I am putting my 1996 R33 GTR up For Sale as I am looking to move into an M3. Most of the Vic members would have seen my thread in there about my possible upgrade this year, but I have seen an immaculate M3 I can get into now. I am the first owner of this car in Australia and have owned it for 6-7 months. Midnight Purple R33 GTR 125,000kms Genuine Kms with Japanese Log books. Car has Nismo white gauges with 60,000kms on them and Japanese log books to prove the change in gauges and Japanese service history. 18" BBS God Mesh Rims with Pirelli P6 Tyres done less than 10,000kms. Tein Coilovers. Boost Controller running 12psi and Dyno tune shows 210KW at the wheels with a healthy engine. Air Filters. Kakimoto Exhaust. Aftermarket Stainless Steel radiator. Turbo Timer. Alarm. Brembo's as standard with new pads all round. 400R fibreglass Front Bar and Vented Bonnet. All engine, transmission and diff oils have been changed as soon as I got the car. New Sony head unit. I have just replaced rear brake rotors, front bushes and the car has been running amazingly since I have had it and took it down the great ocean road where the car performed beautifully and all temp gauges stayed perfectly stable for the entire trip. Car is in immaculate condition with front bar and bonnet needing a respray, which will be done at this price so car can be delivered in perfect condition. This GTR is truly one of the most sound mechanically I have experienced, as I have owned 3 other GTRs including a 330KW at the wheels monster, but this GTR has not missed a beat since owning it. Price- $26,500 with respray and RWC. Any questions please PM me or call me on 0401-004-999 and strictly GENUINE Buyers. Thanks. I will be getting paint work done in the next few weeks and will upload new pics after respray and cut & polish. Thanks

Thanks candy, I didnt think of these as I thought they might be out of my price range. I drove a beautiful E36 M3 tonight that has been meticulously looked after with some nice mods, Exhaust-PowerChip-Suspension and has low kms and immaculate condition. I think my GTR is going up For Sale while this baby is still available!! Very impressed!!!!! Who wants an immaculate R33 GTR?????

Just thought I would let you know I test drove a 2005 HSV Clubsport in 6sp manual and was quite disappointed. Loved the sound but when I put my foot down was a little sluggish. On the other hand, I test drove the new Golf GTI and I was super impressed, so great little torque early on in rev range and a great looking interior!! Very Impressed:) Has thrown a few spanners in the works that for sure as I never thought of an Golf GTI.

$4.25, the best value I could get:) All your info is most helpful and with a budget it is looking more and more like keeping my R33 and focus on doing some minor work to that to get 250-275AWKW is the best value. But as I said, I am test driving a few different vechiles over the next few weeks and am starting to look at a lot of different models so I can make a thorough decision. Cheers All!!

Where abouts in Vic are you located. Im interested!! -
Candy, I appreciate your offer and I have PM'd you as I would love to have a run in E46 as well as talk mods for the GTR. Let me know what you think and thanks again!!!!

Yeh I will begin the test driving this week. I must admit to thinking of adding a few different cars in there, Clubsport, FPV GT and even the new Golf GTI. Just want to see a range of cars so I can best get an idea of what I want. I will keep you all posted on the test drives:)

When purchasing my R33 GTR 8 months ago, I drove both V-Spec and non V-Spec and could not tell the difference, as the non GTR that I ended up buying had Tein Coilovers and there was no difference that i could tell. I presume you might notice a slight difference if you were using it as a track car. that is another reason why I chose the non V-Spec, as it was a little more unlikely to be used as a consistant track car in the past.

Im pretty sure a neat, good condition R32 GTR with nice mods will always be tasty!!! I still look at them and think they are the best value for money, provided you get a good one. After owning 3 R32 GTR Im pretty sure I havent seen my last one:)

Thanks Marlin, I didnt even think of these to be honest, will have to have a test drive of these as well and see how they fit:)

Sam, we are ion a tough spot as the cars we have are probably the best in that price bracket. Not sure about yours, but my R33 GTR is amazing. If its wasnt running so well and maybe causing me headaches, it would be an easy sell. Looking at an M3 for many reasons,. the luxury and boot size are just some of the main differences that I could do with, hopefully I have a crackin 6 months and I can justify the $20-$30K change over for an E46 M3. I will cdertainly keep you up to date with what my thoughts are. GL with your situation as well!!

Couldnt agree more R31Nismoid. I will be getting my car looking great, with all the little GTR things fixed, so that when a buyer comes to look at my car it is the best car in the price range ($23-26K most likely). V36 just dont do it for me and I think the 335i and the 135i might be a little out of my price range unfortunately. Thought the Evo might be a little raw for a DD, hence the want to go to an M3. Cheers Guys.

