  1. Just had a thought too, its interesting that Matt is running the lowest CR too, and he has heaps of midrange - Matt, you need a bigger turbo:) Does MattR still have his HKS T04R?
  2. Thats a great idea actually Lachlan, when was the last time we had an SAU dyno day? Do you think Shaun would be up for it? It would be really nice to have a sort of comparison chart on here so people could see what different combos/mods have made - it would be a great info resource, and a fun day as long as Matt lays off the ELF:)
  3. I forgive you:) EDIT: the carpet for the sub box helped soften the blow, cheers
  4. Perhaps, if disconnecting the NVCS reaps gains, esp with stock cams and ecu, it points to problems with the NVCS, ie its not operating correctly?
  5. Some more food for thought. I tried disconnecting the VVT after I had an initial tune with aftermarket cams, as I thought perhaps there was too much overlap with the inlet being advanced, thus causing additional lag due to reversion. the car was sooo much worse bottom end/midrange, and the lag got worse. I also put the cam and rough engine specs into Dyno 2003 software, and tried advancing the inlet. The resultant change in the power curve showed gains the further I increased the inlet (only went to 20 degrees), but the interesting thing was that the curve fell over and produced less power above 4500rpm. According to the Tomei stock cam spec sheet, 4500 is where NVCS switches off. Looks like nissan got it right.
  6. 2530 is killer on an RB20. the other thing with just quoting peak figures is it doenst say anything about reponse or powerband. I have never heard of anyone speak well of the HKS2540 on GTS, ie in twin from, except if you are after a pure drag application. I have read road tests (well dyno acutally) and that said the same thing, very laggy, very narrow power band without winding the rev limit hard to the right - that was on a SR20. On the other hand, I have never heard anyone say anything bad about 2530 - and I have been in a 2530 powered RB20, and it performs really well low and midrange with a decent top end. Lag was barely noticeable compared to the stock turbo.
  7. Lachlan, that last one was directed at Matt claiming he had stolen them:) It doesnt worry me too much, my car is nice to drive, and thats enough for me;)
  8. 9krpm, thats pretty farked.
  9. Yes Dean, but my son still thinks I am only 3 (or so he keeps telling me) - best part is, he thinks mum is 4:D really pisses her off:D:D sorry getting off track
  10. You can also adjust the tension by loosening the nut on the top and then using an allen key and turn it in the direction marked 'hard'. Works quite well, I have mine adjusted to lift over about 0.5bar
  11. computers are tax exempt - unfortuneately the guys at customs wont know its a computer - so just ask greenline for a reciept stating its a computer and all 'should' be good
  12. Do not buy turbosmart - I have now seen a couple of cases were they leak through the vacuum line (top) and therefore also leak boost. Really not impressed. **disclaimer** my own experiences, dont want to get into an arguement with the owners of turbosmart BOVs:D
  13. Oh, and give me back my 9 kw dammit:(
  14. Hey Matt, thanks, but dont thank me, seriously, thank the generosity of those guys who were willing to donate to a good cause. Trent is a really nice bloke, loves imports, and fortuneately for us, gets the good gear in cos he actually knows what he is doing, unlike so many other auto parts shops around. So when are you testing the ELF on the lawnmower, you will probably get another 10-15rw out of her yet.
  15. What the! you have ripped me off 9 kw! peak was 309:p
  16. I have seen it before where the RB20 has had trouble with getting over 200rwkw, and it was the pipe between the AFM and turbo which was sucking shut. Something else to think about when upgrading.
  17. really sorry to hear that dean, if you can just hang of for a few more months, with luck, we may just be able to have a win with this submission. Dont let the mongrels win.
  18. Thanks for posting that up Matt, go the stock internals:) Joel, get a twin plate NOW, and balance it complete - you will need it with all that RB30 torque:)
  19. to buy a GTR? you know you want to, or perhaps a fully phattened S13 dorifto-mobile?
  20. So did I:D sorry about that
  21. nice facial structure? I prefer to tell a girl she has nice tits, they know what you are after, and if they hang around, then they are happy for a bit too, none of this buttering up and being nice just to get into their pants, its just not right.
  22. T518Z, with 8cm housing
  23. Jordan, I'll say it again, I would like to see you do it, good luck And regarding what you can get legal, the big problem is emissions - with big cams comes poor emissions, with big injectors comes poor idle. Both of which will be exposed on a drive cycle test, which you guys have over there once again, good luck and here is a thought, why not drop RIPS a pm, he is getting 10s from a GT4 with one of his 3L jobs, and that is without forged pistons etc - perhaps he has a package, or bits along the line you are searching for.
  24. Dean, dont do it. Matt, good idea, nice car handle like a go cart with decent sus, which I know you wont mind, and being a light car, they respond very well to mods. Also, you can do an S15 front conversion:)
  25. R31 Nismoid Huge cams, huge injectors, little power at bottom end, high stall converters/dog boxes - all make for a not so friendly road car, slug down low, and when they come on song, go nuts. And very, very, very unlikely you could get it street legal, unless you live in queensland
