Google RBxxDERT, where xx is your favourite flavour of RB.

Interesting that you should say that. I have mine required through a 60 Amp relay and suitable wiring, and twice it has killed the earth. Both times the car was running perfect, left it for an hour or two and it just wouldn't prime. Both times the earth went open circuit. All other wires were fine but the earth was dead, and there didn't appear to be any damage to the wire. Certainly didn't look like it had had too much current through it.

That's odd. On my Neo harmonic balancer is has 5-6 marks on it, never seen one with just two. RB20 and RB30 also have 5-6 marks.

On a R32 it's just two bolts, all you need is a 10mm socket or a screwdriver.

Every plug on the engine needs an earth. So instead of trying to earth each individual wire they all tie in to a common point. When I was cutting all the non essentials out of my loom it had me confused for a bit, but then I realised that all of the sensor/plug earth points tie into it. Then there is five or six wires that run from there up next to the VCT plug that get earthed out via the intake manifold. I think there may be one individual wire that gets earthed near the ECU. It's pretty much just a way to make life easy for Nissan and keep the size of the loom down.

Cheap Ebay Fuel Rails And Ethanol
iruvyouskyrine replied to ARTZ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I am about to use an Aeroflow rail on my Neo head so will let you know how it goes. Got it for free so not sure if it's in the realm of an eGay special but it's no plazmaman. Seems to fit nicely so I think it should be fine. Quality looks decent too. -
Thanks for the info, good to have some actual solid info that is tried and tested.

I can pretty much guarantee that's it's water sitting in saturating the spark plugs underneath the valley cover. Have seen multiple other RB's with the same symptoms (misfire that gets progressively worse) and it's because the spark plugs are partially submerged. Also I was told by Trent at Chequered tuning BCPR6ES for 15psi or less, and BCPR7ES for 16+psi I ran the 7's in my car at .8mm with 21psi no issues.

If you're havin' plenum problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but oil filter access ain't one.

Thermo Fans Conversion; Temperature Range?
iruvyouskyrine replied to Faawks's topic in General Maintenance
While I agree/understand the advantages and disadvantages of thermo fans a lot of drifters do use them, myself included. I have never seen a stock fan break but I don't like the idea of using a stock one with cracks and continuously revving it over 5000rpm. I know that I could buy another but I just like the advantage of thermo fans, it really comes into it's own when you have a nice setup with twin fans and a cross flow radiator. With drifting (depending on the track) you can sit in a staging area for maybe 2-3 minutes at a time. After flogging the shit out of your car the twin fans really cool it down well. Not saying a stock fan couldn't but thermo fans DO work. I have only ever seen ONE(!) Drift car with a JZ engine running a stock fan, and I'd say over 50% of RB's run thermo fans as well. These are just my experiences so take it with a grain of salt, but for people who say they don't work/are crap etc then they are incorrect -
I forgot the title of the thread is RB25 plazmaman FFP. Also I clearly stated in my post about the Greddy style plenum. Thanks champ.

Don't know why people are complaining about accessing the oil filter, In my case it's a piece of piss to access. Maybe the R32 strut tower isn't as close. Can't see the filter in this picture but look how much room there is there. You can use a standard Neo rail on a FFP. The only reason that the Greddy style isn't advertised as a direct fit is because the AAC valve is a different shape, and also because you have to ditch traction control (no big loss anyway, learn to use your right foot)

Fmic Choices, Recommendations?
iruvyouskyrine replied to Tenny's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Stock R32 GT-R and get piping made up. Good for way more power than your RB20 can make and looks very tidy as it's supposed to be there. -
Exactly. Much much much more noticeable at high boost

Are you sure? I thought is was one piece of shit apply fecal-hydraulic pressure to another different piece of shit. -
"Loudest at low boost" would be the opposite to the turbo gasket though. That's if boost is taken to mean RPM.

It's pretty hard to find 4.6's though. Had a mate who looked for a full year before he found one that would fit. -

R33 Det Gearbox Help

Filling through the shifter hole I find is much easier anyway. When you get the filler hole loosened, move the car to a flat surface then remove the plug. Fill through shifter hole until it just starts to overflow through the filler. Then it's full. Saves buying a pump or trying to use a funnel and some hose -
Spraying mist on your radiator works well though, but shouldn't be required if your cooling system is up to scratch. I can only imagine it having any noticeable advantage on a very hot day.
