Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
gdawg replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
For good bite from cold.... Winmax 6.5 I use them in my GTR for hillclimbs and a bit of circuit work and they pull up beautifully. On the circuit, comparing feel to pmu Club racers, they do change feel a bit when they get hot (a few laps in) but still pull up as well ! A mate (who is sponsored by pmu) recently jumped in the car and was amazed by their initial bite. Brake hardware is otherwise stock -

I'm looking for an aftermarket oil temp sender that is compatible with the factory oil temp gauge. Ideally operating over the same range to give similar readings on the analogue gauge. Why? I've recently pieced together the motor (rb26) deleting the factory oil cooler, filter housing, etc. replacing it with an RB20 item with aftermarket relocation/cooler kit. The factory oil pressure sender fitted into a port on the block which worked out sweet. There is however no spare metric holes for the oil temp sender. The aftermarket filter relocation and cooler kit I got has provision for a 1/8 NPT or similar sensor of some sort, therefore I'm looking for something plug and play I can hook up so I get an indication in the cabin What have others done to address this Thanks Greendog

I never machine rotors, throw them out with the pads. Rda rotors are shit, but I used them. They are dirt cheap, just throw them away with the pad change. -

Just to follow up. I ran the Winmax W6.5 front & rear at "Legends of the lakes" and found them quite user friendly. Obviously being a short hillclimb event it's not heavy on brakes so can't comment on longevity, etc. but assume they will perform as good or better than the junior W5's which survived mallala Significantly, they were very well behaved on the street. I used the car as my runabout while in Mt Gambier that weekend which was pleasant to drive around town (not too much noise and not like wood cold). Seems like a great compromise pad between circuit, targa and even street -

I have run Winmax W5's recently and they seem to hold up to a bit track work as well as slower stuff (hillclimb). At Mallala in my GTR which is heavy on brakes they held up to 5-6 lap sprints with minimal change in feel. The feel is different to the PMU club racer I usually run, there seems to be less initial bite, but the performance must be there (did a PB of 1:18.7 on them). Obviously the W5 is a lot cheaper than the PMU so great value for money. The W7 may be more suitable to more serious track duties. The wear was minimal for the one track day. I have some Winmax 6.5’s on order to try. Will run a few hillclimbs on them and maybe a track day earlier next year so it will be a while until i get feedback on them -
Are these direct fit to rb26, ie are there any adapters required for standard injector rail or wiring loom? I'm interested if it's plug and play

I think it's a combination of things, people growing up, other things to do and the perception that you'll get harassed or defected. There are still plenty of meets and groups if you are on the facebooks, etc. if that's your scene I periodically catchup with a few groups, but must admit I rarely take my car, prefer to meet at events at the track where there are a good variety of cars and people
