  1. Zoom tend to be a bit like that, supporting sponsors. What pod do you recommend? any problems with K&N?
  2. I responded to your post, and asked for a price on some parts, but no reply???
  3. Ditto, I have had a 320rwkw gtst with oiled pod and never a problem. I have also used the HKS dry. My personal preferance is for the K&N type, based on the review of them done be ZOOM (I think) magazine. They found the Apexi was the best, but the K&N was a close second at a fraction of the cost. The fact that they (the K&N) can be cleaned easily is a bonus. Two reasons I would say the HKS isnt such a good idea, firstly they dont filter as well as K&N or Apexi, (according to Zoom, tested K&N, Apexi, HKS and Blitz SUS filter) but the second, and most important thing is that the HKS filters are supposed to be thrown away and replaced regularly. If you dont the filter material degrades and can be sucked through the turbo. I have seen it, and it wasnt pretty, pitted the impeller blades. Having said that, if you did change regularly, it wouldnt be a problem. Worth bearing in mind. Bottom line, dont be scared of the oiled type filter,K&Ns work very well and are easy to maintain, they clean out very easily and very well. According to Zoom, the Apexi is the best for filtering. Something else that may be worth checking out, I have heard that the oiled type pods are illegal in some states, may be worth checking with your local transport department if you think this may be a concern.
  4. ROFLMAO, why is it that people 'read' this and then think they can naysay someone who has DONE the bloody job. You may 'read', but show me someone who has done and doesnt get surge. I TOO have read, but I also KNOW people who have had this install done, and with similar results - there is so much disinformation on these forums from people that dont have a clue, or know someone who knows someone or READ somewhere. Its all bloody heresay until you have DONE it.. Let me give you a tip here, if you havent done a job, and have read about it, but someone has done the job - ask questions, consider that perhaps they do know more than you because they have done the job, its a source of first hand information - you might learn something instead of listening to all the keyboard cowboys who parrot others without actually having completed the job themselves. You talk of 'bosch pumps', which bloody bosch pumps, they make a few. If you are talking about the 044, then say that, but then again, you probably arent sure as you only read, and dont remeber the details.
  5. Oh, and the way it comes onto boost so late, I doubt it would be the tuner.
  6. Hmm, I found a few things that made mine come onto boost alot harder, and hold better to redline - one of them was exhaust being very restrictive. It wasnt a problem until I got the larger turbo on - just choked it as I turned up the boost. Easy way to tell, just drop the exhaust for a quick run around the block or on the dyno if your not feeling adventurous. Second was a flange leak from the manifold to the ext wastegate - only a small one, not audible by ear, needed a stethescope type device - but made a big difference, boost earlier and far more responsive. Last one was BOV leaking at higher rpm. Some ideas anyway, hope they help
  7. looks very much like a copy
  8. You could try x-speed, they have a good range of bits on the shelves normally.
  9. Sounds like it would be cheaper to import an RB26 box from NZ than to buy local. SR20 bellhousing WILL NOT fit RB26. The SR boxes start to have difficulty around 260rwkw, depending on how you drive. RB25 boxes do fit on to S14, with modified tailshaft, shifter and differnet cross member (sr20 auto cross member from memory). Also, you may have to modify the tunnel slightly. D1 garage would be able to provide the bits as they do full convedrsions, ie, rb gearbox to SR20.
  10. Shame you didnt have a tape recorder on you.
  11. I would highly recommend you look at a jap drop in replacement rather than modifying a bosch pump to fit. As an overview Bosch pump (I fitted a 044 internally) - initail cost $400 - hose tail connector, banjo fitting and fuel hose, $80 - a several hours farking around to fit the damn thing, mod bracket etc - it also fouled on the fuel tank making it tricky to get in place. - result, noisey pump (not too bad but noisey) and it had a tendancy to surge at lower fuel levels, ie less than 1/4 tank Tomei intank pump - Intial cost around $550 (you may be able to find cheaper, esp if you import yourself from greenline or nengun) - I had it tested, flowed 260L/hour at 3 bar, better than the bosch, - direct fit, no modding - about 30 mins to fit - doesnt surge - quieter than the stock GTR fuel pump it replaced. At first I thought the pump wasnt working it was so quiet. Just my opinion, having tried both ways. Much happier with the tomei.
  12. That is a pretty ordinary looking dyno. Cant be too happy.
  13. PM with a price for the rear brake calipers and discs, backing plates, hubs and handbrake cables please.
  14. Never happen, it would be an expose on how 'overpowered' and dangerous these cars are, just look what these cars do - and they are driven on the street - how can the government endanger the public by letting cars like this on the road and how are they going to stop it. Bottom line, MORE regulations. Not against being a dickhead behind the wheel, but against the cars. I dont know if anybody knows the story of the Ford GHTO Phase IV? Fear/outrage sells and increases viewing. As does sensationalist journalism with clever editing.
  15. Pretty much sums it up - sad but true. Its a shame that we appear pretty much helpless to stop this sort of media scare campain. Anything to improve ratings, who cares how far the truth is distorted. It was interesting that brocky didnt think confiscating cars was a good idea either but didnt waste much time going into detail - just skimmed over that bit.
  16. I was told the auto in the 33 is the same as the Patrol??? anyway, if that be the case, any nissan dealer should be able to help out.
  17. Very nice clean looking car, as gtsts go. I think I like the look of Mark Philips ex JMS R33 (same colour, CF bonnet, but fatter), or for that matter, check the JGTC bodied gts in the for sale section http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=70747
  18. quite normal for a skyline to have a notchy gearbox - especially in second and when its cold. If you change the oil with redline shockproof lightweight, the notchyness should go away. A bit of vibration through the shifter is normal too. Having aftermarket suspension and wheels tends to increase the NVH of a car. BTW, if you were after a 94 gtst with a few mods and 78k kms, let me know
  19. Hi guys, I have a trust type S bov for sale to suit R33 gts. It is only a couple of weeks old. I got it off a guy who found it made his auto stall, and swapped for some castor rods. Someone has offered to buy it off me on thursday, but I would like to sell it sooner if I can, hence the post. I am after $200 (cheap for quick sale), this is near new in the box with gaskets, t-piece, bolts and instructions, complete kit. Anybody who can come up with the cash before thursday its yours. Please phone me on 0407 699 334 if interested. Steve MODS: please leave this post here, it will only be for a couple of days, and it is only for sale locally cheers
