Random pull overs.. when were you last pulled over?
Steve replied to Remix-'s topic in Western Australia
Paul, how many times have you actually been defected???? Guys, you dont know how good you have it, here in SA, people get defected for stock BOV - in fact, I dont know of anyone that has been pulled over, had bonnet lifted and not defected. Hell, one girl got defected for her stock BOV, they could hear it because of the pod - she offered to lift the bonnet, but the cop told her not to and gave her the defect anyway. My hint for not getting noticed (as told to me by a cop who is a mate) is dont cruise Kings Park, NB, Freo etc, and dont do circle work in car parks:p Thank god I will be back in WA by the end of the year:) -
Age old problem, how do I buy a 10K car for 7K? Pay a good price for a good car, and you will be happy. How many people do you know that would sell a 10K car for 7K? mates, mates, mates, mate always knows someone, but in real life it just doesnt happen too often at all. Good luck with the search.

can only suggest you make an appointment and see your local MP. the only way these pricks will lay off is it comes from above - if their bosses are copping grief, they will cop grief - and no one creates grief for public servants more than politicians. good luck. strange that they can say something has to be legal, but dont have to say what is exactly illegal - in other words, the farker didnt have a bloody clue. flogging is too good for some of these arseholes.
-
Engine or wheel noise that disturbs other people - that's a claytons clause if I have ever seen one - could be used to screw ANYBODY.... sustained wheelspin, how do you define sustained? once again. Fair, yeah right.
-
First they dont want P platers driving at night, now this... I wonder how many high speed chases will result from this. There is no way I will give up my car without a fight - at least if I write it off I will get insurance! My main problem isnt that all cops are arseholes, as I dont believe they are, BUT there are some total fark head cops out there (right cheeky?) who can abuse the law if they wish. There are ample laws in place already that can be used for someone who decides to do a bit of dorifto up King William, dangerous driving, creating excessive noise, driving with undue care etc - really, 1 burnout and you can loose your liscence and then send your car to regency for good measure. Why do all these self serving politicians have to try and re-invent the wheel, soon, we wont be able to fart in public without getting our arse sewn up (on the spot, no anesthesia:)) Its just getting out of hand. Most of these pollies must have been hiding in doors when they were growing up, forget what it is like to be young. Perhaps we should all sell our cars and just do drugs instead? Or better still, everyone buy an old $200 shit box, do a bunout in the city, then run away before the cops grab you (make sure the car is unregistered) - they will have to impound the car, very soon there would be no room for any decent cars:D fark em all, is it any wonder no body likes politicians when all they do is spend time and effort trying to screw people? this new law just isnt necessary, the wankers /rant

I think it depends on a few things, how you drive, how the car makes power etc. Trent (autobarn) has a stock box in his 180 with around 250rwkw, James (d1 garage) has gone through a few and has now updated to an R33 adapted to the SR20, with similar power to Trent's. Response is different (Bai tuned James car for response and he has the smallest turbine housing available for the turbo he runs), and also James told me he found the twin plate clutch engaged a bit more harshly than the hyper single he runs now - which in his opinion makes a difference. So I suppose it isnt just cut and dried - sorry I couldnt give you anything that approaches a definative answer:(
-
Yeah, I know you meant front - they arent cheap though, headlights alone are around $800, S13 bits are cheap and plentiful - for next time:p damage is a bit worse than I first thought, this might get costly:D
-
Yes, the kei office sus works well, shame about the lack of grip from the tyres. Car was understeering like a biatch, the handbrake on the S13s is pretty average too compared to skyline, and a mechanical diff is a must have:D First time I drifted the car, it wasnt set up properly, but the opportunity rose and I jumped at it. (note to self, no 3rd gear snakeys in the wet:p) Still had a good time though - it will be back, better than ever.... dont know where I can pick one up cheap do you Hiep?
-
looks like I will have a sil80 soon, just stoved the front in:) silvia fronts are alot cheaper than 180:p
-
Yeah, the 32s are a bit better out of the box handling wise, but the 33 can be made to handle, just suppose it comes down to whether or not you want a classy ride or not:p That vibration Darren is probably increased by the mission mount, I just fitted one, and it makes a noticeable difference in cabin. I would love to come for a ride when she is all up and run in - yours and Joels lil stocker 32s are very phat.
-
good work, I love my little 180 - they have more torque because the stroke is longer. fun cars to drive, like go carts on steriods from the drivers seat

