  1. Mark Phillips uses one in his R33 drift car, perhaps try and contact him on either the drift australia website/forum or the nissansilvia website - his nick there is whiplash. Mind you, he is being sponsored by ppg afaik.
  2. Try Wilkinsons.
  3. Cheers, will give it a go.
  4. be careful. this is how my woes begun. A friend convinced me to use his fantastic wheel cleaner to remove some brake dust. He told me to just leave it on while I washed the rest of the car - big mistake. It was corrosive as hell, and now the dished part that was nicely mirrored has a milky appearance, well not milky, but not mirrored as it was. bit hard to describe. Sorry I digress, just saying be very careful if you intend using corrosive wheel cleaners on your rims
  5. cant post pics, I dont have anywhere to host them
  6. Dont boost the stock turbo past 10 psi (essentially stock boost with a full exhaust) with a stock cooler. With a FMIC, dont go past 12psi (about 0.85bar). Many do go further, but they just arent reliable. Management, my suggestion would be to get it done at the same time as a FMIC. You could just fit a boost cut defender, but this is somewhat of a band aid, and limited in the future applications. IMHO the safe way to go is fit FMIC and management at the same time, and for measure, get a decent fuel pump to boot. Then wind in some boost. So bottom line, full exhaust is fine. FMIC is borderline, dont boost until you have management and fuel pump. There will be people that disagree, but I do tend to be a bit conservative, better safe than sorry is my motto PS, just to confuse you, it does appear that some stock ecus (S1.5) allow boost, fmic, exhaust and still run fine. Check out the preformance forum, some guys have had great results, but this is not the norm.
  7. Are you using the paste or liquid? They also have a cotton wadding type to dont they? I have been using the liquid, even tried jacking up the rear and putting the car in second gear to save a bit of elbow grease - but it just doesnt seem to be doing what it should. I also have the studs, fun arent they
  8. Hi, I have some veilside rims that the dish needs a bit of a polish, just slight tarnishing, not anything major. I have tried brasso and autosol, but neither have the effect I was hoping for, ie - mirror finish Has anyone polished their rims? If so, what sort of results and what do you recommend. If worse comes to worse, I will get them done professionally, but I prefer to do things myself if I can. Thanks for any help Steve
  9. Cheers guys
  10. Hi all, Can anybody tell me what the go is with SAU MC events? I joined up, but no info on any happenings. I wouldnt mind having a go if I get the chance. Also, what is with the red stickers that come out with the membership card for SAU???
  11. Wasnt a bad coverage - please guys, ring channel 10 and ask for more so we can have MORE Her32, I was at the Sydney round last year, and it was well worth going. The local guys arent bad at all, but the jap D1 demo, words just cannot describe the crazy speeds and how close these guys drive - video just doesnt do its justice Oh, and the sbs coverage of the malalla event should be better than the last one. They are doing the full pro series thing and will have similar commercial type coverage - so I am told. Keep an eye out for it on May 1, 12 non, SBS (EDIT: more coverage = more sponsor $$$ = more drift comps australia wide. The Drift Australia round is talking of coming to WA in 2006, would be nice if we had a decent following/local series going before then )
  12. Hi all, On Sunday 24 April at 1pm, there will be a special edition of the channel 10's Trackside featuring the Full Lock Drift Nationals! Please have a look (or tape it if you are going to be at the drags), it wont dissappoint. Please support this sport, have a look, and give channel 10 a call to ask for more - even if you arent into drifting yourself, get behind this motorsport for your fellow SAU members that are . This will be a huge help in getting the sport of drift off the ground, and the only way media coverage will continue. Cheers Steve PS, sorry for the late notice
  13. PM sent
  14. Backing plate attaches to the uprights. Its what the hand brake mechanism and rear drum brake for the hand brake is attached to.
  15. Sorry if you thought I was implying you werent making the power - 270kw isnt enough to really start doubting people about unless of course its in a Hyundai:) out of interest (means alot more than just peak power) what sort of power are you making at 3000rpm, 3500rpm, 4000rpm, ........ 7000rpm (or wherever you have redline) The spread of power speaks volumes about a cars performance. Also, what wheel alignment specs are you running?
  16. Oh, and I dont mind removing myself either
  17. Basically after the hand brake cables, backing plates, rear calipers and disc - may need hubs too, could you pm me a price please, cheers
  18. Check your tyre placard
  19. Block it off, then you never have to worry about it leaking or any associated issues. I was recommended to do this by a Jap D1 driver, as he explained it, if you vent the air from the inlest system it must repressurise after you change gears/throttle input, introducing throttle lag. This is what he preffered, but they do a lot of on/off throttle changes and balance a car through the drift with the throttle. I have also used the Trust BOVs, which work well and allow you to plumb back Out of interest, why do you need ideas for a bov? is the stock one not doing its job properly?
  20. If you suspect its the BOV, try blocking it off with some plate BOVs are overated anyway Well worth while checking lines, but the fact that the BOV lifts at lower boost, but not at higher boost doesnt seem to follow the normal leaking vacuum line symptons that I have seen and experienced.
  21. Sorry forgot to add, just because two cars make the same peak power, run the same boost and come onto boost around the same rpm, doesnt mean they have the same power over the rev range. Car A at 1 bar may be making 250rwkw @ 4000rpm, car B may only be making 180rwkw at the same rpm and boost. Both may make 300rwkw peak power. The shape of the curve makes a big difference too.
  22. So many variables. I spent alot of time and money setting up my skyline so it didnt do crazy things. R31 - non IRS too isnt it? IRS has its own challenges. Just being non IRS and no HICAS would give a car massive advantages until you sorted the issues in a car that is equipped with IRS and HICAS. Making the power is only half the job IMHO.
  23. you can clean them. It had the best filtering characteristics, not sure about air flow - they didnt really go into that much. the blitz sus filter is reported (by blitz) to be able to flow 1000hp. So saying its the best filter could be a bit mis-leading if you know what I mean. Just the most effective filtering of the group tested. Probably being a bit pedantic now... SK, how much camber are you running in the GTR pictured in your sig? (assuming its yours)
  24. Awesome price, I was going off local price, its very easy to fit, shouldnt need a retune as the fuel pressure reg takes care of rail pressure. Having said that, some people have reported the car running richer after a fuel pump upgrade, presumably because of increased flow - might be worth putting the car on a dyno to check. You would certainly notice any major difference once you start driving if this is the case though. Whether or not there is a change to mixtures, it would only be richer, so nothing too scary.
