  1. that's not to confuse cained second hand coilovers with stuffed damping I run 500lb/400lb in my Cusco R comps - in a car that weighs around 1150kg - on the street, and its not overly bumpy/stiff - because the dampers work well and are adjusted correctly If you are happy with G4/D2, I am not knocking you, but you dont know what your missing out on. I have personally tried Kei Office, Cusco zero 2 R, ohlins, bilstein, JIC, Tein Super Street, HA and flex, Tanabes, HSDs, Silk Road/Section, buddy club, D2s and G4s - all when they were working well or new (helps that I have worked in performance shops that sell and fit them) D2/G4 were the bottom of the pile - IMO, a waste of money, you are just lining the pockets of the distributors and the china men that make them HSDs were a bit of a surprise, they worked very, very well for an entry level coilover, for a few dollars more, are much, much better value than D2/G4 Tein SS, I didnt think much of them - better with a coil/shock setup from ohlins or bilsein. Flex werent much better IMO. Both SS and flex are ok for the street, but that's what they are designed for I spose. Bilstein, Ohlins and Cuscos, Tein HA, Tanabe, JIC, buddy club, silk road, Office (but they didnt last long before they needed rebuild) worked well under sedate driving and when going hard. just my 0.02c
  2. leaking, knocking, car feels unstable or gets upset easily when going over bumps, back end feels loose, back end feels skittish, front end feels skittish, front end feels loose, car starts to understeer or oversteer (more than normal) all could be signs of suspension problems.. and more.
  3. I know a guy who told me he spent over 40k having an RB25 built there... could have had an OS giken 3L for the price he paid LOL but seriously, why are you having your engine rebuilt? seems alot of people who spend big $$$ building an engine that only does the work a stocker can handle but hey, its your cash.
  4. spacers do not cause problems unless they are poor quality or incorrectly fitted - I have run them for years on my street/track (drift) car, both slip on and bolt on type, I even went over the pits with them and no probs you get what you pay for - no such thing as a bargain when you are buying new, your wheels (and tyres) will make a big difference to handling and affect performance. If you cant afford decent new wheels - you cant afford new wheels. there is a very, very good chance that if you didnt have a correct key to tighten your 'allen key' nuts, they werent tightened properly, which can cause problems even without spacers
  5. two things that shit me about them 1/ they f**k up quickly - and need to be replaced, which is a PITA, and just after the warranty expires they die again, so you are stuck with worthless garbage that you can even sell 2/ they are a shit ride - really, for those of you who think they are good - get some decent coilovers in your ride and then say that again - you wont They have no rebound adjustment, so when you adjust the dampening, you only adjust the bump - and the dampening adjustment only works for 50% of the range For a few dollars more - HSD are MILES in front, they actually half decent shocks, half decent adjustment, and they will last alot longer than G4 (less headaches, less screwing around replacing under warranty, redo wheel alignment [more cost] etc, etc) For a few dollars more you can get GAB or Buddy Club - as pointed out, and they are also miles in front of G4/D2 garbage Or, if you dont want to spend more money, buy a decent shock and spring combo - minimal stuffing around (setting damping and heights) - they bolt in, they work Most people dont want to, and dont know how to spend the time needed to set up coilovers well - they just want to be able to jump in and drive - if you fall into this category, definately consider a spring/shock combo
  6. why going rebuild? its so cheap to buy second hand engines these days, and you can reliably get over 400rwhp without a problem from an internally stock RB25 save your money, buy more mods - have more fun for the same $$$ Go the second hand engine - KYP, cost you 1500 or if you want more, buy a RB30 bottom end - get a cheap stocko freshen up - bolt on RB25 head there are so many 'built' engines out there already, that arent being pushed past what a stock bottom end can easily handle - it just doesnt make sense. (built engines often need a freshen up every 30,000km or so - its just more expensive all around) dont get caught up in the 'I got a forged rebuild' hype - over-engineering wont give you more power, or make your dick bigger. (back to your question - Heinz Engineering do good work )
  7. proof sheets are up www.westdrift.com/echo/ for pics (to get printed) pm Echo63 on www.westdrift.com or post up in the thread! cheers

  9. E manage is well under $1000 - and probably your cheapest option. I gives full ecu functionality with alot of extra features, but still utilises factory coldstart, accel enrichement, idle control etc - emanage ultimate comes with laptop software for tuning too. They are an interceptor type ecu, so nothing too major to wire up. Considering power fc is getting a bit scarce (new, around 1K - but they stopped manufacturing), emanage would probably be one of the cheapest, best options. your best bet would be to do a search in the performance section, or post up there if you cant find what you are looking for - at least that way you wont be accused of whoring other peoples threads

  16. does the definition of reckless driving change if you are in a built up area? In SA, it made a difference... BTW Bloodlust, definition of reckless: your comment was kinda stupid... Hope it works out for you anyway, at least you have learnt your lesson. Its so much easier (and cheaper) and safer to just take your car down to a track if you want to thrash flat out. Pretty sure AHG still do weekly open to all thrash sessions for as little as $40, you have a safe place to cut sick - its very worthwhile if you want to test your car out. Or, if you want to hit WASCC, its still alot cheaper than copping a decent fine - good fun.
