The annual SAU Dyno Day - Register your interest NOW

Wont work for me - Dean you arent trying to sculk out of this are you? -
Yep, I have seen the link, sorry your fwkw confused me a bit, as I am used to either hp, bhp, rwhw, awhp - and havent seen that expression before. I did have a look at that link, and noticed the 2535 has more down low, but sacrifices 13 hp up top. Sorry if it offends, but I have seen a less than glowing report on one of these turbos (2540) on a SR20 in Zoom or HPI (cant remeber which). I would really love to see if the guys who set it up got it all wrong or not, but until I see a dyno, or hear a report from someone who owned one, why should I believe otherwise? Also, as you mention, the 2540 has a really poor rap from gtr owners. You say lets not start this again, but you quote very poor figures for a GT2535, then go on to say you want at least a 2540, which I think is unfair if you havent seen a 2540 in action AND how do you know what trbs wants in a turbo, all he asks is 'are these any good' Your words here appear to be that of a salesman, not someone wanting to help someone assess the suitability of a specific turbo he asks about. I think this is abit misleading, as you havent actually seen how this turbo goes on an RB 25, nor have you seen how a 2535 goes. The post about the 2535 on RB20 only shows that the info you provided is not really appropriate, as the website quotes the power at only just under a 2540. I have seen dynos for a 2530 on RB25, which is smaller again than a 2535. and they go quite well, esp if someone is looking for an upgrade that provides a good midrange with reasonable top end (230rwkw at 1.2bar). By comparison, the 2535 has better bottom end and better top end. Its nice of you to try and sell your mates turbo, but I believe your posts are somewhat miss leading, as you are not presenting the facts you have in an unbiased manner - this would be somewhat confusing for someone who is looking for info on a turbo. trbs - I am sorry if I have added any confusion, but I would just like to suggest you make as sure as possible any information you see on here is as valid as possible before you make a decision. A turbo costs alot of money and the right turbo for you will be different to what someone else may want. From the graphs on the HKS site, the 2535 will deliver a better power band for the street, where you spend more time at between 2-4000rpm than you do at 6-7000rpm. I have been in an rb2530 powered RB20 Cefiro, and it was an awesome setup. Sly33 has a 2530 in an R33, and he loves it. By comparison, the 2540 appears more laggy than either - the top end gains appear only marginal. RS500 good luck selling the turbo for your mate.

True, but still has a decent wide power band up top, like you say, depends on what you like.
-
oops didnt notice the 1.4bar, I had looked at a few of the GT25 series first I was saying 'should' because the only dyno on here from GT-RS doesnt look anything like the one on the site. I would be more than happy with 574.3ps, very very happy. A good turbo will only be as good as its weakest link - and fine tuning can take alot of time and money before the true potential is realised. Hopefully I will be able to back that up with dynos pretty soon, the car is going in for a retune on monday with new 90mm exhaust, intercooler to TB pipe (3" instead of the old 2.5) and a 1 bar wastegate spring, up from the 10psi (or lower) spring that was originally in. (EDIT: even if the dyno doesnt show much improvement, driveability is hugely improved so I will still be happy) the website shows the potential of the turbos, which is good, as anything less indicates a there could be a problem elsewhere - just like I knew I had a problem with my GT30 setup when you were making more power at lower revs from a bigger turbo:)
-
just buy a purge system and fit up some LP gas, much cheaper and you can fill up when you get petrol:p will do the same job, and you could wire in a spark plug to really impress the chicks at night - also very handy if you cant find a cigarette lighter - I am sure there would be more uses, like if you drive near a swamp and there are lots of mossies around, getting cats out of trees etc
-
Just had a look at the GT-SS, that looks like a killer street turbo, very strong down low and decent top end.
-
have just found a link (posted by RS500) to the 'claimed' power of GT-RS and GT-SS turbos on RB26, also links to alot of other HKS turbos at the bottom of the page. show power at (EDIT) different boost levels. also shows the results seen here are nothing like what they 'should' be doing. Anyways hope you find it interesting, I did. http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/turbo/...rs/ac_gtrs.html (GT-RS) http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/turbo/...ss/ac_gtss.html (GT-SS)
-
it wont effect anything at all.
-
Just had a lookat the link you posted RS500, obviously your friend had a few problems with his 2535 turbo setup, as it is rated only just lower than the 2540 by 10kw at 1bar, BUT the mid range and bottom end is a fair bit stronger. By comparison as the 2530 makes around 230 rwkw at 1.2bar, you should be expecting around 240rwkw at 1.2bar from the 2535. the guy who only made 190 at 1.7 bar obviously had huge problems.
-
have you actually seen this turbo make this power on an RB25? what was the boost curve like? not bad as its similar power to the HKS2835, and only a tad less than my 3037S 56T does at 1 bar. I would love to see a dyno for it, as I have never heard anyone describe the HKS 2540 as anything but laggy - so it would be good to see that rumour put to rest. Its also interesting that a 2535 makes less power than a 2530 - which will put down around 230rwkw at 1.2bar.

