Only 9 places left peoples

I would love to take your 17s off you :P cheers

dude, I hear you, and it sucks. The problem in your case is the polliticians who seem to think it is more important raising revenue from cars going 5kph over the limit, instead of allocating more resources to fighting real crime. As I said before, I hope things dont end up like in SA, where if your car/house/business is broken into, and the damage is under $10,000 - they dont even investigate - you just go in to the station, fill in a report to get a report number so you can claim on insurance. Its a farked up place in ways.

Yes I did, was an attempt at humour

pics, pics - lets see pics

Didnt you used to be in SA? think I remember seeing you on the boards from time to time over there? Anyway, the first place I would be checking, if you havent already,is C-Red. Not sure of any other places, but if you get really stuck you could try the likes of D1 Garage over there. R33 manual conversion (the boxes esp) are in quite high demand, thus they can be difficult to track down. good luck.

No fitting services AFAIK

Some of the comments here are pretty funny. what is wrong with a cop coming on to a forum and telling the guys to tone it down or you may find it will bite you? Its a pretty decent thing to do. I miss the days when you would get a warning if you were being a d1ck head, or a clip around the ear and sent on your way - MUCH better that way than just being sent to the cleaners. When you post on a public forum, you are in the public eye - wowsers will bitch to the police, or ACA about the outrageous behaviour of people on the forums. If the police get a complaint (say a 13 yo is surfing, mum see's what he is reading and rings up the cops - not unreasonable to expect), they must follow it up. Now, if the cop just asks the guys to tone it down, they wont get the same complaints happening, so dont have to feild the calls from little timmy's mum, etc therefore resources are being preserved. If a 30 second post on a forum could save fielding one telepone call a week from irate public, then that is a good use of resources. Officer Holland could be seen to be one of the good guys, and having access to a cop who is willing to go on line is a good thing - it will help sort out alot of the mis-information around on points of law. Being informed isnt a bad thing at all. Having said that, with all the fall out and slagging the guy off, if I were in his shoes, I doubt I would try and give people a heads up again And one last thought for those who think its a free country and you should be able to post what ever you like, have a think about the negative press the anti-social behaviour being preached in some religious teachings is receiving at the moment? Is it legal to encourage or brag about anti-social or negative behaviour? who knows, but you can bet that if the likes of ACA started reading such garbage, they would be the first to do a tv program on it, link the forums to 'hoon behaviour' and possibly try to have them shut down. Its something the tossers would do.

Who are the mods on this forum? I would like to get this stickied if possible

Thanks Gavin PS13t, dont worry about it, you wont be on your own there. I have been to practice days where there were alot of people who had never tried drifting nor been on a track before - its all good (remembering that everybody starts at the beginning) That is what they are there for. If you have never been on a track - you will love it. No curbs, no telephone poles, no cars coming at you, no police, just do your thing and have fun - at your own level. If anybody has doubts because they have never tried this before DONT. If you never give it a go, you will never find out what its all about. EVERYBODY has a first time, I have only been on a track a few times, it definately takes me a while to get warmed up But hey, once its in your bloody, you cant let go.

have a think about this guys, You have to scrape up the remains of men, women and children for a living (my brother in law has had to do this, it had a devestating effect on him) You here bragging by d1ckheads about their exploits in their sick rides. Alot of these people come together on a forum and brag their little hearts out. Now we all know that alot of the talk on these forums is just talk, but not all of it - and there are those that read it and think its pretty cool (admittedly, anyone who thinks its cool is probably a 17yo with a old POS) they then emulate the stories resulting in more innocent people that do get killed. My brother in law once told me, that he as a cop, feels he is doing his job if he 'prevents any dickhead from upsetting or hurting those around just trying to have a good time.' Writing war stories on a forum, although not illegal (as its just that, writing a story) will influence the way people who are associated with the forum are perceived. We could end up with a situation in Perth where just publishing a picture of your car, and it looks modified, will result in it being brought in for a full inspection - just as they do over east (SA), or, could result in standard instructinos to 'defect anything if you are not sure about whether its been modified or not' just as they do in SA. We have it pretty damn good over here, lets try our best, as car enthusiasts, to keep it that way be acting responsibly whenever we are on public display, that includes forums. Hoon laws were introduced because of the public exposure of a minority of road users, and sensationalist media exposure of them - so dont think that stories dont or wont influence the police or any other members of the community. god I rant on , as already mentioned, forums like SAU are very well moderated, and the d1ckheads normally dont waste their (and our) time here.

