rb25, none of the HKS turbos are available anywhere but HKS - period.

Spacers, legal?: depends on which state you live, and what type they are. do not bother getting the type that fit over the existing wheels studs - they are illegal everywhere. You can get the type that bolts to the hub, and has bolts coming off the spacer for the wheel. Cost will vary depending on who makes them. Good Jap ones can be up to around $250 a pair new. If they are good quality, they are fine. Some rim manufacturers actually sell their rims with spacers to correct for offset. At the end of the day though, I think it would depend on how far you space the wheels. If you are increasing the track of the car dramatically, it 'may' put excess stress on the stub axles. D1 Garage can get them, and I believe have some at the moment. Also places like JMS, Viva Garage etc. They are easy to fit, as they just bolt up like the wheels. Just be aware, there is definately different quality, and personally I would like the best quality if its holding the wheel on:)

Nice, so when does she drive?

Well they also fined him over $500, and read him his rights. Told him the plates were going to be removed from him aswell, as he was misusing them?????? Clint, do you know where I can find out specifics of what can and cant be done on trade plates?
-
Another interesting one. A guy I know got done on Milne st, just around the corner from Morpowa, driving a car on trader plates to Morpowa. Police didnt record a vin, nothing, just said its defective, gave him a fine and made him tow the vehicle away. Pretty crazy that you can get defected on trade plates, a business owner driving his car to a place of repair? anyone heard of this before?

Bman, I think it is a very relevant comparison. One turbo and manifold off, another on. Couldnt be a more even playing field. SK, just because HKS are made by Garrett, why does that mean they are the same turbo? As SATO GTS points out, HKS have spent possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years doing R&D, they even do nissan turbo setups for OEM, under contract from Nissan. The end designs they come up with are proprietry for themselves so only they can sell them. How many car manufacturers do GCG test turbos for? How many years have they been goind R&D into turbo technology, and how much money have they spend on testing different setups? I bet you wont see one nissan sitting out the back of GCG waiting for different turbo combinations to be fitted for testing. How many unique combinations of turbo/compressor wheel, or original design compressor housing do GCG own? Comparing a 9second drag strip car is pretty pointless, unless you are talking about building a drag car - ultimately the person who wins at the drag strip is the one with the most money to throw at it - very different ball game to what most of the people on here are looking at, with good street car combinations being the main aim. But at the end of the day, the results such as Bmans speak for themselves, and are pretty unrefutable. Here goes the old brand name versus generic name again:)

Sorry Matt, but I gotta do this - told you so:p:D Good to hear, how is off boost and spoolup? Mine came in a lot harder and earlier when I ditched the old exhaust, as well as crisper off boost. What fuel pump are you currently running? Have you consider the Tomei in tank pump? they can be had for pretty cheap these days, only a bit more than the bosch, and they are a straight fit without rooting around. Come on Matt, give us the full story instead of just teasing:)

Just be careful if anyone is considering doing the back door defect removal. I have heard that the sh1t has hit the fan in a big way, and hundreds of cars and car owners are effected. Police are doing full on video interviews with those that have been named as having cars taken off defect without going through regency. It would appear that a certain someone who works/worked there got caught and is spilling the beans big time.

I always thought the only purpose for adjustable fuel pressure regs was only to stretch injectors, then along comes a japanese mechanic and D1 pro driver, who recommends I raise rail pressure to 3kg for the sake of added response. Anyway, something else to consider.

FS: NISMO LMGT1 17"x9" to suit GT-R YEAH!!
Steve replied to justinfox's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
knore, are you going to refund the cost when someone buys these to put on their GTSt, only to discover that GTR has a completely different offset and they wont fit? FFS, if you dont know what you are talking about, its better to say nothing and let people guess than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Justinfox, I wish they were to suit GTSt, as they would be sold. That is an incredibly cheap price for an excellent light weight rim. free bump -
Update. I have been monitoring my fuel economy, and now, after doing an oil change, and adding the remnants of what was left in the bottle I got (about 80ml), I have some definate trend results. Today I got my best ever economy since fitting my 550cc injectors. Before roil, I was using between 16 and 19L per 100km (worse was over 20L/100km). After roil (for well over a month now) I have been getting at worse 16L per 100km, but averaging high 14L to low 15L. Today I actually got 13.9L/100, needless to say I am pretty happy as my car is a daily driver. Once again Jetpilot, thanks very much. I will definately be using this stuff again next time I change my oil. the fuel savings more than pay for it with todays prices.

have you ever been through the mallaca straights? it really is amazing it doesnt happen more often. its not like the ships can just put on the brakes and stop in 100m. I was heading into singapore once (sailed in there a few times), and at 45 degrees to port and starboard or the bow, I counted over 90 contacts, then I gave up.