I have decided to begin prepping my car for sale and also begin some pro active research on all 3 cars so that when the time is right, if I decide to purchase I will be ready and if I decide to keep the 33, then I will have an immaculate base to enjoy my build up:) Probably put my car up For Sale in approx 2 months and I know the GTRs dont sell over night:(

Ok, they might be an acquired sound but I have always loved the sound of an M3 being planted!! Its a very different sound to the RB26 so we have certainly been spoilt with the sound of an RB on full throttle:) Horses for Courses:)

This is exactly what I had in mind for an E46 and seeing this clip again just now, makes me think thats where I am heading!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!
-
Thanks Chan, I will get a 6sp as I love manual cars and the experience of driving. What do you guys think of Evo 8/9 and Clubsport R8s or FPV GT-P?? Should I be putting these into the equation, I think the HSV and FPV maybe a little big, but thought the Evo might be a good option. Thoughts?? Cheers

As far as mods, the M3s I would just probably do an exhaust and ECU tune, then it would mainly be wheels and some good suspension components. Maybe a S/C after a while if I thoughts it was worth it. The R34 GTR I would do Turbos, Power Fc and some small supporting mods and shoot for about 275AWKW as a daily driver. Again would do nice wheels and suspension mods. There are some nice E36 M3s on the market now for mid $20Ks which is nice but as I already have a really nice R33 GTR, I could just keep that and start to work on that, but I think an R34 GTR or M3 would be a nice present to myself this year Thanks again for all your feedback guys and hopefully someone here will have owned both R34 GTR and E36/46 M3.

Sloutch, thanks for the advice and I will be doing my research!! If I choose an M3 I may have to modify it over a longer period of time compared to a GTR, but Im sure thats half the fun:) Will be test driving both M3 models and a R34 GTr n the next few weeks to see what I think, I may end up keeping my R33 GTR and do that up a little!!

It is going to be my daily hence the reason to move to a more luxurious car! I have a soft spot for the E36 but I know the E46 is a nicer car. The only thing is I could get into a nice 6sp E36 now or wait 6 months and jump into a nice E46, I am quite an impatient person so I want to make sure I dont jump into anything. E46 with a S/C is what im thinking, together with some nice suspension and handling mods down the track, with a sweet set of D/Dish rims could be a very nice mid year present??
-
Well I have had imports for the past 10 years, so no Luxury cars for me, but I have had a hankering for one for the past few years, but still want performance. Hence the M3. I am pretty happy to keep them mildly stock and I agree, the GTR will see better results for the $$$ put in. I suppose its a matter of myself driving both vechiles and seeing with the luxury is worth sacrifice in performance. Has anyone had both E36 and E46 versions of the M3, to me they look pretty similar from an interior point but I think the E46 looks a lot nastier. Is the extra $20K for an E46 worth it or a nice clean E36 is better value?? Decisions Decisions!!

Hi Guys, After looking at modifying my current R33 GTR, I have decided to keep her unmolested and purring like a Tiger for the next lucky owner. In the next 6-9 months, I am looking at purchasing either a E36 M3, E46 M3 or an R34 GTR. Obviously the M3s have to be a 6 speed manual. I will be looking to modify these vechiles but nothing over the top. Nice power while a street look to them. Can some one give me some feedback in regards to the comparisons between these vechiles and I know modding a GTR isnt cheap, but what about an M3, sticking a S/C on it etc etc. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and I will be test driving these cars in the next few weeks to get some driver feedback to begin my planning. Thanks Again:) Jamie

Apparently the back way through Colac is the best. Through the Mountains and a lot less traffic, I will be going that way next time
-
Yeh I actually agree with you guys about possible down grade, epsecially as far as performance goes, but I think I am looking forward to the superior comfort and prestige. I have just passed my mid 30's and GTRs have done very well by me for the past 10 years so I think im ready to move on, unless an upgrade is into a mint R34 GTR?? No doubt will keep you posted of what Im up to and thanks for your 2 cents

Hey Guys, Just took my GTR for a drive up to Apollo Bay to give it a good run. I have the had the car for about 5 months and it has been an absolute joy to drive since ownership and has led me to think aboiut some mods in the near future. It has pod filters, boost controller, tein suspension and nice 18" BBS Gold mesh rims with Pirelli P6 rubber. Car makes approx 210KW on 12psi in fairly standard form but for the 3 hr trip up and back, the car didnt skip a beat. Oil and Eng temp was perfect the whole way:) What a great road to test your cars abilities and I must say, the GTR was ridiculously good. On the way home I got to thinking about modding it and I have chosen to keep the car stock as I am probably going to be upgrading to an M3 within the next 6-12 months, so any money spent on it most likely will not be seen again. I have had an itch for an M3 for about 2 years now but the prices have been out of my league, but with the E46s now between $40-$50K if I can achieve some personal goals in 2010 then I will be doing the same trip next year in a smick modified M3:) Saying that, I couldnt have been more impressed with my GTR and when the time comes (approx 6-9 mths) there will be a sweet, reliable GTR up for grabs unless I decide to turn it into a weapon, but I have already been there and done that with my last GTR and pretty keen to do something different in the future. But I would highly recommend taking a trip down the Great Ocean rd if you have a nice performance car and a smart brain as it is one of the best trips you can do, as Im sure a lot of you can attest too. Cheers
