The beauty of trust turbos is that they come on boost quickly, unlike 'old school' bush bearing turbos. Added to the quick spool is that they work better at high boost, in that they dont wear as quickly as BB turbos. Most HKS BB turbos are recommended by HKS to run between only 0.9 and 1.1 bar according to the goodsmaster catalogue. They do of course work well at alot higher boost, but the longevity is effected (according to a Jap mechanic I had a chat with once) EDIT: 2xGTRS on GTR = LAG, big time.

Air con temp sensor. cut the wires and your climate control wont work properly. -
I know they arent GTSS turbos, but autobarn is selling GTR Trust turbo kits for under $5K If you want to head in this direction, I have a friend that works for them at melbourne that could hook you up.

turn your boost down until you have done your injectors. The only advice I can suggest with regards to boost is as per my post earlier in this thread.

This time ACA were blaming modified cars for Antisocial Behaviour
Steve replied to Drkside's topic in Western Australia
Nothing happens? read the fine print. When I was a young fella, like so many others, we used to get behind the wheel of a car and see what we could do before we broke them. This usually entailed going to some out of the way industrial area, or even on dirt tracks and practicing burnouts, getting side ways etc. But nobody I knew would even think about doing it in a built up area or where there was traffic. It was a case of a time and place for everything. Those that did decide to show off where people were around usually got stamped on pretty hard and pretty quick by the police - if not, by irate members of the public that didnt have a problem giving someone a clip around the ear for being a dickhead. Those same laws are still in place today. Creating excessive noise, culpable driving, dangerous driving - the list goes on. This means that if someone was to be doing stupid things in inappropriate places, they could easily loose their liscence, cop huge fines and/or go to prison. Those laws still exist. Where they didnt really cut it is if someone was out of built up areas, where there was no other traffic on the roads. It was alot harder to loose your liscence and go to gaol if you restricted your hormone surges to a place that was only going to endanger yourself. It was/is a good system, if people dont respect others, they get slammed hard - otherwise they get a slap on the wrist. This whole car confiscation came from NZ, where it was implemented to deal with road rage - NOT car hoons. The laws to deal with car hoons already exist, and if enforced work well. Some little no life politician, who knows nothing of the current road laws that have existed for a long time, decided to push through a new 'improved' version of NZ's new law. This results in a huge waste of time, effort and taxpayers dollars, reinventing the wheel so they can show the world what a wonderful job they are doing. It would have been alot better if the police just started enforcing the current regulations that already exist, instead of this abomination that has no room for measure of degree or discretion. In a society where people get good behaviour bonds for such things as theft, assault, even rape - where their actions are selfish and maliscious, why should people doing what they have done since cars were invented, be punished so harshly? You may say take the car off them, but loosing a 20 or 30 thousand dollar car, for something like doing a burnout or chirping your wheels (yes, you can loose your car for chirping your wheels) is ludicris in the face of such lenient sentences for other more severe crimes. I had my car stolen a few years back, the guys who did it were repeat offenders. The police caught them, and offered their appologies that the low lifes that stole and damaged my car were going to get a slap on the wrist, they said probably a community based order that they just wouldnt complete anyway. So, basically if you want to hoon, Steal someone elses car, and do it in that, cut sick, run it into gutters, and destroy the tyres and rims when you finished - may as well pinch the head deck while you are there (after all, if you get caught, the head deck was there when you left the car, so someone else must have done it). You get a suspended sentance of some lame community based order. OR, you could take your own car out, do a burnout (only damaging your own tyres which you will pay for) and loose the car which most probably cost you thousands of dollars. Theres another thought, do a burnout in an expensive, well built car and it will cost you alot more than if you do it in a $500 POS. Fair isnt it. What is the message we are putting out to society as a whole, drink driving, theft, damage to property, assault, even rape in some instances is not as bad as doing a burnout (but only if its in your own car - somebody elses is ok). That is bloody wrong. The whole principal is just so farked up, and poorly though out. /rant, sorry but this whole 'hoon' thing, with the new associated laws really, really shits me -
Sorry I dont have a spare EBC lying around Another thing you can do is replace the wastegate actuator with an R32 one - good for a couple of extra pounds early in the piece. If you can find one that is. You never know what you get from Japan, its not uncommon for cars to be stocked out before selling. My S13 came with all the stock bits, including 9 heat range iridium plugs and some nice under car drift scars. Also little tell tale signs like new bolts in the rear camber arms. Nothing else unfortuneately, just a couple of littel give away signs of a 'history'. Anyway, I do hope one day you try a little experimentation.

starts at 12psi, and drops to 10 - I dont understand how that is steady?
-
I DEFINATELY made more power with 12 psi compared to 10 psi (186rwkw vs 203rwkw) Regardless, that turbo is a freak, it should be pushed to its limits in the name of research! wouldnt surprise me one little bit if there had been a bit of highflowing going on by a previous owner. (edit: still doesnt explain the injector crazyness happening though) Beside that, and EBC should bring boost on quicker than just a bleed, it will generally hold boost better too, depending on which type it is eg, with the AVCR you can set the duty cycle at different rpm. Either way - DO IT, you know you want to. as do we

Petrol Prices - don't know if you take this seriously
Steve replied to JXL's topic in Western Australia
Why do OPEC restrict supply? to drive up the cost of oil and increase their profit. They do this because they can. Basic economics, supply and demand v's maximum return. If you can sell something for 1 dollar more, and the resultant loss in sales means you are still making more money than for selling cheaper - you do it. Every large business does it, from supermarkets, to clothes manufacturers to motor cars to Banks. And petrol, whilst you pay more now in actual dollar figures, during the first gulf conflict the price of petrol adjusted to current value of the dollar would be alot higher. But for how long is anybodies guess. -