Looking good. Certainly a good all round package with nice power. With that housing I would have thought boost might come in a bit earlier and hit a bit harder? I noticed you are using a Nismo exhaust? I had the same, and it choked the car a fair bit. when I upgraded to a HKS super dragger I found more power everywhere and boost came in around 800rpm earlier with much crisper throttle off boost too. Easy to tell if it is hurting, just dump the exhaust off for a dyno run:) the boost response seems similar to my 3037 until around 7-8psi, so I am sure the EBC when it goes on will help. How do you have the wastegate plumbed at the moment? what size gate, what size spring?

definately recommend the Front mount for the following reasons. By dropping the intake temps you will be better protecting the engine (cooler intake temps = less prone to detonation), and gaining power at the same time. The stock intercooler is not a very nice thing. Especially when you start upping the boost, showing pretty huge pressure drop. This means the turbo has to work pretty hard. horsepowerinabox have published test results wich show up to 7psi pressure drop on the stock cooler. If you have 12 psi at the plenum, your turbo will be pushing 19psi at the outlet. The stock turbos dont like boosting too hard, and doing so can cause the exhaust wheel to seperate from the shaft. A good cooler will mean you protecting the turbo too. Protect things before you start pushing. A tune for $200 probably wont be too good. For a good tune expect to pay around $500 up. There are people on here that get good power with the stock ecu, up to 200rwkw, so dont immediately believe you will get better results from a power fc than a good cooler. Good luck

Erica, really sorry to hear the crap you are going through. It doesnt surprise me, I have already been told by a copper (at holden hill) that any bov will get a defect. Please, please, please go and see your local MP. this is a perfect example of why the rules need changing. Guilty until proven innocent, guilty even when they KNOW you are innocent. Guilty even though they dont have a clue. Please do it - they are the only ones that can actually change things.

wld747, do you want your car to be able to idle properly? If not, go the 850cc injectors. these links I found pretty handy when considering injector upgrades: http://www.ap-engineering.co.jp/el/inj_side.htm they also have a page for top feed injectors, but cant find it at the moment, will post up later here it is: http://www.ap-engineering.co.jp/el/inj_top.htm

I dont mind helping out if need be, but I dont think my ricer will be up to it, esp if Matt puts his in.
-
The injectors dont, the lack of fuel does. I know, there is all this theory around how you can run 250+ rwkw with stock injectors - but how many cars have you seen sustain this and keep their ringlands in one piece. My injectors were at 85% with 200rwkw, right on the edge, tuned with 12:1 af ratios. This was on a warm 35deg C day. Its not just the AF ratios at the time the car is tuned that needs to be considered - what about temperature change or accel enrichment? Everyone blames the weak ringlands of the RB25, well I am not the only one with over 300rwkw on stock pistons, the ring lands are not that weak. but like I said, if you think you can do something no one else can, go for it. I am just putting up a word of caution for those who care to consider it. At the end of the day its not my car. I would just like to see evidence when someone says xxx power with stock injectors is no probs. I think without good evidence, its misleading and could result in a very expensive problem. knore, you may be running only 14 psi, but that means squat. Power is relative to air flow, which is relative to the amount of fuel needed. 14psi boost can mean anything until you get it on a dyno. two turbos with the same boost pressure on different engines can make different power. The internet is a great place to find information, I just think its also a great place to be lead up the garden path. It is therefore, for me, very important that I see some sort of evidence before I believe what others say, ESPECIALLY when I have seen alot of evidence that says otherwise.

yep it does, but have you ever noticed it says TWIN TURBO on under the GTR bonnet, not bi turbo, I would love to know where ferni got his bi-turbo theory from?
-
call it what you want. a twin turbo is a twin turbo, be they sequential or not. why do you say you have bi-turbo setup? all you have to do is lift your bonnet and read? anyway, sequential turbos are alot more screwing around, perhaps have a look on the supra forums.
-
Its interesting that people seem to thinkthe injectors are good for 250rwkw. I can be done, but how many people have been running 250rwkw on stock rb25 injectors and not needed a rebuild? I really do think if you are trying to skimp on the cost of mods, you will either end up with a dog, or it will only cost you more in the long run. You get what you pay for. but hey, its not my car.

Drifting? no, I just hoping for some rapid direction changes
-
I will be attempting to get nice consistant times, perhaps around 36??? Do these things have hand brakes?
-
Perhaps you should see if Martin has a couple of his G-techs to do side by sides at AIR for the next meet - would make it interesting anyhow.