Absofarkinlutely please do - with TV, sponsorship should be a walk in the park, thanks Paul

Her32, definately see if the guys want to do a demo - I was personally thinking of dedicating a bit of track time to them so they can practice for the comp 30 sept at barbegallo raceway. Would like to touch base with you on this if its ok, just to sort out finer detail of running with instructors - pm sent cheers

I think the big thing that would help is some sponsorship and media exposure for the big day end of September that C-Red are organising. The success or failure of the even will have a huge impact on whether or not the like so Barbegallo raceway will embrace the sport and get behind it. When I was in SA, James Vahoumis had connections through Signal that brought TOYO onto the scene - this was a turning point, they now sponsor comps in the west, as well as drivers. Most of the major tyre companies are following suit now. Is there anything that you think might be able to help along those lines? exposure and sponsorship is the key IMHO.

Ok, just raing them up: there is no charge for spectators (as this is a club type event) Also, for one off events, they allow you on the track without a fire extinguisher - they do prefer if you do regular events to have one though (noting the flag marshals will have fire extinguishers)

Sorry I didnt answer earlier Maps of location I dont know if you have to pay to spectate, I will find out. Yes, you do need to bring your own car, it will be scrutineered to make sure its safe (no oil leaks, battery secure, no loose aritcles) you will also need an ADR complient helmet (they check for the sticker) Then you just take your car on the track and enjoy If you are having troubles, there will be plenty of people around to help you out with tips etc. Before taking your car on the track, I would recommend you do plugs oil and filter and give it a thorough check over, good tyres (and spares if it is a dry day), basic tools like a jack and wheel changing gear. Its also not a bad idea to bring a few extras like spare brake fluid, oil, coolant - but this isnt totally necessary. I always take a good assortment of tools, well most of the common ones like sockets, spanners, pliers, cable ties, 100m/hr tape, rags, window cleaner etc hope that helps

Yeah, happens occasionally, I am an absolute novice, but I have been on the track with pretty much all of the top drifters in SA and never had a problem. (either with them running into me or vice versa) With the newer guys, or the absolute beginners, its pretty easy to just allow a little more space before the next person goes and not have any dramas. I will make sure that I liaze well with the marshals, so they know to give the beginners (like myself) a bit more room than the more experienced guys. It will happen that people will catch up, but that is unavoidable - this is the best way to minimise the problems and get maximum quality track time. Doing the runs this way, you have several benefits. Your car wont overheat, You have less to worry about behind you You will have heaps of good runs without getting stopped every second corner because the guy in front has spun out. It works really, really well.
-
No experience needed at all to marshal it would be a big help if you could lend a hand either way, all spectators welcome (of course) the more the merrier. Bring beers and stay overnight if need be.
-
I got told today (thus the post today) that the spot is OURS! we may beat the other guys in at this rate
-
Cost will be approximately $70 per person - as mentioned before, it may rise by a few dollars if the cost of the track goes up.
-
Will post up estimate costs (Collie cant confirm exact track hire yet) later tonight, should be well under $100 MrSnrub, All cars, I own an S13!

I have started a new thread for a drift day I am organising, post up your interest here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=82886

There are a few spots left for the drift comp at wanneroo 30 sept, they will be having a practice this friday, 5 hours on the track for only $40! then the comp itself, $100. So all in all, 2 track days for $140 - not bad at all. If you are intested, give Benara Rd Autos a call on 0414 990 254 to reserve a spot, but be quick or you will miss out.