Another thing to consider, punishment fitting the crime. If you fire a weapon in public, you get in trouble, if its near alot of poeple, more trouble, and if someone dies as a result - stand from under. Now, burnout in car park, chirp wheels in public, v's drifting in built up area - all the same punishment. Its just not bloody right. -

yeah, you loose your liscence for a while - how does that compare to loosing a car that is worth 10s of thousands of dollars? And you can still drive if you get brethoed and pass a reading in excess of 0.05. Under 0.08 and you get a slap on the wrist. If you think its fair to loose your car for doing a burnout, have a think about what the repocussions are if you are drink driving. A guy I worked with killed a father of 2. He got 8 months prison. It was his third offence. People drink driving poses a far GREATER risk to society than someone doing a burnout in a carpark. Its a shame you cant see that. Another thing, if you were to drive at 160kph in a 60 zone you would go to court and loose your liscence for a while, but chirp your wheels and you loose your car. If you think that is fair, I just hope you never end up making laws in this world. The legal system should dispense justice. This whole car hoon car confiscation thing is just a feed of crap dreemed up by a bunch of ignorant tea totalling has beens, who have nothing better to do with their time. It is a knee jerk reaction to antisocial behaviour and a gross OVER reaction. The laws have been in place for some time to deal with dickheads on the road - its just a shame that the courts dont see fit to give appropriate punishments. The media are jumping on the car hoon hysteria, feeding it and feeding off it all for the sake of sensationalist reporting to win viewers. Just remeber if you drive a modified car, or an import, or even a commodore that has a nice set of wheels - you too are probably being perceived as a potential hoon because of bullshit like what ACA spews out. But hey, its your right to jump on the hysteria bandwagon. Enjoy your ride. I agree completely with the baton statement - they could sell tickets to that one. If they wanted to sort people like that out, they would need to arrest people for being dickheads. Now that is a law I would support. -
Not sure about tomei, but if you check the greenline site, I believe it give detail of CR I had a HKS 1.6mm, gave a 8.6:1 CR. I did this because I was advised by a jap that it was best when pushing the stock internal RB to around 300rwkw and a bit beyond. According to him (and other sources) it is not uncommon to make 300+ with stock internals in Japan as long as you decompress. JMS also did this with their GTSt, and it lasted well even with Denzo thrashing it Also, this jap guy recommended keeping boost around 1.2bar for hard thrashing on the track, but said it was ok to run 1.7+ for drag or dyno, just not prolonged caining. (tune permitting of course ) make of it what you will, but my engine has survived without rebuild.

Every burnout is doing damage to the environment and causes the death of thousands of dolphins annually. The only way to stop them is take the cars off them. But if you drink drive, expect to keep your car cos it aint that bad really now is it, at least you didnt do a burnout. Poor dolphins. Man I am tired -

Yep, andrew racing V, drill sounds like the go. I tried autosol paste, but bloody hell, how many cramps do you need before you give it up as a bad idea I jacked up the rear wheels and ran the car in second, even then it didnt really work well. Think I will be getting me a buffer wheel - cheers
-
Well, some ideas would be the basic mods, exhaust, suspension, bovs, wheels, injectors, turbos, guages, fuel pumps (GTR/z32), afms - I could go on for ever Second hand OEM engines, gearboxes, interior trim, panels, bumpers, lights, brakes, suspension, ecu, loom etc.
-
SR, cheaper to mod, better toque. Torque is derived from the rod ratio, or the stroke length. But the Rb having a shorter rod, will rev out more when pushed without having the worries of rocker driven valves. If you compare the F1 engines, which have very short stroke length, or a motor bike engine - they are quite happy to rev their nuts off. The SR has a stock redline of 7500rpm though, which isnt too bad. Doesnt get away from the fact that an SR is much cheaper to mod, manifolds are cheaper, injectors, only need 4 instead of 6, cams are cheaper, and if you are doing a full rebuild, 4 pistons and rods are definately cheaper than 6. Some food for thought.

Strange isnt it, you can get done for DUI, or in excess of 0.05, and what happens? but if you dare do a burnout, TAKE THE CAR. When will they learn, its the peanut behind the wheel that does the damage, not the car. Hey I know, if someone goes and discharges a firearm in a built up area - we shoud just take the gun off them for a couple of days! I'm bloody brilliant, lets get the pollies to pass a new law! Tonights episode was pretty bloody transparent, I hope the majority of people who watched noticed it too - then again, maybe I misjudge the public at large???? -
MNImports, g'day and welcome. For parts, are you talking second hand OEM parts? or just performance parts? There isnt many places here that do second hand and new OEM and performance parts that I know of over here, like JMS or D1 Garage do in SA. Something like that would be a welcome addition.

Nice curve, 216rwkw with 10psi? what turbo are your running? looks like there is more to be had with boost controller - your boost is dropping from 12 psi. Also, why was the run stopped at 6500rpm?
-
bankids, I made you an offer by pm, if you want more, send me a coutner offer by pm - give me an idea of what you want for them
-
the stock R33 fuel pump will be close to its limits around 200rwkw. The earlier you replace it the better. injectors and FPR will require some form of management, as mentioned, but still wont compensate for the stock fuel pump, which will reach its limits before the injectors which can be stretched with a FPR and management. Bottom line, do the pump if you are modding:)