The line to the wastegate isnt via a T peice is it?
-
well if it has TWO lines, where does the pressure come from to open the wastegate??????
-
The stock solenoid has has 3 lines. 1 goes to wastegate, 1 is a bleed return line, which plumbs into the AFM to turbo inlet pipe - this is for emissions purposes. The last one, is the pressure line from the turbo oulet. So, it is just a process of elimination.
-
I was under the impression that road laws had been nationalised???? Then again this is SA... Hang on, you were a courier driver? You will definately have to learn the road rules then, probably back to basics for you:P Sorry just couldnt help that one:)

Not all us SAU people have lost their childish stage, I have never grown out of it:) Maybe we should organise a tea picnic just for T-man:D SAU Annual Picnic and Tea tasting, BYO Darjeerling Could call it the SPAT for short....

It already has a brand new Kazama 350 on it, kazama buy garrett turbos and mod them to their own specs, bit like HKS only cheaper:) It is around the same size as the HKS 2540 comes in nice and early with the stock exhaust on it, so should be good when I fit the aftermarket one that is waiting. The exhaust is a N1 type, which is why I am waiting for the ECV before I fit it, its bloody loud. It already has front bar and skirts. The bar is a bit thrashed, but it means I wont mind destroying it further;) The rear bar needs some repairs before it can be fitted back on, but only minor - then she'll be fully sick.
-
It is now off defect:) only got one sticker on it though, but thanks for the idea Glenn:D It came with a few nice bits, kazama turbo, bride brix seats, front/dump pipe, GTR fuel pump, tomei quickshifter, dual core radiator - which all stayed on when it went over - the turbo looks stock. Also has a full exhaust, which will be going back on when I can get an ECV for it, and Kei office sus and momo wheel. Have a cooler coming for it, going 5 stud conversion, castor rods and need to find an EBC. Also sourced a power fc and I have a fuel pressure reg. Probably fit my oil cooler, boost and oil pressure guage. Should be going quite well pretty soon:p The 3037 wont be going on though, tad too big for the SR20 IMHO. I have started stocking out the skyline, pretty depressing job though:(
-
havent sold the 33 yet, got alot of stocking out to do first:) Hopefully I will be as lucky with the plods with the 180, had 3 behind me today at different times, still didnt get pulled over. More lotto tickets for me:)
-
Congrats Irish, My new 180 goes in on tuesday, fingers crossed:(
-
you can buy tolulene from the BP supplier in Port Adeliade, just ring them first. I enquired with the local BP a while back, they referred me to their supplier:)
-
Cant see why you couldnt use same duration both sides, same as RB26

Good luck with using a smaller turbo - how is that going to fix things? Am I missing something? If the gasses wont waste - then it is pretty easy to see that there is a problem with the manifold, especially if you know the turbo is a good thing, and the wastegate is a good thing. It seems to me that if the gasses arent wasting with the wastegate removed, there must be some crazy turbulance happening (high pressure and low pressure systems, you probably got a whole weather system happening in there!...j/k). If this has happened already, it would be pretty hard to believe that all the rest of the manifold is a good thing - manifold design is pretty critical to optimum performance. Sorry to say this, but I believe the only real solution would be to ditch the manifold you have and get a new one - one that has proven results and works, especially if you have evidence of its performance with a similar sized turbo/engine combo. Good luck. I have had to cut my losses in the past, sometimes its the only way. There certainly is alot more to getting the best out of a turbo setup than it appears on the surface. Even a change of a couple of mm in pipe diameter in a manifold can make a noticeable difference to response and driveability, seen it with my own eyes - its tricky business. No wonder an experienced mechanic/tradesman likes to guard hard leant secrets and charge a few dollars more than the local autotune fellas - and so they should, its expensive business. My motto: the good feeling of a well done job lasts alot longer than the smile you get from saving a few dollars - fortuneately there are places around like SST and Performanz that do put in the extra, learn lessons the hard way, and are able to guide noobs like me when things go cactus. Could you imagine what would happen if you took a problem like this to your local garage mechanic:) anyway, my 0.02c And Ditto on the manifold photo request, cheers

Clint there is a Southern Cross on OG road, near NE road that sells pump 100ron for around 1.35 a litre (then again, that was a few months ago).
