it does help keep the dick heads under control or at least away from popular areas. It is sometimes worth thinking about what it would be like if any fool could roll up to a popular place and carry on like a total f*%khead - wouldn't make for a very pleasant place. It can still give you the shits though
  7. paulgts-t Have just got a 9 button ceramic-ferride clutch and 2500lb pressure plate done - bites nice, clamps nice and only cost $800 fitted (with a new thrust bearing:D ) Bites a little quicker than stock but still very driveable
  8. If you have any plans of improving your exhaust system - which most people do - then you should think about the cat. Having said that, $250 is what I paid for mine when I had the rest done so maybe see if he is open to offers and save a few quid, might be worth a try. If he is fitting a high flow instead of the standard, he would be saving on the price of the standard so you may as well save some extra too:)
  9. Bloody emission laws - seems they should spend more time looking at cars/trucks that belch smoke like a mofo:( Thanks for clearing that up guys
  10. So what exactly makes them illegal - it can't be the noise as the only regulations on noise are exhaust (that I know of)- truck air brakes make more noise than a BOV and car dealers can get imports complied and registered with one fitted????
  11. Oops, bloody browser back arrow, sorry for the double post
  12. R33 turbos are built by hitachi I think, they have a t3 flange with internals about the size of a t28 but are neither t28 or t3. I have also heard that the compressor wheels on R34 turbos are acutally nylon! This info is from letter written by HPI in response to similar questions ask as you have, and the response was posted on this forum somewhere, or it might have been SDU?
  13. Congrats on the car. If you want economy - stay off boost. this is alot easier said than done though:) As for your stalling with atmo bov, I have one and I dont have any troubles. If it is adjustable, it may just be a case of adjusting the thing a little, if not you may need to change it over. If you want to do this on the cheap, see if you can source a factory one from a performance tuning shop - they probably wont charge you much as mostly when people get aftermarket ones the shop will bin the factory one. I can recommend a turbosmart type 2, I have one and it is excellent - no stalling and virtually no backfiring with stock ECU. The stock dump pipes are cast iron and the stock front pipe is too I think?? and have heat shield on them, if yours is mandrel bent you can be pretty sure its aftermarket - and a pretty good mod for free.
  14. You may want to think about doing the AFM at the same time as a computer or SAFC - my AFM ran out of resolution at about 4500rpm with a stock turbo.
  15. 25GTT, do the clutch now!!!! I just got caught out and am not impressed - could only get 260rwhp before the power curve flat lined due to cutch just not being able to hold on - on the dyno - on the road is a completely different story, can't make boost without the clutch smoking like a mofo. Most annoying. Also the AFM maxed out at 4500rpm, so that will have to be replaced aswell, and the power curve falls over at 4500 until 260hp then it just flatlines:( Must stop typing starting to depress myself
  16. nizmokid, I just got a PFC for the same reasons as Silver-Arrowz. They have been able to get some pretty huge HP engines to run nicely on these things - but I suppose it is personal choice and to some degree your tuner's choice. As for second hand buying, got mine from an import dealer as they didnn't like selling them with the cars that they get in as they have to offer waranty with the vehicles and some people just cant help themselves when they get hold of a PFC handcontroller - cut a long story short, PFC and Handcontroller and boost solenoid - $1800 fitted. Just may be worth checking with the local imprt dealers first
  17. white R33, hope I'm not sticking my nose in where it isn't needed, but I saw a photo of a white BMW that had a blue pearl clearcoat on it and it looked awesome - really subltle but still look twice material. Might be a bit easier than going the full colour change and give you a bit of a unique look, pretty sure you can custom just about any colour of pearl, or even a flip type eg, goes from blue on one angle to red on another - nothing too over the top, just a nice subtle finish - just a thought Steve
  18. Not sure, but also been told that the height can be measured from the centre of the wheel to the guard and it should be no less than 350mm????
  19. R33_Cam, just a thought, but if you know the exact wheel you want, it may be worth giving one or two of the large wheel companies over east a call and see what they can offer - I have heard of some good results from doing this - there was one in the latest fast fours that said they deliver australia wide and are open 7 days - sorry starting to digress. Also another option - give beaurepairs in Rockingham a call, ask to speek to darren, he saved me hundreds on a really nice set of wheels Steve
  20. Nice result Wassabi, must say I'm jealous as I am chasing 300 at the moment - just sort of a bit low on cash for a while, and ditto to 25GTT's request for a list of mods:D
  21. I am not agreeing with irresponsible behavior in any way - having said that, with all the attention being thrown at irresponsible drivers, street racers, hoons doing demos in car parks etc, wouldn't it be great if some govt land could be put aside for a drift track or even a suitable signed area out of the way where people could totally destroy perfectly good rubber if they so wished? Who knows how many dollars - taxpayers money - would be saved in not having to crack down on irresposible behaviour? There certianly seems to be a fair bit of public works money around when it suits them EDIT: They could even charge a few bucks for a nights entertainment and make a quid - I'm sure the motorplex isnt the only place people would pay money to use
  22. 34GTt, Anyone in particular you spoke to at CGU? I tried them and got a flat 'we dont insure inports'. Just need to find someone before this RAC policy expires:( Cheers

R34 Just told Darren (I think that's his name) what I was after and what my $ limit was - he did all the work, shopped around and got these sent in from east. The guy really went out of his way to help, took my phone number, rang me back a couple of days later with the good news. Highly recommend the guys, couldn't be more helpful. Don't know if it will help, but if you are in the market for rubber tell him you got his name from me - it cant hurt as I mentioned that I gave him a plug on the forum Steve
  24. Welcome dude, Getting to 200 isnt a huge ask, but will probably cost you a few bucks. Depends on whether you go second hand gear or new, either way keep your eyes open, ask around and be patient and you could save some decent dollars. A good place to start is with the forums, as they have the for sale section - also keep an eye on the popular mags as sometimes businesses will pump out some really good specials. Lastly, do a bit of research before spending your dollars and you'll be buying the right peice of kit at the right price. For 200rwkw, a suggestion would be: exhaust system Pod Filter Front Mount Intercooler Electronic Boost controller or a bleed valve, and Super Air Flow Converter (SAFC) or similar Also don't look over your clutch and suspension, with extra power you will need to get it to the ground:) This should get you close to 200 or maybe a bit over I think, what do the rest of you guys recon? Steve
