  1. Spinning the wheels up to speed requires some power, heavier wheels will require more power, not sure how much you will actually feel this, but it is a factor. The other issue is unsprung weight. heavier wheels add to unsprung weight and create more initeria in the suspension, meaning the suspension won't be able to react to changes in the road surface as quickly. Again, I am not sure how much you will actually feel this.. This is why people like the Rays 19s, as they are quite light.
  2. Based on your description, I am thinking a fuel pump or regulator too.. but there are other possible causes. If the 250GT fuel pump is the same as the 350GT fuel pump, then the G35 pump should be fine.
  3. No probs.. not sure when I would be down your way next anyway. Don't know if the best way would be to match the colour of the rest of the car and respray the door, or match the colour of this door, and blend the colour on the adjoining panels..
  4. Will he do it for fellow skyline owners?? My front passenger side door was resprayed by a previous owner (no idea why), and the colour doesn't quite match.. irritates me every time I see it..
  5. I would also question a $2k figure for just an 'exterior surface' respray, especially if you want a pearl finish. If done properly there is a lot of work involved.. removal of door trims, door handles, removal of windscreen/window rubber seals. headlights, bumpers, rear badges, tail lights, door bump strips, etc, etc.. I would estimate closer to $4k.. $2k for the paint and another $2k for labour. If you just wanted a standard 2 layer paint (not pearl), you might be able to cut the paint cost a fair bit. If you existing paint is flawless (no stone chips, deep scratches, etc), you might even get the labour a little cheaper. unless you happen to know someone in the business and can do a 'cash in hand' deal..
  6. Looks good, but have a bit of a look around first. 250GTs tend to go quite cheap as everyone is after the 350GT (or 300GT for P platers), have seen some go for under $10k. You also might want to check it out in person, to find out which one of the (at least 2) cars represented in the pics, is the actual one for sale.
  7. Agreed, I had the turret (hood), and boot lid resprayed in another car a few years back now, and that was $900 - wasn't triple layer pearl paint either.. You can probably add 50% more if you want a pearl coat.
  8. Personally, I don't like the debadged look.. it makes me thing 'dodgy back yard repair job'. But some prefer the debadged look. Just personal taste I guess.
  9. Not local to Sydney, but I see them pop up on ebay in USA often.. remember in USA it is 'cool' to rebadge an infiniti as a Nissan skyline! The 350GT badge is often there. the 'SKYLINE' letters pop up a bit less often.
  10. JDM series1 runs through to late 2004. Probably the same as the G35 series1.
  11. I thought the canadian rules just had low beam headlights that were forced on when the engine is running.. not separate DRLs.. could be wrong though, it has been a while since I have been there!
  12. This is where they were in my car when I bought it.. they looked stupied and the first thing I did to the car was remove them..
  13. Mine had LED DRLs when I bought it, I removed them because I think it looked to much like an Audi wannabe..
  14. Good question - the G35 covers the V35 and V36, so it is possible you will to define the year to determine what will fit.
  15. G35 has the 3.5L engine.. G37 has the 3.7L engine.. infiniti model numbers signify engine size.. not series.
  16. respray, or park it in the sun for a long time. Not much you can do, the paint under the badges hasn't been exposed to the sun/elements, so it isn't as damaged/faded. You can try a light cut/polish/wax, but chances are you will still see it a bit.
  17. ^^ they might fit.. but you can be sure the markup the Australian dealers will put on them will be far more than the shipping costs from USA.
  18. Take it for a drive and check shift quality, you will feel it shift, but it should shift fairly smoothly, RPM should not 'flare' between shifts, but it also shouldn't 'thump' into the next gear. Once everything is warmed up, give it full throttle from a standing start, make sure RPM rises with speed, and 1-2 shift is reasonably firm. (if you can find a suitable place where you aren't breaking any laws!!) Pull the transmission dip stick, check the fluid, it should be a bright red transparent colour**, it should not be brown, and it should not smell burnt. If you aren't sure what it should look/smell like, you can compare it to the power steering fluid. ** can someone else confirm the Nissan J Matic fluid is red? some specialised fluids are a different colour.. I think CVT fluid is more of a yellowish colour (at least the Maxima CVT fluid is).
  19. RE4/RE5 doesn't really define the gearbox type, it really just states that it is an electronic controlled 4 or 5 speed auto box. there were many transmissions that started with RE4, some were good, some weren't, all having signifincant differences. eg. the RE4F02A has the valve body on the top and wasn't known for reliability. the RE4F04A has the valve body on the bottom and was much stronger. the RE4/5 in the V35 is quite different again.. considering it is a RE5R.. (RWD box). That said, the unit fitted to the V35 seems to be quite good..
  20. Oil is thicker when the engine is cold.. but I would expect the noise to be there all the time if it is a timing chain issue.
  21. It's a bit strange that it only occurs when you start to accelerate, and not when idle. Makes me think 'exhaust manifold leak'.. That would also explain it only occuring when hot after everything expands. But the exhaust is on the opposite side of the heads to the intake...
  22. The TT version is about the same price as a GT-R, so I can't imagine sales will be that great. Will need to be more than a different badge to get it past SEVS. Eg. Fairlady- 300zx, cefiro-maxima. When one was for sale here, you couldn't import the other..
  23. Yes, and busses and ferries and 7-11s and vending machines, etc.
  24. There will be next year.. but the infiniti will still be called the G37 if it has a 3.7L engine.
  25. I think he was just trying to say the V35 skyline was made first, for the JDM market, then they decided to release it in USA as an infiniti G35 about 2 years later. I think the V series are are reasonable replacement for the non GT-R skylines and don't deserve the flack the R owners give it.. however, Nissan was faced with an issue with they released the R35.. it was far too different to the V series to give it a skyline name.. but really is a suitable successor for the older GT-R skylines.