New Diff fitted - car out of tune?
Steve replied to Steve's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I first thought the knock could be because of extra load on the engine, but the more I think about it, the more I think the knock would be lower. I am pretty sure (will be checking on the weekend) that the diff is higher ratio, which is why I am getting the extra torque down low, that and the fact that both my wheels now put the power down. PRO 32, dont worry, you will absolutely love it, the difference is unbelieveable:) -

CGB_R32 just re-read your post - I hope you are not confusing the extra noise a mechanical diff makes with the diff being rooted. Mechanical diffs do clunk and grind a bit at low speeds esp when manouvering, such as in a car park, or tight cornering at low speeds. the stock viscous one wont do this. -

No warranty for me:) I got it second hand for $350. It was sold to me sight unseen as a 1 way diff of unknown origin out of an R33. when it got here I checked it out and its a 2way nismo. The diff definately is working well, infact it behaves better (less NVH) than cars I have been in with os giken or kaaz diffs. Bl4cK32, if you are quick, I heard a rumour that Z Imports (south tce wingfield) have a 2 way and only want around $500 for it, which is a bargain. -
are you serious? know your moderators:p hint, its not Joel;)

Bl4cK32, bring the sigma, I would love to see what she can do. I dont have any problems with others bringing their cars down (ie non forum members), as long as no forum members miss out. The more the merrier:) If anybody has problems with ringins let us know your thoughts. -
New Diff fitted - car out of tune?

No way the old diff is going back. the car handles 10,000% better (ok I exagerate a little). Seriously, everything about the car is better, its quicker off the line (no more chirps every time I take off), much flatter through corners (the car is so much quicker to punt around corners on or off power) and pulls harder first, second and third. Plus the back end is so predictable and it doesnt do crazy 'back end into the next lane' action when putting the boot in, just a gentle sway:) If I realised how much improvement was available over the stock diff, I would have seriously done this along time ago. The diff is pretty quiet actually, makes a few small clunks at low speed when taking off esp if going around a tight bend, but other than that its all good. -

hippy, come along, bring your mates - but you gotta put your car up. Doesnt matter if the gemi blows your doors off with its 8rwkw, its all just for comparison, not a competition. Well maybe we can make it a comp with the grand prize being 2 sausages! every category winner can get 1 sausage - that'll bring the punters in:) Bl4cK32, doesnt matter what trim your car is in, it would still be interesting to see what she does in mild trim - the more variety of mods and power levels the better - your coming:p -

Whatsisname, you need some people sitting in the boot - only way to keep the wheels in place:) Sounds like some nice figures. I on the other hand cant boost past 1.3bar now:( (I think it may be the new 3" pipeage) but new wastegate spring goes in on monday:) so hopefully it should be sorted. -
SK what boost controller do you use? if it is the power fc boost control, how do you adjust the boost ramp?
-
welcome:)
